Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
I wish Goody or someone in leadership at the club would say something like this in response to scumbag journalists (who definitely find material on this site): A beloved team mate is dealing with well-being and mental health issues. He needs stability and support. He doesn't need wild speculation about his motivations or future by self-interested journalists who have poor reputations and notoriously unreliable records. He does not need distraction and temptation by a corrupt club backed by politicians, media and billionaires to cheat the accounting rules. That club has previous and ongoing form for improperly enticing champion players and collaborates with them by encouraging problematic behaviour to get them released early and cheaply from contracts. To ensure a fair condition the AFL needs to clamp down on that corrupt club by ensuring that players cannot be improperly enticed through payments in kind and other off book entitlements and property given to related parties. They've obviously offered a nod and wink agreement to two current players, one at Bulldogs and one at Demons. It's a disgrace

Yeah, better than coming out with BS about the culture being best in the AFL or best in 40 years or such nonsense.

MATCH REVIEW: Star Demon charged with umpire contact - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1306990 I was there and watched the mini replay (25 minutes) but don't remember seeing what this incident was,!?

At the ground last night we were lucky to be dealt a winning hand of four aces and one Jack: Bowser, Max, Sparrow, Chandler and Jack Viney.

Time to go Goody?
Even when we were winning Goodwin had us playing a bruising ugly style of football (bar 2018) that was always about Contest and Defence. It was never contest, defence and Kicking Goals. It was getting it forward, locking it in their territory and hoping that statistically we'd keep their scores low and score a few more than them. It was tedious and painful to watch us grinding out games and it would be exhausting and painful to play. That style of play does not have longevity. It would take a huge physical toll on players like Viney, Gawn, Oliver, May etc and we're seeing the downside of that now. So yes some of them look exhausted and slow, some of them are physically broken, midfield and followers are institutionalised. Forwards are totally demoralised and let down by lack of coaching in forward craft. There's a focus on defence first and bombing it to contests, whilst discouraging leads. That bit is incomprehensible, but SG doesn't prioritise offence. They're all symptoms. The cause is the coach. Time to address the cause

Time to go Goody?
I think you're right with some of these appraisals. Nevertheless some of these are still young players and even some of the older ones could be playing better than they are. But looking at the body language it seems like team spirit is shot. The selfish carry on of a number of senior players has had a corrosive effect. And that's selfishness on and off the field. Even a diehard Demon like Viney cooking up that payday extension wasn't a good look. Every man for himself is the vibe from quite a few. My perception of their body language and playing way below their capability accords with something you said about a work to rule. I think they don't want to win as a protest to force a change of coach. If that's the case it must be pretty bad internally to have them resort to that. If this is correct they must collectively think that literally any other option would be better. Or maybe it's a combination of ageing players, entitled selfish players, incapable players and poor coaching? I'll go again tomorrow, but I won't bring my kids. I'm dreading it, like the prospect of voluntarily submitting to a punishment beating.

What gets you excited about the club?
The prospect of us playing exciting football that challenges our players to reach their skilful potential. The prospect that we might finally cohesively connect midfield and forwardline and score plentiful goals. The presumption that soon there'll be a change in coaching staff who bring this about. I hope they will create an environment that encourages creative, joyful, positive attacking football that's fun for them to play and for us to watch. The glimmer of hope about having a home ground at some stage within a decade.

It might have been something I wrote as a joke and I apologise if that's what you're referring to Andy

The Luke Beveridge Thread
Woof woof woof! Warning barks from me! I really really hate the idea of Bevo becoming our coach. He's as stubborn and tactically rigid as a dog with a bone. His list of quality greyhounds has performed more like whippets. He really plays favourites with some whilst leaving others in the doghouse. GRRRRR! NO BEVO, NO! BAD DOGGIE, BACK TO YOUR KENNEL

Hi FG, how do we contact the club? I've only ever seen a membership email address

New coach prospects
That article in the Age about Longmire last weekend talked about he's enjoying developing his new training coaching business associated with the Swans. It also talked about how he was enjoying spending time with his children and travelling. It didn't sound like a fella who'd be in a hurry to move interstate and reverse commute to Casey fields.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
It's very simple stuff that's not happening. 2 goals in a first half. I've said it before on here but back in my amateur Gaelic Football days (where it's hard to score in the small goal with a keeper), that would be embarrassingly low. It was so painful to watch the first half and last quarter. Who will lead towards a ball carrier? Who will kick it to their advantage? We got goals when we lowered our eyes or when we turned inside. Why defend grass and let them accumulate their highest ever number of disposals? Why tackle low and let them handpass? Or throw out a weak outstretched arm they can just run through? Why let them run out the clock? Where was the pride in letting them score 5:1 goals in the last quarter?

Five goals to one in the last quarter. 57 points! Other teams are laughing at us.

Bayley becomes a dad
This is great news! Even off the pitch good old Bailey was working the body under the high balls and hitting the target last July
