  1. This is an old article - from 2015 - but I don't recall anything announced that changes it: "the AFL decide[d] that clubs matching late bids for academy or father-son picks would not risk pushing back their first selection the next year if they owed points. Instead, they will be able to pay back the remaining points in the same round that the bid came" from AFL closes draft bidding system loophole Not sure what happens if White is nominated in the 2nd round as we don't currently have a R2 in 2026.
  2. This. Also I hope he can really embrace an on-field and training mentoring role. I think he has it in him (he's also a new dad so that might help with the vibes). I think we also need to recognise that he isn't the uber-flexible defensive lynchpin anymore - covering talls and smalls. He can't go with the smalls like Jamie Elliot or the fast leading fowards like Gunston and Georgiades. He needs to be brought into the team with a matchup in mind.
  3. Aren't we giving to Clarry while he plays for the Giants?
  4. I was just thinking about that. Front loaded contributions are a lot more palatable. Equal Per year Front-loaded 2026 650,000 2,300,000 2027 650,000 237,500 2028 650,000 237,500 2029 650,000 237,500 2030 650,000 237,500 Total 3,250,000 3,250,000
  5. I might be naive to Trac's true value in the AFL world, but pragmatically I would be happy to add future picks to secure Humphrey. Something like Dee's get Humphrey, Pick 7 2025, Gold Coast's F1 2026 and we give up Tracca, F1 2026 F1 2027 (highly compromised Tas draft). We retain a F1 in a better draft (2026) via the pick swap - Both teams get to death ride each other! We get an emerging superstar. & GC get a better return for Humphrey than if they wait for the Hawthorns, Collingwoods and Geelongs to offer them two late first rounders in compromised drafts.
  6. I'd really like to know if any other clubs are affected in the same way as us with Tairon Ah-Mu. What is the harm in allowing someone who would be eligible next year be available as an NGA this year? What is the disadvantage to other clubs?
  7. Was this statement from Trac really split for clickbait purposes?? Can anyone who watched confirm? “I get paid … It’s my job ... It’s not just my job, it’s my passion. I love footy. I am competitive.” becomes “I get paid … It’s my job." And later, Christian said some other stuff that might be relevant in forming a view as to Christian's character.
  8. Agree on Petty as a back in the long term and the sooner we can bed in our new generation backline the better. I'd like to see Salem as the regular sub in 2026 - he is a good kick, he has some positional flexibility, and maybe his fresh but slow legs won't be such a liability against tired opposition.
  9. Yes, but does that mean the end of the AFL Home and Away Season, after the Grand Final, the end of the AFLW season, after the B&F, after the AGM, December generally or December 31st? Just asking for a couple of journo friends.
  10. This is not specific to Tracc, but one of the impressions I got over the Goodwin tenure (especially the 2021-2023 period) is that he had such trust in the game plan and the ability of our 'team defence' to ratchet up the pressure - that I got the feeling that we essentially went into games saying "We'll see how our standard play goes and increase effort if we are forced to" which really invites the risk of a slow start and I can't help but wonder if subconsciously this has also been taken on by the players with their individual games.
  11. I like Disco, but I would need an analysis of his chi energy before looking at him for captaincy.
  12. I hope it will be a summer of significant change. In the assumed absence of players wanting to be traded out, I would delist: - Billings - McDonald (or replace with TMac with Campbell if we trade in a backup ruck) - Spargo - Woewodin - Fullarton - Laurie (Delist & Re-Rookie for final year of contract) - (R) Henderson - (R) Hore - (R) One of Sestan / K Brown Which gives us the space to add: - ND Second Round Pick (Currently #24) - Toby Sinnema - Kalani White - Trade in Wade Derksen - Player X via Trade / FA / SSP - Player Y via Trade / FA / SSP

  14. It's a good deal as long as he keeps getting them through the big Styx.
  15. The journos haven't updated their 'Player X wants to leave Demons' article template from Petracca to Oliver yet!
