  1. And I love them all, but I wouldn't draft them, even if they were talented enough. Too tempremental.
  2. I said the same about Toumpas. Proven correct Mr wokester.
  3. Im not sure about that. Look at Luke Jackson, Jesse Hogan and many other interstate draftees. Nothing personal, but heritage is signifcant, whether it be Greek, South or Western Australian, or even Qld based. Recruiters look at parents, why not look at heritage?
  4. There are some successful players of Greek heritage, but if you compare longevity with players of Italian heritage, then there is no comparison. Why? Methinks that Australian Italian culture really plants itself wholly in Australia, while Australian Greek Culture, always has one foot in Greece. This mentality may effect their resilience in footy, and must be considered. In saying that, Ive got plenty of Greek friends, and they are a wonderful people, and have a wonderful traditional culture.
  5. Greek heritage usually does not bode well for longevity in AFL football. Just saying.
  6. Every player has a price attached, based on salary cap pressures, opposed to budgetary pressures, which is a dissapointing. If Harmes thinks he is worth more than the club has earmarked, then good luck to him. We can't offer everyone what they think they are worth. Although, it would be interesting if the salary cap was removed.
  7. We have the best recruiter in the business. Let him at it. If he can draft some gun 18 year Olds, on the back of decent fringe players leaving, more power to us. The more list spaces we have available, the more we can maximize the skills and talents of the our clubs greatest asset, the Architect.
  8. Momentum is one hellovabitch. Moreso, lack of it. You can't just turn it on. Big year for Goodwin in 2023.
  9. Fritsch offers nothing at ground level??????? Are we talking about the same Fritsch? You know, the one that crumbs the ball on the run and can snap left and right while baulking opposition? That Fritsch?
  10. Jackson is a gun, and will be absolutely elite for the next 10 years. He is only 20 years old, and big players take longer to mature. This year was a wake up call to coaches, players and supporters. Next year will be different. I would not change our list much at all, albeit, playing J.Smith and JVR up forward, and rewarding more Casey players for good games. Jackson is a lock for us.
  11. 6 - petty 5 - langdon 4 - oliver 3 - petracca 2 - pickett 1 - anb
  12. Our forward line is clogged, we bomb it up and always have two big guys contesting. There is no space, and we barely have a strong leading forward running into open space. The problem lies directly with the coaching staff. They need to go back, and look at videos of the 80's, when forwards were given opportunity to contest, one on one, and kick goals. We have one of the most talented marking forwards I've ever seen in the Melbourne colours, in Fritsch. Why net set him up similiar to how they set up Modra. Using Ben Brown and Jackson at CHF, in a roll similar to Stuart Lowe at the Saints in the 90's.
  13. Melksham on notice. As so much, he will probably kick 6 from HFF No changes.
  14. Sorry, but I come from the Allen Jakovich generation. Gee, the similarities up forward from Trac and Jako are evident. Maybe, this is the right time, especially with our problems with tall forwards, to push Ben Brown up the ground (CHF), and place Trac and Fritsch in the Goal square, with Kozzie/Spargs crumbing. Or, open up the forward line completely, and let Trac go one on one, aka Jako. We have not tried it yet.
  15. Gun goal kicking forwards; Dunstall, Ablett, Lockett, Jakovich, Modra, Fevola, Capper, Carey, Farmer. How tall were they????? Maybe we have forgotten how to play/coach footy properly? It seems nowdays, the forwardline is jam packed, and we just bomb it down. I still remember how we structured for Jakovich, and how they structured for Dunstall. We can't just blow teams away from the midfield, without delivering to a leading forward in an open forward line. Our system sucks at the moment. Nb. If we had a proper forward structure, there is no reason why Fritsch can't be the equivalent of Modra. Also, De Goey is available to be another Ablett. If only the structure suited.
