We're Freo's bunnies, so I don't have much hope for a win in this match. Funnily enough I'm glad we're not playing them at the G. They absolutely have the wood over us there.

While watching this I was thinking "bet he's gonna say something about being a goal kicking defender" or some rubbish, and yep I wasn't far off. Jenkins' opinions aren't worth the time of day, though at least he follows that old adage about a stopped clock.

You hate to see an Australian football player injured.
-
I assume he meant to say fruiton - a bed made out of fruit, which I assume he sleeps on at night because that's just the kind of thing I'd expect a guy like him to do.
-
Looks like a high shepard. However the ball was loose, so no excuse for him not to go for the ball. Plus he clearly got him high with severe impact.
-
Could be good for him. He has a pretty good leap, he's competitive, and has a tendancy to drift out of games so this will help keep him involved. Hope his foot doesn't blow up though obviously.

My post-loss routine:
-
Threw the game away in the first quarter unfortunately. Lots of umpiring decisions felt wrong to me, but you can't be 0-30 at quarter time. Petracca immense.
-
Jeez, what a bad half of footy. Absolutely no forward method whatsoever, and forward pressure nonexistent. On top of that we're losing clearance and contest, so the ball is just constantly in Carlton hands.
-
We don't look like scoring tonight. We're trying to run the ball down the ground through handball and aren't slick enough. The last disposal going inside 50 is deplorable and Carlton can then get us on the counter. Losing a lot of contested ball as well, which isn't what we would have wanted vs Carlton.

Can't pull something out of the box if you're in the box yourself.

I reckon we'll be fine on the 5 day break. I think the real hard game is the one after the 5 day break. Ever pulled an all-nighter? It can be done and you often get into a zone. Then you're wrecked the next day. I'm more worried about next week after these two big games.
-
So that's why you're so keen to avoid litigation as a result of things posted on this site!

Next year I reckon. I think he’s not physically ready. He’s still a kid.

Max Gawn on the Marty Sheargold radio show:

I find his partner the fat one even worse!

I reckon the zero tolerance on dissent was a Brad Scott initiative that fell really flat with fans and failed to be enforceable without paying a zillion free kicks each week. Probably was one of many things that cost him that gig and forced him back into coaching where he's better suited anyway (not that he's particularly good at that either).
-
It beggars belief that Lever didn't get 10 votes imo. I thought he was clearly the best and most influential player on the ground on the night. I guess one of the reasons he was so influential was that Scott didn't rate his game as worth trying to curtail.
-
I've thought Scott was a bit of a you-know-what for a while, but the Pettiness to rate his players as bog in this game rather than just suck up the fact that he lost is pretty damning.
-
I agree. I think it's relevant if one side loses/wins expected score by a lot, as it indicates one team was dominant but didn't put it on the board. The GWS game in the wet last year is a good example, as I felt we really did dominate that game but failed to score largely due to the conditions ruining our composure and disposal. But if it's close or even mildly one-sided then it really means little.
-
Watching it live I knew the significance immediately. I let out a wordless yelp of joy when he got his fingertips to that ball. I think it was a game-winning moment. Who knows what happens if Geelong get clear. Instead it's a turnover and leads to a brilliant goal from Fritsch, but none of that would have happened without the fingernail from Petty.

Thought I’d post this cracking behind the goals image of our defensive wall stopping the ball coming out of our forward 50. Good luck getting it out of there with 5 defenders in a wall as the first line and then May and Lever supporting line. Looks like the footy version of some ancient Roman battle formation.

I think he's a dreadful coach and have been saying as much for years. I know he won them a flag and got them into a grand final, so he has those results on the board, but nevertheless my gut says the dogs have gotten there in spite of beveridge not because of him.
