  1. That's two words. Both are wrong. The correct answer is Ian Dicker. Without him, none of the above could have taken place
  2. No need to apologize. Glad you felt alive. Most of us have to keep checking for a pulse
  3. If you have a 25k stadium no matter where it's located, you need 30k regularly trying to get in. Geelong make a huge quid at their patch because demand exceeds supply. So if you want to be sure to get in, you pay the extra - reserved seating etc. Playng GWS at Casey ? You'd be lucky to get a better crowd than they do on their dunghill.
  4. Some long bows being drawn here Garland - has been a good player for a while. I think he's physically stronger but not necessarilt better than when he was stitching up the likes of Buddy a couple of years ago Grimes - maybe. Or maybe because up until this latest injury, it was the first time in his career he got to put a run of games together Jones - every year Jones has improved an aspect of his game. Not quantum leaps but noticeable inprovement. He was on target to win the Brownlow at the age of 42. Whether he's improved under Neeld or whether he's playing in the right position (what was that year on the wing about ?) and contining his steady upward curve is debateable Davey - uninjured & something like fit for the first time in years. Not sure that's down to Neeld Clark - bit players don't make the AA squad which Clark did at Brisbane
  5. This has been the case for 15 years or more mate. SO many pot the kicker or bewail our "strategies" but as far back as the Daniher days we've lacked blokes who will take the responsibility of being a marking target for the kick-in.
  6. Some on here are too young to have seen him He was amazing. In a good side he would have dominated the comp. Anyone doubting that need only look at what he did when playing for Victoria The only one within a bull's roar of him was Schwartz at his best, pre-knees Ablett Snr from other clubs. Freak. Scary to think what he might have done had he had his son's commitment & work ethic Nod to Carey & Blight
  7. Goat photos I suspect. I also suspect Magner was holding the goat
  8. You're kidding aren't you ? What in the way we finished 2011 made you think we were destined for "great things" in 2012 ? I can understand you're disappointed but it seems you've contributed to that disappointment
  9. That's a huge part of our problem. 9 times out of 10, what you do when you don't have the ball determines whether you are going to get it or not. Too many of our blokes are witches hats when the ball is not in their immediate area Some of it is training, some of it concentration and a lot of it confidence Too many of our blokes don't actually want the footy in their hands. So they're not prepared to do the things that will make them an option to get the ball
  10. The late Jim Cardwell aside, I reckon I know the answer to this and it would certainly set the cat amongnst the pigeons. Or squab.
  11. Magner's a strange one but I've seen far more perplexing changes than that. MacDonald probably plays as a defensive forward to try to limit the impact of Hawthorn's launching of attacks of half back. They are deadly there. No surprises in amongst the rest And Biff........your eyes deceive you. Nev is slow
  12. Hi Dazzler - are you still having a kick somewhere ? I love Jordie's tenacity but he'll never make the grade as a decent mid. It's not his disposal that's his biggest probelm, it's his ball-handling. Particulary in the heavy traffic areas he plays in. All too often he'll get his hands on the ball but won't have control of it. In the split second it takes him to get control of the footy, the option to give off has passed & Jordie is being tackled. He is Simon Godfrey Mk 2. There was a commonly held belief that Godders' greatest failing was his kicking. It wasn't, it was his hands. Again, that second taken to control the ball in his hands put him under pressure. Junior McDonald was kinda the opposite. He was a crap kick but he had clean hands which gave him the ability to extract the pill from traffic & move it on
  13. I like your strategy. You can argue the toss over who goes but the ins are spot on (except Anthony who is a taller but slower version of Nicho) Add Daisy Thomas on big bucks via free agency and you've got a pretty useful looking midfield when you add Jones, Sylvia, Viney plus the likes of Grimes & Howe going through there as well If we can retain our current forward line & main defenders, there is a pretty damn competitive team looking to win against all comers That's the easy bit...how do we make it happen ?
  14. Lyon didn't just walk in off the street uninvited. That's beside the point of this thread though and there are many others to accommodate your argument. Here though, BB asked for thoughts re the Foundation Heroes
  15. I'd imagine that a few weeks ago Jackson said to the board I am doing the media circus this weekend. After that, all public utterings are from me or the coach. Everyone else should STFU until I sort this shite out
  16. UH, Clint Bizkit posted it in the "Core Players" thread so you can join in there or bring it over here I guess
  17. Spot on - the list Clint posted had four vacancies in the midfield currently occupied by the likes of Bail, Jetta, McKenzie, Nicho, Evans & Matty Jones If we can use free agency, aggressive trading for a young out of contract gun & possibly use the PSD to attract players in.... then names Thomas, Cooney, Shiel & Prestia would make that midfield a whole lot better
  18. Very harsh OP Thought it was a good honest article At least he did run which is more that I can say for half of our mids at the moment Give him a year or 2 in the WAFL & he may become 2015's Matt Jones
  19. Norm Smith couldn't coach our midfield. It's nowhere near as simple as that
  20. Apparently he did raise concerns. The "missing email". Sorry, letter, not email. Mentioned in this article, along with many others & radio & TV http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-premiership/switskowski-report-reveals-lack-of-clarity-about-who-was-in-charge-of-essendon-football-department/story-e6frf3e3-1226635979664#.UZ7okB2LCSo I must learn how to put links in with an abbreviated title Edited to include link
  21. This is something I've struggled to get my head around. My understanding is that Hird & Dr. Reid are not only colleagues but close personal friends Surely Reid would have communicated his concerns to Hird. If not in an official capacity then over a bottle of red It beggars belief that the club doctor would not directly express his concerns to the coach, partucularly if they're mates
  22. I haven't been one to criticise your contributions to date but this one is a disgrace. The context the expression "lurking" was used was entirely appropriate and a reasonable discussion could have ensued. Instead you've chosen to flame another poster and another thread will get cluttered with crap. Now, credit where credit's due. I'm not one of RRs biggest fans but be has succicntly stated why the OP is a bad idea and provided a more useful forum for supporter interraction with the board Your post further validates his argument. Read. Absorb.
