GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Carlton
At the very least it seems like we can have confidence in our future on the D50. McVee, Bowey, Petty very good line-up to take over May, Lever when they retire. And Disco Turner growing season after season. Hopefully now we can focus on KPF and some more polish and class with the foot in our midfield.

Whatever happened to the date and run the team showed in the two pre-season games? I had very high hopes that are now dead. I will still be there supporting the team but it's getting very frustrating and hard to sit in front of the TV or attending the games.

Yep, supporters mentality must change. We now have a champion team, and unfortunately that means we should expect the best performance from this group every single game. I am not saying the playing group has to be perfect and go 23-0 every year But it does mean that you expect them to show real care, hunger and determination even when things are not going your way. We can lose, any team loses. It's the way you lose and how those "learnings" (my most despised word) don't seem to come to fruition, feel like empty words from the coach sometimes.

Goodwin rank among AFL coaches
Well Scott has them playing finals and top 4 year in year out. The way things are looking today we may struggle to make the 8. If this becomes another wasted year... How are we going to feel about the whole thing?

Goodwin rank among AFL coaches
It's not about these 2 losses. That's why I made my point about his whole tenure. Go ahead and check seasons 2017 - 2023 and rate each one, how many would you consider successful? This year is starting to feel like the second half of last year.

Goodwin rank among AFL coaches
A couple of weeks ago a Pies supporter told me Goodwin is not a great coach, almost saying he was lucky to have a flag and overrated. I actually tried to defend Goodwin's coaching and told him about how good his defensive structures are and how the players believed in him, almost like a father figure. I am now starting to believe that what my Pies colleague said is true, Goodwin is overrated. I started to go through all the seasons we have been under his wing, lots of wasted seasons and missed opportunities (see 2017 and 2020). I still believe we have a top 5 list, is the coach good enough for this list? Where would you place Goodwin among all the current AFL coaches? Top 6? Not even top 8?

PODCAST: Rd 11 vs Walyalup
When are we going to question our premiership coach? Or does he get a free pass by merit of 2021? I believe this season is cooked, can't see any ingenuity or dare from this coach to try and change the momentum of this team. I hope I am wrong though. If we fail this year, that's already 5 wasted seasons by Goodwin (2017, 2019, 2020, 2022 & 2023), is this acceptable? You could argue 2017 they were too young, 2019 all the injuries. But what about 2020, 2022 and this year?

It is a waste IMO. The coaching group has stuffed things since middle last season. I think at our best we can be top 4. However Goodwin is clearly an overrated coach, it looks like 2021 was his one magic year. I hope I am wrong but that's how I perceive him, and I am tired of the lessons and learnings.
