My position is two-fold: 1. I believe he hasn't signed already, as I think he is an honest kid who just wants to think about his footy. 2. I believe the MFC has progressed to the stage that would make me wonder why anyone would want to leave. Happy to argue the toss on the second one. But I have racked up my post count on the first one - and I will continue to defend Tom from those accusations... It's a sideways response to your question - I am basically trying to say that I am invested in Tom's character and the ability of the Stynes-Schwab-Bailey led club to keep its players, rather than just Tom staying at the club.
  2. You know what happens if you assume? Actually, nothing happens to me in this instance... It's more of an assu.
  3. I, another journalist, will quote you, also a journalist, over your 98% claim. Completely looking past the fact that if one journalist quotes another, that makes them an idiot. A giant effing idiot.
  4. He's damaging the club and is becoming a major distraction for the club because journos are constantly talking amongst themselves and quoting each other over the non-progress of the contract discussions. Give him a contract, if he signs it, he plays. If he doesn't, well, we know how to handle
  5. What? The guy openly admits he has trouble seeing himself as a leader. He also admits to not being the most professional person when it comes to recovery (and he has constantly been in recovery in his 8 years...) And Jamar never seems to be in the argument for the leaders of the club. Great ruck, good ruck brain, good at teaching rucks, ruck, ruck, ruck. He would be a great leader at the Dees if we went in with 9 or ten rucks...
  6. He's in our top echelon right now, which probably explains why we are struggling.
  7. I think the club will be keen to hang on to Colin... I don't think they are going to force him out.

The rest of us should put this rider on our posts... All will be revealed in time. From the decision in Sept/Oct, to the many interviews, to the tell-all books, and finally the recanting on the death bed. All will be revealed.
  9. I am a cracker, it's true.
  10. That's racist.
  11. Watts? Jamar? An effload of other players? And Morton's first two years were quite good. In fact, he was one of the reasons to go to the footy in 08 and 09. He's stalled but don't hold him to an unfair example.
  12. Mods are people too, you know. Even Rhino. And you can't use old posts against people? Yeah, it's unfair when I get held to my own words...
  13. Once again I am lost reading one of your posts. Get rid of the not properly used elipses and talk in English. Or at least Spanglish... Something.
  14. Bate and Dunn is not what the GWS have in mind for those 17 year old gems they have access to... If I wrap to bad presents together, it doesn't make it a 'super present' it makes it a bad present, just two lots of bad present.
  15. We did this already. Not funny anymore, sorry.
  16. It's plenty complicated... We need to get rid of three off our main list. If Nicholson is upgraded - it's four. Who to move on? And, yes, we can wait until Scully's decision is made. Three or four out of Maric, Warnock, Bate, Dunn, Wonaeamirri, and Morton (for those so inclined) have to go. Trade or delist, or mutually agree to nullify a contract, whatever. Three or four have to go. Who will they be?
  17. The guy was maligned DC. Those comparing the two aren't (or shouldn't be) saying that Cale will be as good, but that the circumstances of a high drat pick with a slight body struggling to play AFL footy the way fans want. And Morton's first two seasons were quite good. He has struggled since, I wouldn't be getting rid of him because the chances he becomes a player outweighs whatever pathetic deal we could get for him. Hardly a ringing endorsement, the work is ahead for Cale.
  18. When my St Kilda supporting buddies were having a go at Goddard they didn't he just wasn't 'tuned in'... They called him soft, and precious, and rubbish. Just as with Cale.
  19. That article also mentions Watts being signed up, in the middle of September. His management probably putting off negotiations until after the season. I remember the hatred and accuasations of Jack when he deferred the talks... Oh, wait... And to those that just rolled their eyes, and just muttered to themselves "it's different, rp": Oh, yeah, the difference is there are rumours, that's it.
  20. Well, that was simple, Bate and Dunn are here until the end of 2012.
  21. The only thing I got from this is that no-one knows when Bate is out of contract. I will do some googling at lunch.
  22. Sling tackles are fine, assuming there is no 'Mumford driving' into the turf. The pin arms driving forward into the turf (that ruined Bruce's career as a very good player) is the one I don't like. The AFL is welcome to get that out of the game.
  23. Get your hands off of it. It's not the end of the game as we know it - they are trying to get rid of tackles that are designed to injure - Mumford on Ablett, Guerra on Bruce, etc. They are doing it like drunken apes at the moment and they need to find some clarity but it is not armageddon...
  24. Mahoney is the Forward coach. Moloney is the one with an 'exceptional' year. Green, Rivers, and Davey display awful body language and are consumate frontrunners. Moloney has been fantastic when we are up and about but there is still a distance between his worst and his best. Jones has been very consistent this year. And Grimes has been injured. So, as leaders, I give these 'marks' for our leadership group in 2011: Green - D (When the chips are down: he slinks away, doesn't talk, and shows awful body language. Is instructed where to go rather instructed) Moloney - B+ (Sets a good example when we are winning, and does the captains job of revving up the boys before a game) Davey - D (May work well with the younger ones but his body language is similar to Green's and there is no urging on of his teammates. Also instructed where to go) Jones - B (The Twitterer shows decent body language and always plays with heart. Consistent in good times and bad) Rivers - C (Is a good backman and is fearless and selfless but again, his body language isn't great when we are losing) Grimes - N/A (only played a handful of games, not enough to judge his onfield leadership in 2011) So a D, B+, D, B, C, and N/A is a pathetic return for a group of leaders who have been upstaged by Watts, Martin, Trengove, and Frawley, and their consistent efforts, communication, and body language onfield.
