  1. We are an inclusive thread and welcome all, even the tempted. You will notice however that the creator of this thread has not yielded to temptation and nor will he. He may visit the evil thread from time to time but never will he contribute. Long live the Not a Scully Thread.
  2. Gee the Eagles won the spoon last year and now they look good, all in one year. Can we do it next year and rise right up the ladder?
  3. This is probably not the thing to say on this thread, given I started it by wanting to avoid another thread, but here goes. If we lose you know who to GWS and end up getting shafted in the compensation deal, I will seriously look at whether it is worth giving so much energy to this club. I have supported the MFC all my life and have staunchly defended it and followed it both emotionally and financially as well as being a Director, Team Manager and even recruiter, but a poor compensation result would nearly be enough to finally declare us incapable of ultimate success. If you know who leaves, he will be the only priority pick to desert his club and within 2 years of being drafted. I can live with that, despite the crap we endured to get him and the hope we pinned on him. However if the MFC as a result are incapable of ensuring proper compensation, then I will lose all confidence in them. This is not about you know who this is about us if we have to, getting proper compensation from a parent company that has cut its child off at the knees. We have all the tools necessary to persuade the AFL to do the right thing. We have recently suffered big losses. Membership, sponsorship, donations and attendances are all at risk. I would fight as hard as is necessary. If the AFL indicates poor compensation to us, I would start to threaten to expose some of the dirt in the AFL cupboard which we should know all about. If the AFL retaliated and got dirty threatening us with poor fixtures, I would counter with, "we will expose that threat to the media". Therefore you would be exposing Administrators who are corrupt. Their positions would then be untenable. I am sure the big clubs fight dirty, time we did. Many will say I am overreacting and maybe I am. But in the words of Peter Finch in his last film role in Network, " I am as mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore".
  4. I think I read somewhere he would like to be back in Victoria but you could only get him by doing a trade as he would be a priority for them to keep. You would have to give them someone good for them to even consider it. Maybe they would want a Jared Rivers who is an experienced defender and form Adelaide and even another lesser player like Bate, Maric, Warnock etc. It's worth asking the question though. Butcher, Watts and hopefully Cook, Fitzpatrick or McDonald could solve the key forward positions in the years to come.
  5. Another blowout with Port losing by nearly 28 goals. No quick fix either with GWS and GC taking all the young talent. I think we are much better placed though than many realize.
  6. Me too. I am grand daughter sitting tonight. Agree on the smiling bit, they can make you happy even after a 31 goal loss. Her father who is a Pies member has said she can be a Melbourne fan if he has the next one. Looks like she will get her first membership next year. PS. Hope your daughter is ok soon.
  7. Agree, that is how I am feeling. Probably need another banana smoothie. Maybe I will add vodka instead of honey. PS. I am curious to see how Butcher goes for Port today.
  8. Ah, a new weekend and endless more crap to ignore on the other thread. What makes me happy I suppose is that this thread could go on forever whereas the other one must expire sometime. I am a simple man and easily pleased.
  9. At 194cms and mobile we have to make him into a good player, we just have to.
  10. I just refuse to believe that a kid who plays nearly every game at 18 in his first year, can fall apart as a footballer when he is 2 years older and a bit more experienced and stronger. There is more at play here as well as his injuries and interrupted pre seasons. Next year should be his year to grab a position and show us what he has got.
  11. What!!!!!!!
  12. I agree that a new Coach might be part of the answer. I just wonder if he needs a bit of love from the club. Some players go into their shell and lose confidence and feel that they are not part of the team going forwards and their game falls apart. I just get the feeling that Cale might fit into that category. A few good games to finish off the year, a new coach and new game plan and an uninterrupted pre season might be the making of Cale.
  13. The personal abuse has kicked in again on that other thread. It is actually remarkable that this topic that we don't discuss on here has taken up so much of people's lives. Getting back to more interesting matters, I hope Sylvia is recontracted soon and that we keep Morton. I just see a big upside for Cale who has clearly had a frustrating couple of seasons.
  14. Not sure how much Garry can achieve in his short time at the MFC, but one thing we are getting is a very experienced media performer who can answer questions directly and succintly. He is impressive in that regard and hopefully can get something positive achieved at the club.
  15. Glad you had a great time and a break from reading or posting on that other thread.
  16. Did you get the free desserts, what were they?
  17. Might have one back in the side this week. PS. I know he is not really russian.
  18. If you were watching the Geelong game on TV you would probably have 5 or 6.
  19. I actually enjoy the odd vodka with some lime and lemonade or kahlua on ice.
  20. I thought trolls ate mushrooms not bananas.
  21. It was that big petrol station/food outlet on the way to Avalon.
  22. Hangon might like this considering his avatar. I heard today that a business run by some black African men had been rung by someone from another business, who was upset with them. Without thinking he said to them "what kind of monkey business are you guys running"? It was only when the African man started threatening Racial Vilification did he realize what he had said and he then apologized and it was accepted. This is not a joke, it happened, just shows how careful you have to be. On another vein I saw bananas at $3.00 a kilo on the roadside on the way to the slaughter last week. Should have loaded up.
  23. Sorry but I had to Bump this thread as another insidious thread has surfaced about you know who. Will it never end? Well the sharemarket has bombed much like our team, but the sun is now shining and last news item said sharemarket starting to rebound. The price of bananas has dropped so my banana smoothie should be back in town. Jaded who nearly had a meltdown is back posting with passion. We have a new temporary Coach and temporary Football Celebrity, I mean Director and our effort against Carltank I mean Carlscum was improved. We have learned that we can't kick for goal and our disposal is less than VFL standard, but as required by the temporary Coach the boys had a red hot go. The same level of effort in the remaining games could see a few wins end off the season, putting us where most would have expected at the start of the season. We will have got some more games into a lot of players and we can then look at addressing why so many of our players have not improved like Morton, Blease and all of the indigenous boys for example.
  24. Don't drive home, catch a cab.
  25. Anything been happening?
