From what I’ve seen this year so far my best 22. I’ve liked Weidermans game this year but doesn’t hit the scoreboard enough for me.

    B: LEVER, O.MCDONALD, JETTA

    HB: VINCE, HIBBERD , SALEM

    C : PETRACCA, OLIVER, TYSON

    HF: KENT, HOGAN, MELKSHAM

    F: GARLETT, PEDERSEN, HANNAN

    FOLL: GAWN, JONES, VINEY

    IC: BRAYSHAW, HUNT, FRITSCH, SPARGO

    Emerg WEIDPeN

How can Tom McDonald not be in the side? I'd have Weideman in over Pederson. I was very pleasantly surprised by his game. I actually thought he was a dud but on what I saw I've reversed my thinking. He moves really well and took a couple og fantastic marks that we waited and waited for Watts to take but he never did.

If Weid can get enough of a run up when the ball comes inside F50 his job is to make a contest and bring it to ground - something we’ve missed since Rd 1. I hope he’s given a license to run through whoever is in his way because he’s a pretty big unit and he’ll make the Tigers think twice next time.

Get the ball to ground and we’ve got a stack of small forward options who need to position themselves correctly to rove off the packs and put the score on the scoreboard.

No our gameplan has everyone leaping for the mark :)

Someone suggested on another thread that you get inside info.

I find that hard to believe.

My opinion on Weideman has nothing to do with where my information comes from. We picked him at 9, 3 years ago and nothing has happened to suggest he’ll still be playing AFL in a few years time

I went to the game. My summary... it was ours to lose! Great contest... so much better to watch than several other round 1 games. All of the critics here need to take a breath and think what they would be writing if Max kicked the goal. I didn't see a Demon player who didn't contribute in some way. There has been so much stupid stuff written here that I don't have time to make the corrections. Our 2018 campaign is off to a healthy start with a lot to look forward to. Fritsch proved he is more than a goalsneak... Lever had the same sort of influence that gained him a reputation at Adelaide...Max, Ollie & Trac were superb. Bernie showed why he is a favoured son on many occasions... none better than when he rode the bump that left a Cat sprawled in his wake... Hogan was creative and hit the scoreboard in his normal manner. Harmes, Hunt and Hannon lifted in the second half to bring us back into contention. Wagner is all bustle and bash... what he lacks in finesse and finish is made up for in fearless attack on opposition bodies. ANB continues to bob op with deft touches... Jones got us going in the first quarter (those that thought he was ordinary need to watch the replay)... Pederson continues to be a wonderful contributor who is now showing that he is a cool head in a crisis (that kick to Max instead of shooting for goal was centimetre perfect!... Mind you, I have seen Pedo score from that position). Neville was playing hurt and may miss next week. I would expect Brayshaw and Tyson to come in to contention... but I certainly wouldn't be making more than one or two changes. Congratulations to the coaching panel for preparing such a fit and motivated team for the beginning of 2018.

    Your optimism is admirable

Posters question Goodwin, who just coached a side with a game-plan that yielded 23 more inside 50s than the opposition, which nearly always results in a win.

    Never change, Demonland.

He should be questioned after that game. Player selection was questionable. I presume its his game plan that has his players overuse the handball in tight, bomb it long into 50 (hence so many inside 50's that were quickly and easily rebounded) and allows 2 opposition players 39 disposals. I'm not convinced I'd use the word astute just yet

  6. In a sport and culture obsessed with proving your manhood by literally head butting bricks I actually find it refreshing that a group of highly talented young men can stand up and call [censored]. I will however be expecting them to win games next year that they lost this year. Only time will tell

Um... 'first to introduce the term neuroplasticity'... by about -50 years.

I've got no problem really with people re-packaging science into digestible material which is useful for informing anyone, but it is mildly annoying when there's a pretense that the work is original, instead of recognising that it is a handy synopsis of literally decades of research, debate, peer review and adjustment.

Y'know, all those 'dry' books by people with only 'book knowledge' and not the marketing nous that makes any particular brand of mindfulness a success...

Mindfulness is useful and there's value in any exercise or routine which helps people to be aware of what is going on in their own mind and why they feel the way they do, and to be aware that they can deliberately influence those reactions. Thank you, science.

Actually you may want to thank the yogis who for over 5000 years have been practising such techniques. Science simply proved what they knew long ago

wow what's the point too much negative stuff in the world to depress ones self, why not wait until we make finals so there is a happy ending. Richmond got a writer to write about the 2016 season, but once it looked like a bad year the scraped it, is the book a blame game?

Oh you poor fella, reality too much ch for you

You are clearly incapable of being able to separate getting Lever and being able to judge whether it was a good deal or not.

You are like someone who buys a car from a dealer for $10,000 when you only have $1000 because he offers you finance and you only have to start paying next year. Then next year comes and you're in shock when the first bill comes. The fact is we were always getting Lever, they just gave in and gave away our first rounder next year. Calling people bleating and others babies because they are capable of seeing the difference doesn't reflect on us it reflects on you. Shame people can't express different opinions on this forum without others resorting to denegration when they don't agree.

You're the one bleating. It's ok to be wrong and you should know that by now

Totally disagree Josh Mahoney should be sacked!!

Failed to hold his nerve with the Lever trade & gave away two 1st rounders, 10 and 27 would've be adequate but he panicked.

Lever ( a very good young player) nominated us, he was uncontracted, deals get done at the end of trade periods.

Adelaide held their nerve, we crumbled.

Watts pick 31, ok fair enough but paying part of his salary for a contracted player...please!!!!

    Balic whoopee!!!

    Go to bed
