Unfortunately this will hurt our momentum going into next year. We rode the wave of the grand final coming into this year with our start, we won't have that next year and we'll be fighting to contend up the top... We only have a 3-4 year window with this group and blown 1 already. Trac, Gus, Langdon, Lever all 27 next year.. God help we change up the way we play. The game has shifted to a more pressure and fast ball movement type of style and our style just can't compete. We've just regressed back to the laughing stock of the comp with these finals performances.

Last year was our only flag with this group if Goodwin stays as coach. He just isn't up to it. The only way we contend next year is to significantly change our gameplan.

Do or Die Today! The boys have gotten up and performed every time this year when we were questioned and the pressure was on. We smashed Brisbane coming off a 3 game losing streak, smashed Freo in Perth when we needed to after 3 mediocre games, got over the line against Carlton to keep our top 4 dream alive and lastly beat Brisbane in Brisbane to secure top 4. Yes we didn't beat Sydney for an easy Prelim spot but today is different, we lose and it's over, so we need to win and I think the boys will get it done. After that, Geelong won't seem like such a massive challenge and we can beat them. Before you know it we're in another GF. Let's go dees!

Nah. Our gamestyles just do not matchup well for Brisbane whether you like or not. The same way we can't play against Sydney or Collingwood, they can't against us. In my opinion them trying something different and learning from our previous encounters is bogus. They won't go away from how they play, 'contested' and 'forward half' brand of footy. Our defence worries them and they can't beat us in the middle. We should be right, the way we played last week would beat them by 4 goals.

Are you assuming in your estimation that about 5-10% of people who bought tickets won't show?

If he's needing surgery then why the hell does he continue to play. It doesn't seem very wise. I remember he had a minor tear to a tendon in r16 and that is still affecting him? Should have been dealt with sooner..

Do these people not realise that that is the definition of their team? They've gone to butter in every one of their important games in recent years. No you lose, and you've blown a 4 year premiership window and only made 1 prelim. We have 1 premiership to show after one dominant year. You can't help this bunch it seems....

Thanks this is the respond I was looking for. You seem informed, can you tell me how many seats each level holds? I assume level 1 and 4 hold a good chunk of the total MCG seating capacity, but it'd be interesting to know.

I'd argue Melbourne fans have more incentive to turn up as it might be our last final this year. Maybe I'm giving Melb fans a bit too much credit though...

It doesn't really make sense to me. In round 15 we drew 40k on a Thursday night and it wasn't a final. Considering that, is 60-65k really wishful thinking for a final? One thing what we can be sure on though is that the crowd will be 80/20 in our favour. A lot less support for the lions in vic than Sydney.

So who here can give us an educated guess on what the crowd number will be? All I've seen is that roughly 28,000 AFL Member tickets had been sold on Monday morning excluding the MCC. The MCC holds 23,000 seats and I'd assume it'd be filled to the brim. That's about 50,000, plus whoever is getting tickets over the week. Is 65k realistic?

That's just members am I right? Surely sale will keep going until then end of the week. What's depressing is how few lions members have bought tickets. Collingwood has roughly double our members so the numbers add up.
