  1. No one puts any attention into Jayden Short. Nearly 1000 metres gained tonight.
  2. 1. Get Petracca back in form. He is our X-factor and when he fires we normally do too. 2. Starting owning the corridor again. Take the game on when we have it with quick, efficient ball movement. Clog up the opposition's use of corridor by forcing so many turnovers they will never want to go through there! :) 3. Move Gus back to the wing or move Salem. We don't need two quarterbacks. Would rather Brayshaw playing a role in the midfield. to support Clarry, Trac, Viney, etc 4. Fix Lever's foot and Petty's calf (?). 5. Find a way to combat Langdon tag. He's our prime mover and so much of our ball movement relies on him. 6. Threaten to delist ANB again. He is no where near as effective as last year and maybe too comfortable! 7. Get our pressure up to at least a reasonable level! ie, not 17th! 8. Keep swapping our small defenders (Bowey, Hunt, Rivers, Hibberd) around until one of them finds some decent form! 9. Kidnap Darren Burgess. 10. Learn to kick a torpedo. At least that way if you are going to bomb it into the forward line is makes it much harder for defenders to read!
  3. Interesting that Jack is doing dial-a-quote for the Hun these days.
  4. Mihocek wouldn't have kicked four on Redmayne!
  5. Owning the corridor used to be our thing! Now we have trouble defending it and when we do get a chance to go through there, we play safe. This is also contributing to the lack of forward 50 marks and what Goody refers to all the time: connection. Go wide and you let opposition teams get numbers back and makes scoring more difficult.
  6. Tried much harder today. The marking is the concern.
  7. Who cares? Supporters of all teams boo. They probably (justifiably) thought the medallist should have come from their team. Least of our worries at the moment.
  8. All fair, although Hibberd was decent...
  9. Think it was Sidebottom not Maynard.
  10. 6. Oliver 5. Brayshaw 4. Viney (despite his kicking) 3. Jordon 2. Petty, but Mihocek kicked 4 1. Hibberd (solid, but not sure who he played on).
  11. Couple of thoughts: 1. Are we as fit as last year? The Burgess effect was incredible. Have we slipped back a few notches? 2. The game plan. Too slow to get ball into a stagnant forward line. Bomb the ball seems to be the modus operandi. Asking too much of the likes of Fritta. 3. Tracc. has lost confidence. 4. Teams are isolating Bowey and exploiting his one-in-one defensive abilities. 5. We still can't take a contested mark 6. When you are constantly 20 + points ahead you have to go even harder. 7. Salem still needs a month of playing to get fit. 8. Teams think they can get us through the corridor now.
  12. Some good signs but gee our decision making and efficiency is poor at times. Need Kozzie to get involved and ANB to make more of his opportunities. Jackson better this week but not making them pay. Oliver, Petty, Jordon good.
  13. Disco Turner in! I like. Been some good footballers over the years from Albury. Reckon he might be another. Go well Disco!
  14. Maybe a debut for Turner? Exciting times 😀 Is difficult to see how Hibbo could be fit after only one VFL game but he's the lockdown defender we need.
  15. Can understand the sentiment but our problems are midfield-related. Is it a coincidence that a quiet/ineffective Petracca has seen us lose two on the trot? Why, Gawn aside, can we not take a contested mark? Why has our pressure around the pill dropped so dramatically this year? Read on here we are ranked 17th which is damning. With Salem returning is it time to get Gus back on the wing? Are ANB, Spargo and Kozzie as effective as they were last year? Are our negating players (Harmes and Sparrow) doing their jobs, especially scoring on turnovers?
  16. To kick three and should have been four when he was double and tripled teamed all day was a great performance. I would dispute your opinion that Brayshaw was Melb's second best. Defensively he was very poor.
  17. As an underager it seems like he is not overawed!
  18. Geez, Will Brodie has become a player.
  19. Jackson is in horrible form. Can't take a mark and disposal at the moment is horrendous. Disposal efficency was 30 percent tonight.
  20. One of the worst things is we are not honouring leads anymore. Prefer to bomb it to top of square. The number of times blokes were 10 metres clear and we ignored them was ridiculous. Fritsch and BBB are regularly double and triple teamed so there must be better options. Maybe it is a game plan thing where if there is a turnover after a lead the counter attack is much easier than if we bomb it to congestion.
  21. 6. Max 5. Viney 4. Oliver 3. Jordon. 2. Fritta 1. Brayshaw, but I didn't like some of his defensive efforts tonight.
  22. It ain't the end of the world. But we have a few worries. Our hunger seems to have dropped off. The kids Jackson, Bowey, Kozzie and Sparrow are struggling. Jackson in particular was again ordinary. Our forward structure seems disfunctional. People will pot BBB tonight but he had no hope on most occasions tonight. A backline with Tomlinson, a half fit Petty and Hunt is probably not going to cut it. Petracca's stats look OK but he was pretty ineffective. Positives: Harmes, Salem and others will get fitter after injury lay offs.. Max played one helluva game. Viney cracked in hard.
  23. Outside of Max, can anyone take a contested mark?
  24. Defensively, we are pretty poor. Out tackled, out harassed. Reid and McDonald dominant for Swans. Reid six tackles himself. Umpiring is horrendous. Not getting the ball in the forward line quick enough.
