Here in Canberra we get a bit of the orange and black brigade talking themselves up. I don't think there is any reason why Sheedy and co. would not leave the rumours open. It creates news, a perception they are getting good players (influencing other prospective recruits), and possibly helps pry Tom away through the intense scrutiny. I wouldn't worry about the fork tongues of GWS.
