Yeah but at the same time players being forced to play for a club they hate & don’t want to be at isn’t good for the game. Imagine your boss telling you that your stuck at a [censored] job where you hate the place & that you’re not allowed to leave. The AFL is the most draconian, backwards comp in the world in this regard & it hasn’t made the comp any fairer or even in 1 single way,despite what they preach.

People saying we don’t need him & that we hold the upper hand are delusional. We have 0 ruck depth, not even a VFL standard back up & there is no chance of getting a ready made kid from the draft. If Max goes down we will have a VFL plodder like the Weid rucking which would be the worst result possible. Collingwood know we are desperate, we have met him & said we want him, so we have shown our hand. As a few have said giving up a pick in the 20s is nothing if it makes us stronger & we know what we are getting. We cannot afford not to get him, so we won’t be playing hardball in any way at all, it’ll get done reasonably early so we can move on without the bluff & [censored].

Yep I clearly am serious. The club & supporters accepted mediocrity & weren’t ruthless for far too many decades. There isn’t a player I would ever care that they punted if it made us better.

The whole attitude of loving an average player is the reason we were the worst sporting club in the country for over half a century, but that should be over now. I’m not denying he played AFL or 100 games, but majority of those were while we were pathetic to be honest. I also acknowledge that another club took him, but be realistic that club list is one of the worst seen in the modern area so it’s not saying much. I mean I didn’t hear Geelong, Swans, Pies chasing him, just junk clubs that are desperate. We clearly didn’t want him so I’m on the winning side of this conversation because he ain’t a Dees player anymore, which I’m happy with.

Agreed. All everyone mentions is speed. I couldn’t care if he was Aussie Bolt, he has 0 ability outside of his speed. His amazing speed only gets him to a pathetic 10 stats a game which he burns. How can you be quick but not win more possessions or get to more contests? It means he either tums to the wrong spots or then isn’t good enough to win the ball. Clear the list, free up some money & pick any one of 100 blokes in the draft.

What he had was the ability to find very little of the ball & then burn the very few pozzies he got. About time the club got ruthless, we failed miserably this year & the only way you get better is by moving dead wood.

To be honest I couldn’t care less & even a pick in the 50s would probably land us someone better than him. Never rated him & clubs only get better by moving on the bottom tier blokes each year. I see him purely as depth but think we have enough to cover him , as there are 100s of players of his calibre. Yep he’s quick, but who cares when you only touch the ball 1 times a game & then burn 30% of them or get caught holding it. The supposed strength of his is speed, yet for the life of me I can’t understand how if that’s his strength then he can only get the call 10 times a game. This says he has no footy IQ, can’t read the play or the ball, which is useless. Yep people will bag me & defend him, but you don’t have a leg to stand on as clearly the club didn’t rate him & or want him & I’ll back our FD over anyone on here.

Not being critical of you but there is no way in earth we get 2 x first rounders plus an early 2nd rounder for a bloke that isn’t a specialist in any one position, nor an established A-Grader. At very best we get 1 first rounder & then their 2nd rounder, but I suspect it won’t even be that. He has sulked & wants to run to mummy & he’s said nothing, so he won’t be pushing for the Dees to be rewarded. We hold no cards in the deal as there is no way we don’t let him go to Freo for what they offer. In regards to Grundy again I suspect we give up that 1st rounder that we get from Freo as we have overplayed out hand, met him in public & announced to the world that we want him & will take him. Collingwood know we are desperate for him, so even though it’s a dump, we won’t risk not taking him. Also people will say it’s overs but they’re also the same nuffies that said the Lever deal was massive overs & that we got screwed in the deal. End of the day that trade won us a premiership & if the same happens with Grundy it can’t in any way be considered overs. I don’t care if it means we don’t get a young kid that probably gets cut or maybe makes our team in 5 years time, I want more premierships while in our window.

100%. Half forwards that kick one freaky goal a game are a dime a dozen. Starting rucks who are 20 are unicorns. There are half forwards at every club & many more waiting in the VFL etc, but not Rucks of AFL ability. I mean he could be good, but he ain’t a kid or elite at least, he’s a role player that’s needed, but you can do without. There will be another 20 next year that debut but I bet there are no Rucks under 20 making debuts.

Every club built from scratch, so incorrect. Albeit clubs like us over 100 years ago. But more recent Suns/GWS/Crows/Freo/WC all started with 0 players in their list & had to pick a 1st. A small half forward gets trumped by a Ruck every day of the week.He’s not a hun mid, not even a decent kid & he’s the typical flashy shoe off that would rather kick 1 freaky goal in a game & do nothing for the rest of it over being a 20+ possum player a fake. Not saying he won’t he good as he’s young, but will never get classed as an elite mid, I’m confident of that.Ruck wins out as they are rare & take longer to develop. You rarely see a Ruck under the mid 20s playing every week let alone under 20, but every year small forwards & mids debut by the dozen.

Nah I feel sorry for anyone that doesn’t want their club winning every flag. I don’t care who plays for the clubs I follow, if they’re criminals, [censored] etc, as long as they win for the club. Premierships are all that matters & the people that think otherwise were part of the reason our club was one of the worst sporting club in the country year after year.Too many people accepted mediocrity for far to long & it not only cost the club wins, it cost them decades of supporters & future members.

True, I pushed mine to Rugby League as Aussie Rules turned into a softer sport than my daughters netball. Part of life, can’t be scared that they may get a scratch, a bump or a cut in life. I mean jeez let’s just all breed fat kids that sit inside on an X-Box because we don’t want them in the big bad world.

Glad he got let off as the game & the fans have gone softer than that other round ball football code these days. Always reward a player going for the ball & he jumped to go for the ball. Wish there was more of it & also wish they let a defender wrap a forward around the ears when going for a mark, earn your kicks. The while concussion thing is garbage, you sign up to play a contact sport & there should be no legal case for compensation down the track.

Done. Hopefully last game he ever plays for the club. No heart,no hunger & no desire. Time to move on, trade him for a 4th rounder at best & wipe out hands clean.Can’t believe anyone sees any hope in him still, he runs away from contests,has no 2nd effort & doesn’t want to be an AFL player.To say that he got pushed around or grabbed last night is such a pathetic claim as it’s every defenders job to do that. I mean blokes like Lockett,Dunstall,Ablett ran around in ankle deep mud, hail etc & still performed. He played on a perfectly manicured oval with no mud,but a light drizzle yet it hampered him? Rain also doesn’t stop a player from crashing a pack, from leading, from 2nd efforts etc, he never got near the ball so you can’t blame a light just on his stinker of a performance.

Exactly. Grundy won’t be taking a pay cut as he has a legal contract. It will be the money split between us & the filth that decides the trade,but he will still be getting the same $$ value either way.
