  1. Has a team ever started at $1.12 to win after being 0.0.0 to 10.4.64 at quarter time in their previous game?
  2. The MFC player Stats for the game:- James Harmes 7 kicks 12 handballs 19 disposals 2 marks 5 tackles 66 dream team points Liam Hulett 11 kicks 1 handballs 16 disposals 5 marks 1 tackle 51 dream team points Dion Johnstone 2 goals 10 kicks 2 handballs 12 disposals 1 mark 7 tackles 77 dream team points Declan Keilty 1 goal 4 kicks 9 handballs 13 disposals 1 mark 8 tackles 11 hit outs 85 dream team points Ben Kennedy 1 goal 2 behinds 13 kicks 10 handballs 23 disposals 3 marks 4 tackles 93 dream team points Dean Kent 1 goal 1 behind 11 kicks 5 handballs 16 disposals 3 marks 8 tackles 93 dream team points Mitch King 4 kicks 8 handballs 12 disposals 1 mark 5 tackles 28 hit outs 74 dream team points Corey Maynard 4 kicks 3 handballs 7 disposals 2 marks 2 tackles 33 dream team points [injured] Jake Melksham 1 goal 5 behinds 26 kicks 9 handballs 35 disposals 7 marks 10 tackles 157 dream team points Billy Stretch 1 behind 12 kicks 11 handballs 23 disposals 6 marks 3 tackles 87 dream team points Jack Trengove 1 behind 16 kicks 7 handballs 23 disposals 5 marks 4 tackles 95 dream team points Mitchell White 17 kicks 4 handballs 21 disposals 7 marks 2 tackles 89 dream team points Sam Weideman 1 behind 3 kicks 3 handballs 6 disposals 3 marks 2 tackles 1 hit out 27 dream team points
  3. Big day for the club ... Pink Lady Day for Breast Cancer Awareness and 40,000 members for the first time. Playing at home with the prize for a win being a place in the 8.
  4. The fact that Liam Hulett has been picked on both the interchange bench for the Casey Seniors as well as in the line up for the Development League team suggests that the club might be sending him a little message that he needs to improve his act if he wants to remain on the list. I think he will keep his place this week but if his form doesn't lift it could well make it hard for him to retain his spot if there's an improvement in our injury stocks.
  5. It seems that he did well in testing at a special draft combine for NZers. Surely with our NZ connection (Max Gawn is from there), you would think we would snap him up as an international rookie if we possibly could?
  6. Statistics for the game v Geelong James Harmes 6 kicks 16 handballs 22 disposals 3 marks 11 tackles 1 hit out 101 dream team points Liam Hulett 14 kicks 1 handballs 15 disposals 4 marks 1 tackle 60 dream team points Dion Johnstone 2 kicks 2 handballs 4 disposals 1 marks 8 tackles 45 dream team points Declan Keilty 1 handballs 1 disposals 1 mark 1 tackles 9 dream team points [injured] Ben Kennedy 1 goal 1 behind 14 kicks 11 handballs 25 disposals 6 marks 4 tackles 97 dream team points Dean Kent 1 goal 1 behind 15 kicks 8 handballs 23 disposals 5 marks 4 tackles 99 dream team points Mitch King 3 kicks 4 handballs 7 disposals 4 tackles 23 hit outs 50 dream team points Corey Maynard 9 kicks 9 handballs 18 disposals 3 marks 4 tackles 69 dream team points Jack Trengove 13 kicks 14 handballs 27 disposals 6 marks 5 tackles 105 dream team points Josh Wagner 12 kicks 8 handballs 20 disposals 5 marks 6 tackles 91 dream team points Mitchell White 1 goal 15 kicks 8 handballs 23 disposals 6 marks 2 tackles 94 dream team points
  7. It's just another day but you wonder what else it's going to bring?
  8. The Casey Demons left out both Billy Stretch and Sam Weideman. Unless Weideman is carrying a mystery injury, it would be strange for him to be left out two weeks in a row. interesting.
  9. I guess a 2.40pm start is out of the question?
  10. This game was originally listed as the 1.00pm televised game but that's apparently been changed. The televised game now is Port Melbourne v Richmond. There seems to be some confusion as to when the Geelong v Casey match up is supposed to start (listed above as 2.40pm). Anyone know?
  11. If they're looking at a novel way to deal with the ruck problem, perhaps they might rotate ruckmen in every quarter - Pedo, Tom McDonald, Oscar McDonald with the freshest or best getting the final quarter and Jack Watts filling in with 5 minute stints when each ruckman is off the ground.
  12. With the changes announced at Melbourne, it's likely there will be no more than 12 MFC listed players in the Casey team. Historically, that means a struggle to win.
  13. The team has been finalised:- MELBOURNE B: Michael Hibberd, Tom McDonald, Neville Jetta HB: Jordan Lewis, Sam Frost, Bernie Vince C: Jayden Hunt, Nathan Jones, Jake Melksham HF: Christian Petracca, Jack Watts, Alex Neal-Bullen F: Jay Kennedy-Harris, Mitch Hannan, Jeff Garlett FOLL: Cameron Pedersen, Clayton Oliver, Jack Viney I/C: Tomas Bugg, Oscar McDonald, Christian Salem, Dom Tyson EMG: James Harmes, Billy Stretch, Sam Weideman IN: Tomas Bugg, Mitch Hannan, Jordan Lewis, Oscar McDonald, Cameron Pedersen OUT: James Harmes (omitted), Jesse Hogan (family bereavement), Jake Spencer (shoulder), Timothy Smith (lung), Billy Stretch (omitted)
  14. The VFL Tribunal must be more lenient than the AFL MRP. In the Jesse Hogan case the Carlton player developed headaches after the game (a symptom that might conceivably have been caused by another knock during the game or even from something else altogether) and played the following week but that was enough to put him out for 2 games. Brayshaw was immediately concussed and went off. Now misses at least one game presumably as a result of the hit and the perpetrator gets 1 game suspension?
  15. This excellent series returns in 2017 - Road to the Draft
  16. Son of Jay (who didn't play enough games to qualify under the father son rule), this Viney is starting out at Norwood - HARRY VINEY
  17. Almost forgot but it is a work day after all.

  21. With no team selection we can only go on the Casey Demons selected tonight or the coach's insights from VFL Round 1 - VFL player review: round one
  22. Pretty telling statistics which in part indicate which team had the greater desire to get the footy.
  23. 24. There's one Melbourne game from the distant past that always sticks in my memory. No ... it's not the 1964 grand final (not saying that wasn't memorable, by the way) but rather, it was the next game the Demons played immediately after winning the premiership - it was against Richmond in Round 1, 1965. The Tigers had been perennial losers ever since I could remember but they had a young up and coming side. We had won six flags out of the previous possible ten but were on the wane. We still had sufficient players experienced in the ways of winning while they didn't. We beat them by a goal that day because they had the talent but didn't know how to win - not even their most experienced players. Richmond lost their next two games as well but things started clicking for them. They learned how to win and they ended up finishing fifth. By 1967 they were winning flags and went through a golden era in their history over the next decade and a half. We won the first 8 games and then fell off the perch. There's a lesson there somewhere.
  25. Ex United Airlines security people, I believe.
