  1. Can I add that little twerp that wears his old man’s footy shorts when he gets a game for the Filth (Ginnivan) to the list?
  2. I keep saying, ABC- anyone but Collingwood Go Brisbane!
  3. Please no. I detest him on so many levels (just my opinion, I’m sure there are plenty others that would think differently).
  4. When you see two of the sides in the bottom half of the eight make it through to the prelim finals it shows just how even the competition really is. Wasn’t much between all the sides in the eight (perhaps the Saints excepted). We lost both our finals due to poor kicking, rather than we were beaten. Had we beaten the Pies we would have been serious contenders. We lost. Had we then beaten Carlton it was still going to be a tough ask to go all the way. That is how close the competition is. My question is this. Taking into account that the list will be reviewed and refined as well as tweaks made to our game plan, unforeseen injuries aside, tell me why I shouldn’t consider us being not just a contender but a serious contender next year. I reckon we will be. I think people sometimes forget, premierships are extremely hard to come by.
  5. The going gets tough and the tough get going? I gather by the amount you pay for membership fees that you had reserved seats and finals and grand final guarantee? If that is the case that will free up that seat and I sincerely hope that whoever buys it actually goes to the home and away games during the season (not saying you didn’t go, I have no idea).
  6. Poor kicking, poor football, I get that. Bad luck with injuries, such is. Close competition, had we won last week, we were serious contenders. Even if we won tonight, it was going to be a tough ask. But the umpiring, those bloody umpires. Seriously, last night it was an absolute disgrace. I will never get that. At the start of the year I thought the concept of having 4 umpires was going to be good (pick out frees deep at both ends of the ground) I was so wrong. They were poor all year.
  7. Pretty much the consensus view from neutral football mates of mine was that we actually blew our chances last week. Had we won then, we were a serious chance. Had we won this week it was going to be tough to get there. Poor kicking in both games cost us the games. They all unanimously said that the umpiring last night did us no favours whatsoever. The only thing I’ll add in our outs also did us no favours. it’s a close competition. We failed this year. There is always next year. GO DEES!
  8. I see it slightly differently. Last night loss was so disappointing but the killer blow was the week before. What was common across both games was inaccurate kicking for goal and some key injuries. (The umpiring was atrocious in the Carlton game). Had we beaten Collingwood we were in the box seat. Had we beaten Carlton it would have been doable but very tough. That is how close the competition is. So close yet so far away. I reckon you always need a bit of luck (with injuries) to go all the way. Premierships are extremely hard to come by (one in eighteen chance). Very disappointed but still very much looking forward to seeing what we can achieve next year.
  9. Any side so long as it is not one the Victorian sides…. in my opinion
  10. I’m guessing out of the 96k that went to the game it seemed they had 60k and we had at best 36k. Sort of sad.
  11. The umpiring was disturbingly bad, that is a fact. (The four umpire system was a complete failure all year and sadly, I think it is here to stay) Bad kicking is bad football, we not only lost this game that way, did the same last week as well (and a couple more during the year. That also is a fact. So frustrating! Theoretically an easy fix. Kick straight ffs! You need an element of luck with injuries to go all the way. In 2021 we were lucky. 2022 we were the walking wounded. This year our forwards didn’t fare well at the end. (Nor did Gus). This really hurt us at the pointy end. I’m very disappointed but for some strange reason not totally gutted. I am looking forward to next year (but will totally enjoy being away from it in the coming months ahead). For the next fortnight ABC. (Anyone but Collingwood or Carlton)- if the GF is between these two, go the Blues (their supporters are almost pleasant when you compare them to the filth). What an absolute contrast between last week and tonight. The filth are really the filth. Will always remain a rusted on Melbourne supporter. GO DEES!!
  12. I’m sort of hoping that our forward game plan will involve very quick sharp kicking in (breaking the lines, lowering the eyes) , not slow congested long bombs. If and when it is bombed in (say from a centre clearance) again , speed is the essence. And…. keep it locked in…. and kick accurately, and….
  13. Seriously I’m getting tension bloody headaches thinking about tomorrow night’s game. Just beat them. Don’t care how, don’t care by how much, just win!
