Personally Chook, I enjoy your posts and at this time of year I especially like the bits of gossip about possible trades etc, as it helps keep me interested. Of course every possible deal won't come off, but it is good to think about some of them and how the side would look different. I agree with you that until we become a good side we won't be seen as a destination club, but that will come and when it does we will have to remain so. You obviously know someone connected with the club and since the info is going across the Nullabor to you and then back again to us, I appreciate the info so keep it coming. While I enjoy your posts, I must admit that some of the stupidity written on here lately by a poster, predicting we will get every star player in the AFL, is just plain tiresome.

I am more concerned with WADA. $400k per year is about $100k over basic AFL pay. So it's not that much. if we get rid of a number of players on that basic pay, we obviously have plenty to spend and then we draft young players on start up pay. I am unsure how good Melksham is but I would imagine he is better than M. Jones, Bail, Terlich, McKenzie and Riley who look like following Jamar and Cross off the list. That is 7 before we start trading.

If he is our Cross for the next 2-3 years then that is ok. HL certainly won't be.

I think he is now the 10th player mentioned as being linked to the Saints. It seems certain clubs like the Pies, Roos, Blues and Saints are mentioned in connection to every player rumoured to be leaving his club.

I have been a supporter of Jack all the way, despite some anger at a few incidents and I can see why he would be considered for a trade. However I thought he improved his game this year, actually took a couple of hard marks after the debacle head duck game and got a bit better. Given his height, versatility and skills and the fact that we are getting harder and better all over the ground, we can afford to keep Jack and hope that he becomes the player we would like him to be. The fact that he seems to want to stay is another plus.
