  1. The new culture of the MFC will spring forth from the backs of players like McKenzie.
  2. 6 Mckenzie 5 Rivers 4 Gysberts 3 Martin 2 Trengove 1 Moloney Could have thrown a blanket over 5 or 6 for the 2 and 1.
  3. Geez don't overstate it, and you tell me I am fabricating things. From which official stats figures did you obtain this info. Methinks that you have fabricated it. Take your own blinkers off and watch the game yourself without your prejudices, and ask yourself why in the past he has tried to do much. Chip Frawley has been trying very hard to break the lines in our last couple of games too and coming unstuck occasionally. Why is that? I won't hold it against either of them because they are sadly just a few that try to run against the tide. The way you carried on I don't expect you to get it, or you will reply fabricating some other stat to suit the purpose of your argument. And H, Malthouse and Roos agree with my assessment. Each to thier own, let's see if he continues to improve or falls by the wayside, I think the former.
  4. Don't agree H, he is one player that consistently breaks tackles clear and at his best is very attacking and creative with his disposal, at his worst his turnover's are often fatal because he nearly always looks to the corridor. His detractors need to watch the full 120 minutes and keep thier eyes open. I guarantee you that tonight he will on a number of occasions get himself out of a tight space either with strength or sideways movement (or a combination of the 2) and deliver the ball to a team-mate which will result in a scoring opportunity. I will be watching for it.
  5. I reckon (hope) you will see our midfield rise up the ranks as a unit. Imagine how much better Jones, Gysberts, Moloney with a Tom Scully etc running into space for a handball recieve, or having clear targets in the corridor or a functioning forward line. And then the opposition has the issue of which one to watch at the clearances....and then you have the sum of those (one day) strong bodies at the clearances working for you, blocking, tackling etc. Have a look at recent history at the rises of the successul midfields, as the players mature the midfield rises to A grade as a whole.
  6. Jones is not a C Grader, he is singly the most under-rated player at our club. Strong, skilled, resilient, hard running ball winners are hard to find, particularly at the MFC. Jones has a tendency to take too much reponsibility upon himself, therefore tries to break the extra tackle, kick to the corridor when it's not on etc. He has kerbed this to a large degree. He is an attacking player with a mindset that I would dearly love to rub off onto a number of his team-mates. Put some better players around Chunk he will improve, not become obsolete. Think Dane Swan and what he was doing a few years ago.
  7. No words required. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/jim-stynes-wining-remarkable-battle-for-life/story-e6frf7jo-1226068220526
  8. I dunno RP, Howe can take an overhead mark and leap off the turf, he has that on Dunn already. Everything I have seen and heard of Howe just resonates AFL footballer to me, I don't want to build him up too much but I reckon he will give us plenty. He strikes me as a guy with confidence too so I think he will be bouncing around early. Here's hoping for an early goal to get his tail up. That said though playing 2 debutants with a 2 gamer and a 1 gamer in an already very young side puts you in line for a thrashing, so great courage shown by Bailey. A thrashing tonight could go somewhat towards sealing his fate in the minds of some.
  9. Explaining the grumpiness was for your benefit and for those who know me not for "hardnut"... who is certainly in no position now to critcise any short steps or pulling out, or even use the term courage with any credibility.
  10. Stating you are unhappy with team selection then failing to provide specific examples when challenged, and providing a response such as this? This is the antithesis of "courage", you know, that word that you claimed to know something about. NB: I am out of red, and slightly grumpy.
  11. How's this for paraphrasing? "I want to express my dissatisfaction at team selection however I don't wish to be specific. I would much rather wait till after the game is played so I can assess the successes and failures of the selction team and express my expert and hindsight-benefitted opinion." On one hand you spout words such as courage and leadership, yet you criticise what is clearly a risky and courageous team selection strategy, in a non-specific way so as not to be called out. Criticise the club by all means, but pick your mark.
  12. Please outline your method of selection..
  13. Has to play forward I reckon, we have no crumbers. You certainly can't accuse the selection crew of shirking it FMD some courageous ins and outs. If we lose this game there will be a number of Monday's experts claim we stuffed this up to.
  14. Talk about irony, the OP denigrates the denigrators, who you then denigrate and get denigrated in return. It's a veritible orgy of denigration. Depends I suppose how you define "denigrate" I suppose but these discussions will always generate some degree of disagreement between individuals, it's all about maintaining some degree of class, decorum and humour. The OP does it well in my opinion.
  15. Just going from the highlights I thought the same.
  16. To take that action would be to assume that he is giving consideration to another contract, or has fielded another offer. Considering that he has stated that neither of these things have occurred I think it could be distracting and it's unnecessary. By all means let's support the kid, but I think a strong united club with a clear sense of direction will offer a lot more incentive. I like your other idea though Billy
  17. I suppose it's been a long time since you left school Jared.
  18. The laws of probability dictated who it would be about.
  19. That is very good to hear, clearly we need players of his ilk.
  20. I applaud you jumbo, in these difficult and uncertain times you have achieved what I thought was the unpossible, you have united Demonland..
  21. Don't get it, you want them to respond to things before they happen?
  22. So be it. Win or lose, we go hard this week and make sure that the Bombers know that they played a game of footy when Friday is finished. I will be interested to see how we respond. It was emphatic against Adelaide after the heat was turned up after West Coast with albeit different personell, was it an aberration? Do we need a kick in the arse to perform at our optimum? is our motivation level consistent? My feeling is yes to the first and no to the second.
  23. Nasher and Hightower have put in thier usual consistent peformances. Have liked Akum's work and the master is a huge improver.
  24. Whether you like the term or not the "Line in the Sand" has been drawn by external sources this week and forcing the club to take a stand. It's a welcome opportunity for mine.
  25. I tell you what if things keep going the way they are going I might chuck a couple of bucks on us. This week is cooking along nicely for us. Anywhere I can bet on a Melbourne player getting reported?
