  1. I remember this time last year. I could not believe how many great players we had to choose a best 22 from. My hopes were slowly and excruciatingly dashed when it started to become apparent in late January and early February that those players who we were assured were merely a week away from full training, were in actual fact out for months. And months. Not a peep from the club, and that hurt too. Sorry to be a downer, I am still getting over it. Id prefer to wrap all our freshly minted '20 team all up in cotton wool till February... but then Id miss the training reports.
  2. Bruce Andrews was one of the first (along with separately RDB) to make a video about doing a drop kick. It was De Rigueur to study Bruce's lecture. The rather stern Bruce would be on World of Sport and maybe on Football Inquest.
  3. And somewhere else it was revealed that Jackson would be ours at pick 3. From a well known journo. November 13. It is fun but it isnt tight.
  4. Im not sure how many posters you are aiming at Moonie. But List managers talk to journos and each other. One of those lords got 12 out of 15 on a thread that had asked for it. What are the odds?
  5. I just remember Chicken Smallhorn, a name you cant forget. Up there with Steele Sidebottom.
  6. "On Seven, at Seven, Seven days from now".
  7. People laugh when I say all I want for Xmas is "No Injuries". With Jack and Tom back and May and Lever firing, and some Pickett/Bennell smooth moves, what more could you ask?
  8. B: JETTA, MAY, LEVER HB: HARMES, OSCAR, HIBBERD ? LANGDON, OLIVER, PETRACCA HF: MELKSHAM, T.MCDONALD, FRITSCH F: VANDERS, PETTY, PICKETT FOLL: GAWN, VINEY, BRAYSHAW IC: SMITH, SALEM, JONES, JACKSON EMERG: TOMLINSON, BROWN, ANB
  9. Tomlinson isnt fit, neither is Jonesy to the best of my knowledge. I think GOTO had a formula about those who missed full training pre-Christmas and their chances of missing games in the season. If fit Tomlinson would be a no-brainer. I have fingers crossed with Viney and Tmac. Our finals chances rests with these two doing full pre-seasons in my view and I understand they are being managed a bit.
  10. I have Weiderman behind Petty, Brown and Jackson as they are not only showing more ATM but more versatile.
  11. B: JETTA, MAY, LEVER HB: HARMES, OSCAR, HIBBERD ? LANGDON, OLIVER, PETRACCA HF: MELKSHAM, T.MCDONALD, FRITSCH F: VANDERS, PETTY, FRITSCH FOLL: GAWN, VINEY, BRAYSHAW IC: SMITH, SALEM, PICKETT, JACKSON EMERG: JONES, TOMLINSON, BROWN,ANB
  12. My country cousins called me a Yarra when I was a kid. They were cactus. Maybe just a Romsey thing.
  13. I think what ANB does do is get to the ball quickly, turns on a dime and in traffic either slots an unlikely goal or hits up someone in front of goal. Maybe he misses some set shots but generally to my mind he puts them through. He doesnt tackle hard and he does have some bad games but his positive abilities make him worth it. He seems to play well when the team is going well.
  14. It is a concern that TMac and JV seem to have foot issues still. Hannan and KK I have basically written off. It was after Xmas last year that it came apparent just how many were into long term rehab or had just started full training. It really rocked me and I thought I had seen it all.
  15. This dream is for you, so pay the price Make one dream come true, you only live twice... Nancy Sinatra
  16. I hope we would take him without batting an eye. But I did hear GWS do like Green.
  17. I have heard some recruiters have Green behind Rowell. It would be interesting if Green went No.2. Who do the demons call? I had heard that Young will slide past Dees maybe a few spots. And recruiters from some clubs have had a few discussions on how good Noah Anderson actually is.
  18. Pick 3 Jackson Pick 10 Young Pick 28 Taylor
  19. Whomever we bid on at 3, if there is not a match, many will perceive that we picked the lesser of the 2. Although a few will think a backroom deal was done. Coming last in consideration will be, we picked the player Melbourne need the most for the next few years. That's my punt.
  20. I have always thought Nibbler is good at making goals out of slim chances but still missing set shots.
  21. It might be a slight loss but the draftees keep sliding up and down on recruiters preferences. It says more about how highly strung this time of the year is. Not to mention how reactive the recruiters seem to be (or what they say to journalists). It does seem jackson has been a bolter and Young and maybe even Anderson(!) might slide. I think we are playing our hand very well. Be funny if we get Young and Jackson at 3 & 10. Edit: I can envisage the possibility of GCS deciding on Green instead of Anderson. But AFL have probably said they have made their bed.
  22. Fair enough Ian I do wonder if what was said "Live" may have been worse than what was ranted on DL during this year, in what would have been a larger audience.
  23. In defence of OMac critics we had to wait a year to hear from the club about the amount and seriousness of surgeries last year. I havent been a critic of OMac other than noticing he couldnt get off the mark quickly. Im not sure if it was used as I did not attend last night but it is a pet peeve of mine when the terms "We all know how bad..." are used to described incidents that DL could only guess at but were not confirmed by club officials. Acting as if you have missed the memo is an age old strategy to put one on the back foot.
  24. There is no Lochie Whitfield in the top 3- 5. That would be great. We can do with another excellent outside Mid. Tom Green is looking superb. But we have plenty of inside Mids. Hadyn Young? Even if he was another Basher Houli its a lot to spend on HBF. Luke Jackson? How many very good talls have we got from Centre to FWD? 2 - TMac and Gawny. It just makes sense to take Jackson even if Weid, Pruess and Bradtke come suddenly very good. Luke says he is ready to play Round one. His highlights are very good. Left and right foot, great groundskills and solid pack marks. 12 year player probably. I dont see whats not to like.
