  1. The Swans? Swan Lake? The Magic Ballet? Please tell me someone went there with me and got that?
  2. Yes, well we usually don't have threads with 'Conspiracy Theory' in the title. I love conspiracies, personally. I am convinced that the CIA offed Kennedy, but if I became the Congressman from the 1st district of the 51st state I wouldn't blog about it...
  3. For those worried about only 25 players completing the time trial - I am sure that there would have been, or will be, ad-hoc time trials for those who didn't take part. 45 players are not ready to run 3km as fast as they can at the same time in January. Shock horror...
  4. I was not refering to your post. And there is more than 'observation' in this thread.. There is 'speculation', 'extrapolation', and more than enough 'creation'...
  5. If you don't want to burden the kids why not give it to Moloney or Jones? Green has shown he couldn't handle the burden, why not try a different Demon?
  6. It's funny. Not last year were we discussing the virtues of Prendergast in comparison to Craig Cameron. And now we are revisioning our own revisioned history? To what end? Looking for any reason to believe this wasn't a loss for the club... I am not saying that Prendergast leaving is a loss, I am saying no-one on here knows.
  7. Green is a 'shoe-in' and Trengove a 'monty'... Do we have an odds-on favourite or dead-set frontrunner? Well, we have plenty of frontrunners actually...
  8. I made the point that Taggert and Tynan were the only players chosen by Prendergast at the last draft. The other 6 players plus Clark were recruited by the FD and Neeld. I am not saying it is right or wrong, but I am saying that it would leave a taste in the mouth that would warrant a career rethink. My personal opinion on how we drafted this year is that it should be done like that in the future: stop picking speculative kids at around 50 in the ND and go for proven older players at state leagues or recycled players from then on. But this is a different argument to the news today... I still don't believe he left because Neeld 'forced him out' but I do think that the leash he was on in November and December contributed to his departure.
  9. I don't see how a poll would reveal anyone to be a 'monty' for the position. We are not the ones who select the captain, therefore a poll of Demonland would reveal nothing about Trengove being a 'monty.'
  10. I don't think that Trengove being captain is a monty.
  11. You are making a number of assumptions here. I would call up the great evil (Telstra) and ask whether it is unmetered.
  12. What is your data plan? And how quick is your dowload speed? And do you have wifi? If you answered - 300/500GB a month, 1MB a second, and yes then go ahead and get foxtel on your xbox.
  13. Wouldn't have a clue if it is based primarily on what Neeld and co. see every day in PS and team meetings. My inkling is Moloney. I would like Grimes to be able to stay on the pitch but he is a born leader so if they think his body is right he would be a huge chance. Trengove has to show the FD that he can force himself upon the group and get most to follow - could he have done that at 20? I don't know. Jones should be a chance given his record but I just don't see it. I can't see him demanding his teammates to do what is required (but we don't have many that fit that criteria). Jamar should be looking at the LG before thinking about captaincy. Green should concentrate on being a valuable member of the 22. Davey should do the same. Rivers has awful body language and is surprised when asked about his captaincy credentials. Watts will grow into a very confident leader but he has to continue his development and from Neelds comments a few months ago - the microscope will be on him in house. He will have enough to worry about. I think that is all of them.
  14. Agree with everything. Although regarding that last line - I wouldn't be 'happy.' I would understand the maintenance of the status quo but I would sigh audibly and curse very audibly if we had the same leadership situation at this club.
  15. I have said it before - we have no perfect candidate (or near it). We are like the Republicans over in the US - arguing over the merits of every faulty candidate. The new Captain will have his flaws because there is no flawless candidate. So the FD should choose a flawed leader that will help the club. Either inspire that player, inspire his teammates, or help develop that player.
  16. I believe that is the case. However the new CBA apparently has no Veterans List per se, so I don't know what effects that will bring.
  17. Depends if you have the bandwidth and data to spare...
  18. Read above. It was a different Clark, people.
  19. I have said my piece on Foxtel before, basically I agree with DC. I will add that I hope those with Foxtel also have health insurance, otherwise I can suggest a better way of spending that money...
  20. Based on a glaring fact. I don't know what 'Jamar can be captain' is based on... Enlighten me.
  21. We put too many riders on our captaincy and LG. Pick the best leaders and don't be afraid to go young. I hope that is all that is taken into account. If it means the status quo then it means the status quo. It also means we are in trouble...
  22. Jamar has never been in the leadership group. That tells you something, or at least it should...
  23. Some good ideas thrown out there, McQueen. One thing I will say is that whatever the measurement I am not certain we have anything other than a number of simply adequate choices for captain in 2012. But, yes, whoever it is must realise the power of his body language on-field, his professionalism off the field and his example whilst in the thick of it. Good luck to whichever individual(s) we settle on.
  24. Personally I just love it when people give an opinion with no supporting evidence whatsoever. I love it because it narrows down the list of people to bother reading on this site.
  25. I think we all get it: you think the coaching staff took over Prendergast in an unlawful coup... To be perfectly honest - recruiting in the AFL is the most speculative in all of 'draft oriented sports' in this world, so I don't see the problem of the coaching staff getting to choose the RL players as a rule going forward. It makes the train-on players motivated as there is a definite position on the cards if they put the effort in.
