I didn't mean to say that every kick from the stoppage has to be a sky high bomb, but rather that instead of stupid handballs that were ineffective and turned the ball over, time and time again, a kick to a player away from the pack would have been better. That is exactly what the Bombers did and it then allowed them time and space to set up for goal. We won the stoppages, but if you watch the game again you will see us with first hands on the ball, then a handball, then a turnover and then a Bomber running away with the ball.

Besides our woeful kicking for goal today and our woeful kicking into the forward line, I thought one of the biggest factors in the loss, was after winning a stoppage, we tried a little handball, instead of a kick forward, which multiple times was turned over and led to Bomber goals.

Even if you bounced off a ski lodge.

Agree and it doesn't help when you bomb and always play from behind, instead of running to meet the ball.
-
Didn't play in front once the whole game.

He was not in front of his man in one single contest. Obviously didn't either read the play or try, you can pick which one fits. Hurley had no trouble finding the ball.

I waste my time investing my passion in this club.

Has to get a possession first.

Are we seeing Geelongs culture crumbling?
Redleg replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think we are seeing Geelong's culture crumbling, but rather their best players getting close to the end of their careers. They were a great group and can't easily be replaced. Some have already gone and others are near the end. Hopefully we see the same with Hawthorn and Sydney, though Sydney keeps topping up with high draft academy picks. -
I think we all support him and hope to hell he becomes a good player for us, but..................

Not if the bad weather is as predicted. 6 goals in that case would be remarkable.

I understand the "get over it " philosophy, as it is done, but that doesn't stop you thinking about what could have been. It is compounded by the fact that most armchair experts on here wanted Ollie and the fact that he was a Victorian and good mates with Viney. Toumpas was considered top 4 by most recruiters and above Ollie. Our problem was that GWS didn't take him at 3, instead I think taking O'Rourke, who most would agree has been underwhelming, more so than Toumpas. It is pretty likely that if GWS had in fact taken Toumpas, we would have taken Ollie. The fact that they didn't probably spooked us and we had to decide whether to take the higher rated player over the lower rated one and we took the easy way out. A gutsy call would have given us a fantastic player. As I believe it was Todd Viney's call, he may have been worried about taking Jack's mate above a higher rated player. No need to mention it to him today, as he probably feels sicker than we all do, as it was his decision.

What is our form in hail?

I wish him a great debut in a big Demons win.

Didn't play well against the Eagles. i won't mention Ollie's best for Port last night either.
-
That is very distressing news.
-
That has been the trend.

It is looking to be pretty bad weather. If that is the case, I would rest both Spencer and Gawn, bring in Jamar, drop the younger, lighter bodies and Matt Jones and bring in the stronger bodies of Michie, Riley and even Jordie. If it is a hard slog, you need the stronger bodied, wet weather players.

Big call.

Think you mean 30 seconds.
-
Didn't hear that, but whoever decided that was the way to go is a genius. Next game maybe we could take off our wingers, to allow more room for our half back flankers to run through.
-
But they play us next week.
-
One of the few players on the list who can use the footy and set up goals.
-
Agree, but you forgot to condemn the kick it high into the forward line policy, the biggest joke of all.
-
Well the difference is that the Eagles would have beaten us anyway, but the Tigers were handed the game by the umpires. We got a very bad run again, but GWS were robbed of the win.
