  1. he was back on 3aw again yesterday with tony jones and he said he still hasn't been to see jh nor spoken directly to him. talks via the daughter. i have read elsewhere that jh's parents split up some time again and jh sided with the mother and became somewhat (but not completely) estranged from his father. don't know how much truth in that but it might explain some things
  2. jawohl, t'be sure, t'be sure, dieter, 'tis a sweet wee sound, quite unlike that gutteral saxon
  3. you spoke fluent german when you were 2? i'm impressed dieter. of course sunshine was not a good place to learn english so i can sympathise. i grew up with irish parents (what the yanks call "ulster scots") so my english got off to a bad start too, not particularly helped by having german/polish jewish neighbours. still, being able to swear in 4 languages gave me kudos oh, i forgot and a young viennese migrant couple as neighbours on the other side
  4. this thread is definitely the wisest thread on demonland, so that is no surprise, od
  5. yep, a strange place, austria, dieter. almost as weird as the "most liveable city in the world" that will teach us for naming the country after that place
  6. that's what i was thinking rjay, especially remembering all the extra pressure and attention big jimma took on as prez

  11. joining the invasion day mob may seem trendy, moonie, but it's not very original and becoming passe. i'm sure you'll take the day off anyway and enjoy yourself.

  14. pretty likely assumption in this case, od. biffo will presumably correct me if i'm wrong. are you offering odds?
  15. that'll teach you for posing as a shiela, dieter
  16. maybe the missing brownlow medal case can be re-opened as a cold-case under some future afl regime?

  24. A pity, earl. I'd really hoped you might have been there to pump gillon for some juicy news as there would be no chance you'd bump into him at a canberra gallery or exhibition (unless it was one on the national game of course). julie would have been disappointed you couldn't stand in for her. look forward to your trip report.
  25. Banana Fact #231 Did you know japanese people literally wear bananas as clothing? Anyone for a banana kimono?
