Time to go Goody?
I’m hoping for a revamped and refreshed football club.

Goalkicking
I’m pretty stunned to see Billings has managed to scrub his way to 112 career goals. I would have guessed about 2.

Time to go Goody?
I won’t speak for everyone, but the thing that irritates me most about Goody is not his deadpan delivery, it’s his persistent use of corporate-style word salad. I find it intensely annoying, both because it comes across as insincere and because he is also absolutely terrible at it. He often says things that are just pure nonsense. If he also communicates like that behind closed doors then it’s little wonder players are struggling to understand the game plan.

TRAINING: Wednesday 2nd April 2025
Sestan was the non playing emergency last weekend, so he’s probably not far from getting a game. Would be in over Howes this week if it was up to me.

Melbourne Fans Mindset
Max has been our one saving grace in the media over the years so even though I don’t like it, I’ll give him a pass on this occasion. But our overall messaging and media presence has been absolutely woeful since the flag. From the president, to the CEO, to the coach, to the media team it’s been one misstep after another. Muddled, unprofessional and frankly cringeworthy. We’re odds on for our fourth straight spoon in the Media stakes.

Melbourne Fans Mindset
I don’t blame anyone for whatever feelings they have about the current state of the club. Although I draw the line at leaning over the race shouting abuse. Those people have clicked over to full [censored] mode. If people don’t feel like turning up or lose interest or want to come on here and have a bit of a vent, nothing wrong with that. We can’t all be glass half full and the world would be a pretty dull place if we were.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
Do you mind me asking: is that all clearances or just center bounce?

It was clearly a deliberate tactic in Round 1 to aim for the top of the square which made a change from kicking to the pocket and also made sense given the conditions. We continued with the same tactic in Round 2. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. Opposition does its homework, and I reckon every opposition team knows we don’t change tactics often. They know what we’re going to do even after one game.

You reckon Goody just goes to Chaplin “up to you chappers, you know best”.

Assistants just do what the head coach wants them to do. My guess is Goodwin wants us to kick to a pack at the top of the goalsquare as part of his game plan so that’s what Chaplin is coaching them to do.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs North Melbourne
Three of the player position changes we’ve made haven’t worked and won’t ever work imo. Langdon was one of the best wingers in the game. Crazy to have him playing midfield. Rivers needs to go back to being a defender - I’m not even sure what he’s doing now but he doesn’t have the ball handling and nous to play in the middle. And Fritter looks completely lost up the field - just as did when Goody had him playing as defender.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
Terrible luck for Jeffo. Hope it’s not too bad.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs North Melbourne
There’s no doubt we’re a team in two minds at present. At our best under Goody as a “forward half” team, we forced the opposition to chip around their backline to avoid kicking it to our well set up zone. Now we’re seemingly doing what we used to force the opposition into, except bizarrely we’re doing it by choice. Weird.

Time to go Goody?
There’s just way too much smoke to ignore. I’m grateful for what Goody and the team achieved in 21’ but it’s been a downhill slide, on and off the field, since. It’s fast becoming an avalanche. Things could turn around but it would have to start basically from next weekend. There’s been a lot of heat on the club in recent times however Goody has got off lightly. That loss and his press conference and his preseason gibberish mean the gloves are off. I don’t see him coping. On the bright side, I think there’s a real opportunity for the club to rejuvenate itself in the coming months/year with a new CEO, new coaching team and new president. I hope we have the courage to take it.

Simon Goodwin. Bloody hell. Hold the pen, write the story. Ffs what does that even mean? You honestly have to be either an absolute moron or undergoing some kind of psychological breakdown to speak like that in public. Thanks for your service as they say, but maybe a couple of decades spent somewhere nice and quiet might be the best thing for him, and us.

I definitely think for new fans, whether they are young kids growing up with footy or adults new to the game for whatever reason; logos, colours, jumpers are all pretty influential. If anyone has ever watched a “New to AFL” YouTube video, it’s pretty much the first criteria potential support is based on.- Club Emblem
I find that bottom one a bit camp tbh. Which isn’t to say I don’t like it, just that I think it belongs in the past. I’m very much for our current logo for official/corporate type stuff (but also available on some merchandise) and the flaming demon as a mascot type logo. I think both could be used very effectively.
