  1. i should perhaps add that i find it a little bit hypocritical for footballers to rail against bullying and on the field try every trick to physically and mentally intimidate their opponents. I'm specifically talking about the stuff that's not part of the game. now i'm a big boy and i can easily separate what i see on the field from the message they are trying to impart on the banner and on videos etc but..........try to explain to my 7 yo grandson the difference between the treatment max got against port adelaide and the bullying he sees at the schoolyard
  2. didn't say it was bad, just thought jack raised some good points, and also tried to make the point that there are limits to this sort of stuff for what is primarily a sport where people see it as a sanctuary from their day to day problems i can assure you smokey, that if i wish to be informed and up to date on social issues, a football club would be the last place i'd go looking for any substance
  3. you make some good points, jack too much social engineering from the afl (and clubs) risks ending up with confusion and seeming to be patronising i agree footy is basically escapism and there are limits to pretentious role-making fabrications
  4. i'd definitely play freddy
  5. 9 players got < 10 touches, so there is the first 9 changes and we need a change to the game plan.......and the bath water
  6. wtf has colour got to do with this? jeeeez
  7. that's great, but it would be better if they could update the web site which is still quoting 44,008 (on both home page and membership page)
  8. It's far far too early to tell and too easy to jump to conclusions obviously new game plans are required both offensively and defensively and these will take months (or more) to evolve toss in the fact that it is season start and many players and teams are still a little rusty we may not have a very clear picture till the bye time
  9. interesting that he is not mentioned in club article whereas 5 others are mentioned as being in the mix
  10. hope we aren't going to start a new thread every time cornes stirs the pot the only reason he has a footy job is he's such a big stirrer ch9 should sign him up for mafs
  11. kudos for spelling "misogynistic" correctly, but
  12. special occasions only ?
  13. kayo at $25 give you 2 users, so just go halves with a friend so it only costs you $12.50 per month for just the afl season (no lock in). that's not a bad deal.
  14. frost got me very angry mind you. so did maxy and many others, but frost took the cake
  15. [censored] pre season
  16. so let's disagree on the meaning of flush in this context
  17. rain should be over by game time and mcg dries out very quickly (only 2mm forecast and in morning)
  18. his head didn't tilt back with respect to his body. sure, his whole body tilted back (and hit the ground) but his head stayed in line with his body with no independent movement of the head which you would expect if it was flush. the chin is the lowest part of the head and yes his shoulder made chin contact but it was minor and his body took the majority of the impact.
  19. "flush on the chin" is a bit of an exaggeration, moonie more like grazed the chin. if it was flush on the chin his head would have whiplashed and he would have been out cold. the vast bulk of the impact was taken on his body
  20. those to the south could drive to the south/east and pickup a belgrave/lilydale line. e.g. box hill/surrey hills to richmond is about 22 mins and that is NOT the express.
  21. that seems a bit dumb
  22. maybe if you were living in the 70's, bub......these days.....?
  23. the real problem is probably not even plain old anxiety, knowing how clubs like to spin things......and i doubt it is a "well-being issue" whatever the f that is. to suggest he is not being penalised by being omitted from playing stretches credibility, especially when he turns up for training this week. seems no-one these days knows what a spade is.......