  14. If we don’t happen to get through to the GF and win it , it is as simple as ABC (Anyone But Collingwood)
  15. Obviously we have a tough run ahead to get to and win the GF. The motivation was to do it for the family, friends and fans back at the G. I reckon the motivation now should be ‘do it for Gus’. Realistically it’s going to be a tough ask. No matter what the result ends up being all that matters to me is that the team gave it their all, left nothing out there. Plan B. If we don’t make it, ABC (anyone but Collingwood)
  16. Hope the neutrals come on board the Demon machine. (Would help if we get off to a good start) Really want to neutralise Carlton gaining the ‘19th man advantage’
  17. Because you said ‘please’ i will respond 😉 As an introduction I find it interesting when someone takes a comment in isolation and then puts a spin on it to suit their own narrative. (Andrew Bolt is very good at doing this). So specifically in relation to your comment ‘you’re on here doing it because you imagined we might turn up to a game that hasn’t happened yet (and has now sold out) Spell please’…. here is my response. Firstly, to give my response context it is appropriate that I repeat below the original post that I was responding to:- Fearthebeard stated ‘We are going to be outnumbered at least 60,000 to 30,000 only saved by the 15k of us in the MCC’ It would appear to me that based on quite a few comments made by that person into crowd numbers in previous posts was that he knows what he is talking about. So my very first two sentences in my response to his post were - ‘Sadly, I think that you are most likely on the mark. Can I hope that you are wrong?’ Nothing too outrageous there, I hope. (Actually, I don’t give a rats). Back to you. Sure it’s a sell out (was always likely to be). I just am concerned that (based on quite a few other posts from other people) that our numbers may not be as good as last week. The reason for my concern is very simple. If we are grossly outnumbered (which appears to be a possibility) what concerns me greatly what the ‘Carlton 19th man’ impact may have on our playing group. If that concerns you that I am concerned about how many dee fans may turn up or you find that offensive, stiff. It’s just an opinion! Oh and just to finish off, I am more than comfortable to restate that I am jealous of the passion shown by some other teams supporters bases. And to be perfectly clear, no I never ever have contemplated changing sides. Sorry to disappoint you. (not really) Seriously, over and out…..GO DEES!
  18. It was a figure of speech. Could have a go at you for using the word ‘us’ as being a bit presumptuous also, but seriously….. But to try and answer your question without causing you further angst, anguish or offence…..In my opinion we are not the most raucous crowd out there in football land. I do get frustrated at times when I have attended games where we had the larger crowd but the opposition seemed to make more noise. That could be in part due to where I was sitting, could be due in part to how our team was performing, could be due to other reasons. So the ‘price I pay’ is that at times I get frustrated with our level of support. Perhaps it is just me. Yep I’m a passionate supporter. …And I could say I’m lost when you infer that I have stated that I am the most ‘dedicated supporter’. FFS! Social media sucks at times. I don’t even know why I had bothered to try and respond and explain . Over and out.
  19. Maaate sorry if I offended you. It was not my intent. How does ‘the price I pay’ sound? Ps Had no concern or issue with last Thursday’s crowd. In fact I was proud how they (or should I say) some of us gave it to Maynard for the rest of the game. My concern is with how many may or may not attend this Friday.
  20. Sadly, I believe you are most likely on the mark. (Can I hope that you are wrong?) Unfortunately, I was travelling in 2018 when I believe that our crowd and noise was phenomenal in the finals. Wish I was there. I was however lucky enough to see all our finals in 2021 (SA and WA). In WA the amount of support and NOISE was out of this world. Nothing quite like having 70% of the crowd with you (basically a combination of fanatical West Coast and Freo supporters). Mark my words, the crowd helped our team immensely. (The Geelong game in particular, was pure bliss. You just had to be there) From a crowd atmosphere perspective the first game the following year back home in Vic (against the Doggies) was flat, almost disappointing. I get it, it wasn’t a final, but it was still flat. This year it is quite evident that the coach and individual players have almost at times been begging for us to turn up. It makes a big difference. The 19th man syndrome is real. So we have 70,000 members. Big deal. The sad reality is that we are not as passionate and rusted as we would like to think we are. Yes, as much as I love to hate the Collingwood and Carlton fans (and Essendon and Richmond), I truly am envious of their passion and energy. They have something that we don’t. Yes, I’m jealous. I am already feeling for our players come this Friday. What they need from us they most likely won’t get. The price you pay for barracking for Melbourne 😢
