  1. Yes, Merry Christmas you lovely weirdos. Don’t know what I’d do without you. Also, don’t come up to me in public.
  2. Yes and particularly ‘spread’ from half back which is what the OP is desiring. Its decision making and movement ahead and commitment to share and run on that line. Now Hunt provided that last year when others didn’t. He was the crutch of a few. The HB line will need to lift.
  3. @old dee- it’s literally a point you have made yourself in the past.
  4. I don’t think there will be 3000 supporter for GWS this year - nevertheless, I find it embarrassing when we play in the caverness MCG in front of 20k against these teams… We will never be in that ‘most powerful’ club echelon and we have to reconcile that - we have our own place and we are shoring up our club while also winning, starting the women’s game, and driving into NT, raising money for BCNA and Reach, and FightMND. We do ok.
  5. Why would we stop it? Even if it doesn’t turn into memberships, this is always a symbolically powerful game to embrace Alice Springs - a place that loves footy and gets little love back. Also, we don’t turn up to GWS/Freo/Port/GC games at the G so we’re not missing much. I guess am more than indifferent about it…
  6. I don’t disagree but I know that comedy is layered. When Ricky Gervais steps over the line he does it to point out hypocrisy and tries to avoid ‘punching down’ but it won’t be free of consequence whether it is funny, rude, offensive etc and that is progress. ‘Cancel Culture’ is just the end of silence of the people like in your story and them (and others) saying “I don’t appreciate you making fun of me/my heritage/my sexuality/etc”
  7. The behaviour you walk past is the behaviour you accept. And for those that are trying to argue that ‘comedy is where we need to be able to say anything’ - ok then. But radio prime time isn’t ‘stand up’ or a ‘sitcom’ and if the ‘joke’ misses the consequences now reign as they should. The Australian cultural twinge of “why are you making a thing of it?” In reaction to reaction is an archaic albatross around the neck of our immigrant-built and indigenous-guarded country.
  8. No worries.
  9. THE DEATH RIDE STANDS! I am going to enjoy this!
  10. Same question. As a follow up from that link; what’s “Bursty” he referred to?
  11. ‘If player X, taken in the 30s, turned out like a generational talent - I would be happy’
  12. TBH, when I saw that ‘Thickett’ post - I thought that it was unfair and mean and brought unnecessary attention onto his physique especially considering skin folds are an important metric for the start of pre -season.
  13. Off those two highlight packages 🙄
  14. Yes, good attack on the footy in the air. Bigger [censored] than MJ - I reckon he is more ready than Jefferson to help out in AFL.
  15. I think this is a fine investment in the Dees circa 2027 and beyond. We have our new forward structure to work through with Gawn down there now. I hope we can turn the picks next year into immediate help though.
  16. What a brutal game. The conditions made it the 4 goal contest that just gives ‘the haters’ their Nonsense Ammunition but whatever the game is getting better so quickly and we are leading that charge. Footy comes first at this club and it shows. Well done to Daisy and Paxman and the others who fought to be where we are right now - champions of the game and of our club. Those Demons that chafe at that last statement will be soothed in time.
  17. I wouldn’t do this deal if I was Dodoro. 3 picks in the teens for ND4… but let’s hope incompetence and a desire to death rise us and Freo wins out. Kind of looking forward to The Great Fremantle Death Ride 2023 tho…
  18. Do you want kids to be compared to retired players only? These kids don’t make it, not because they have undue pressure, but because they are not good enough, or not ready to be a professional or due to injury. Personally, I would have a minimum age of 20 to bring kids onto a list but that will impact the quality of our league to do that. Recruiters require comparison as a tool to select - even our lord and saviour Jason Taylor recently mentioned that in a pod with Cal Twomey. Therefore, those around the game covering it and developing it need to support that if we are to provide opportunities to those kids that will excel.
  19. What do you want him to compare players to? Some of those players will reach, or surpass, those comparisons. It’s fine, as long as the comparison is enlightening an aspect of their skill set and not just “They will be as good as star player X”
  20. Well done to the women! The overriding feeling of the senior players will be one of relief and that the season starts here. I am sure they want to test themselves to start the GF better than they did last season. Doing it for Daisy is emotionally fraught. Just go into each contest like Daisy has her career and that is enough for her - win or lose. If they do that, they will win.
  21. Red is in the eye of the beholder once again… Just let me know if we are going to spend any time debating it and I will go out to the garage and get my mallet out and destroy my phone and laptop in preparation.
  22. Oooookkkkaaaayyyy, so the women are playing in Carlton on a Saturday arvo. Surely we can sell out that place against another team from the city. Would be disappointing if this great team had less supporters than NM. Get there and be a part of something!
