Reminds me of Andrew McLeod.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Looking at the vision of todays hit out, HB just glides across the ground. I wonder if Burgess has encouraged this gait or is it natural?

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
No Zeph thats all Ive seen. Jumping at shadows maybe. But all players being fit we need to prepare for Essendon in Round 3. Id be surprised if we dont have 3 decent injuries from the 1st game. Hope not, but Im a pessimist. I expect all teams to leave nothing out for the 2nd round. Im also pessimistic in assuming we D'landers will be talking us up as the greatest team of all time before the game. I always get sucked in... I am going to try to employ the Stockdale Paradox next week - you must retain faith that you will prevail in the end, regardless of the difficulties. AND at the same timeโฆ You must be disciplined and confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
No one mentions that Steve May is suffering from a d1ckie back. Not 100% sure he is ok to go. My other thought about May is that like a certain No. 9 from 20 years ago, he might go from full back to Full Forward if we are deficient in forwards (TMac, Weid) that cant regain form. That is his original spot when 1st recruited. Tough, uncompromising, pack-breaking, great kick. Good target.

Isnt that Nibblers spot?

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
I hope you are right GNF. I could see him roving to Maxy in a clip. I wonder how many D'landers are busy recasting their best 22 for the blues... with Harley as a midfielder!!?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
The danger lies in not tackling HB hard enough at training in fear he might be frail. If that is a possibility, then we are setting him, and us up to fail. Put jack Viney on him for a session or two.

TRAINING: 2 Weeks to Go
It surprises many that Omac is still youngish - 23. We need to keep the investment up IMO. Hibberd has lost some of his speed and evasive skills but still has his work aptitude. This leads to him kicking round the corner or over his shoulder. he cant hit targets or do much except bang it.To me, finished. ANB Im conflicted with. His errors are there for all to see, but he is worth it because he makes it to the play. Who else is there waiting on the sidelines that can get to all those contests and butter up again? Hunt, Hannan? Nup.

TRAINING: 2 Weeks to Go
Im surprised the AFL did not increase the bench by at least one more player. I read that other codes were experiencing a high injury rate after comeback. With no reserves playing I thought this was a no-brainer for at least this season.

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
I firmly believe we need to include Jackson. He is going to be very good. he will contribute even in his 1st, but get games into him. We did that with Weid. It is now time to blood Jackson.

If Jackson were to play, who would he come in for? A tall forward, a midfielder? A medium forward?

Jon Anderson's Best 22 Since 1970
I should have said I wouldnt have chosen Fowler and Biff because my memories of them werent that clear. My memories of Barassi arent that clear either. He was my hero but i can only remember him speaking to us before a Grand Final in 1967. Being short he told me to punch my opponents arms in a marking contest. :) I have stronger memories in the 60's of Des Tuddenham whom, watching as a pie boy at the MCG in 1969 and 1970 won games off his own boot. He seemed under rated, as good as Leigh Mathews to me. Im surprised I havent copped cr@p over Warren Dean but he had poise and grace and Alan Johnson was a brilliant kick (and IMV)who only moved to the back pocket because he was sniped constantly on the ball and in the forward pocket.

Jon Anderson's Best 22 Since 1970
Id have Warren Dean on a Forward Flank and I loved Danny Hughes! Sean wasnt a full back he was CHB. I wouldnt choose Biff or Fowler.

Injury List 2020
I get the feeling we could go through an iceage for a millennium, then on return see Van den burg - progressing well.

Which MFC players do you leave out of the hub
I would be excited by the possible inclusions of any of Hannan, AVB and Bennell.

2009 ReDrafted
I was surprised Trengove was appointed joint captain as he was slow by then unfortunately. I remember posting that he might not even be best 22, he'd dropped his speed so much.

2009 ReDrafted
There were no Luke Molan moments in this draft. IIRC all our own pundits and the press thought we picked correctly. We used the same strategy in picking Trengove as we did with Clarry a couple of years later.i.e. A late bolter. Rear view mirror stuff.

GAME 18: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Yze vs Farmer
Who had most good years? Id say the Wizard. The ooze was great but had lots of quiet games. The Wiz was just something else.
