The good thing is we are getting more depth and finding more players, allowing us to get rid of the ones who are not up to it.
-
Another one, the impatient ones on here wanted to get rid of.
-
You idiot. Now we will be investigated for 6 months, destroying next year's season and then copping another fine.

He was absolutely crucified by Demetriou and his lackeys in the press. All they needed to do was quietly speak to him. Said he has received no apology.
-
Yes, that is what i heard him say and there is also an article in the Age and I think on the AFL web site.

We were fined $500k, for employing an Official, who was found to have joked to his recruiting staff in a private club meeting, that he would sack the lot of them if we didn't get the number 1 pick in the draft that year. Most people at the time thought that in itself was a joke, considering the real offence was tanking and it was acknowledged that many clubs did it and were rewarded with draft picks. The Bombers' Coach recently attacked several past and present AFL Officials, basically calling them liars and dishonest or corrupt. Yesterday the CEO of the AFL said neither the Coach nor his Club would be punished, as the AFL just wanted to get on with the game. Not even a please explain. I ask any reasonable person to decide which statement was more likely to bring the game into disrepute. It seems that a private joke, when made in a lowly club, is far more damaging to the game, than public statements, denigrating the very people running the game, made by someone from a powerful club. Well I have a new joke and it is the preceding line. Hey hang on, I might get fined by the AFL.

They didn't.

Give us back Jurrah, Davey and Aussie and I would be quite confident. Sadly I am not.

I recall the "Get Rid of Nathan Jones Thread" in about his 2nd or 3rd year with us.

Going out for brekky with the Missus, chance for a banana smoothie. Hope they have nice bananas in Bentleigh.

Yeah.

More flat over this loss than the Saints one.

Lions planning on another 4 points this week.
-
They meant 4-6 weeks, until they can call it another 4-6.
-
Well we certainly kick like dogs.

The Sun is shining. Almost forgotten what that looks like.

Was Heath Neville 187cms tall, quick, talented and a late convert to Aussie Rules?
-
Disagree. Jayden has never had a chance being injured continually. Think the list people would have wanted to see what he could do when fit and developed, before they made that call.

Incidentally, what is our record in the Northern Territory games and then the week after. If it is as bad as I suspect, despite the income we should dump them. Win games here and we will make more money from increased members, sponsors and better fixtures.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Redleg replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
What I didn't like was the stopping each time he got the ball, the poor disposal that then followed and the fact that 4 times he failed to retard Hooker, who he had hold of and then let him just run away with the ball and set up a score for the Bombers. -
So flat today after yesterday's game.

If you pulled 10 blokes out of the crowd, with beers in hand, I reckon having the same set shots at goal that our players did, they would score better. One of the few things these blokes have to do in life, is kick a football accurately. We dispose worse than most and our kicking for goal is generally poor.

Part of the problem is in the mindset of the mids, who try and barge through players. That is not a high percentage play as we see every week. Then when they are caught, they try the little handball, that is usually turned over. It is poor football and poor coaching to allow it to continue as it has for most of the year. If they want to learn how to do it, video Mitchell of the Hawks and see what he does. Geelong and the Hawks are famous for the quick release backwards, to a player coming forwards who then can dish off the ball. Effort and work rate are a big part of this, as when the first disposal is given off, other players forward of the ball are running to make space and give the option. We are poor at this. It comes from practice and game plans put in place by the Coaches. The same can be said of the loose man in defence, that has been used at least 3 times this year, that I can recall, to cost us a game, including yesterday. Why wasn't someone sent to Baguley by the Coaches to stop his clearances and cut off an easy way out for the bombers' defenders. Also why did our forwards play from behind the whole game, allowing the Defenders easy uncontested marks and possessions. Surely the Coaches could have addressed that early in the game when it became obvious. Further the long bombs into the forward line are useless when your key forwards are not marking the ball or bringing it to ground, like what was happening yesterday, yet we persisted with the long bombs.

Delistings/trades at end of the season

It might be pick 2 or even 1.
