  1. We have got one till 2016 so Spencer and Gawn have time, and if they are not up to it - we have time. Just stop drafting ruckmans uner the age of 21 - it is a waste of everyone's time.
  2. I think that shows how crap they think we are: 'they have to win this game to be relevant, but they are so irrelevant that they will lose.' I hope they are wrong.
  3. Look, Don is trying a rhetorical device that gets people to make the conclusions we are making and either get offended or sign up to make them feel he wasn't talking about them - or both. I don't think it is the right 'time' to try this 'in or out' meme. We have not delivered a decent product for ages and while I agree that Demons should sign up before they think about how we will go, I realise that it does happen and if we wish to get new Demons we are going to have to deliver a better product. Get better is the answer. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't have signed up when we were crap if you could have. Winning is the reward for my support, not the other way around.
  4. Let's just let him play. And we can have this pointless argument AFTER some football has been played.
  5. He's a very good player RR, but Jacobs deserved AA that year.
  6. What if you're not good enough to win?
  7. University. Bunch of non-existent flogs. They haven't had a win in forever.
  8. Now, come on. I love Led Zep, as I love the Dees, but when there is crap, there is crap. Dwelling on all the awesome doesn't eliminate the crap.
  9. I think its more a case of we don't have to choose between which kid we throw to the wolves. We can still throw them but we have the option of playing Sellar, Terlich, Magner, Couch, Matt Jones, et al over playing all the toddlers because all we had were toddlers.
  10. He is older, and has played better at state league level than Strauss. Also, many don't rate Strauss. I haven't seen enough of him but he is contracted through 2014 so he has time.
  11. I was motioning more towards trying to hit targets they cannot, or should not hit. And I agree about Jones. But he is a bloke that had trouble with decision making but was misdiagnosed as having a below average kick. I have no doubt that we have some bad kicks on our team, but I am equally sure that our decision making (and what we have to kick to) exacerbates the kicking issue.
  12. I have come across some pretty terrible kicks and kicking styles over the last few years and you can improve yourself if you are ready to do the work. I will also say that 'poor kicking techniques' are occasionally misdiagnosed. Sometimes blokes are not going for the right option, or are trying to do more than their ability will allow.
  13. You can get better at kicking if you think you need to get better at kicking. I have seen it with my own two eyes up here in Canberra. The ones prepared to do the work and humble enough to listen have become excellent kicks. Decision making under pressure is where we fall down. That is harder to fix and involves training and confidence, but ultimately requires you to play the game to get better.
  14. Some pretty important players are underdone or have a niggle. I wouldn't be surprised if most of those 5 don't play. I am expecting Dawes and Clark to run around like headless chickens for a few weeks while they settle into each others patterns. And Trengove and Blease will take a while to get going... Would have one of them sub.
  15. Hey, now. I was at his first ever game at Etihad when, with his first kick he laced out a forward straight out of the middle. With that kick he tore his quad terribly and was out for months but the point is - it was a good kick.
  16. Yes, and Hogan is from WA, Kent from WA, Barry from NT, Terlich from NSW (via SA), Clisby from SA, and Stark from Mt Gambier (via Adelaide).
  17. You're telling me... 2013 is going to be all over the place. It's going to be a Led Zep song. Long, crazy, but hopefully good once you get past the crap.
  18. I would have one of Blease or Trengove aas the sub and not play the other if they are both underdone. Clark and Dawes you can play underdone but we need our 10 midfield rotations to be as fit and firing as possible. And they would be: Jones, Grimes, Magner, McKenzie, Viney, Matt Jones, Sylvia, Rodan, Toumpas, and Nicholson IMO.
  19. How are you not following me - I said 'ideal for us' to have AFL games to accompany our strategy in the Casey region. It's not an impossible scenario but it is unlikely. And I don't expect you to come, Billy. Nor do I expect any opposition fans to come (wouldn't that be grand). I would be able to get 10k Dess supporters to travel there and another 10k local Casey people there with one placard and an ad in the leader...
  20. It was a very combative passage. I don't like drawing lines like that publicly. If he is that combative with the media and the AFL then great - but just cool that rhetoric with lapsed members until we are decent again. Doesn't mean I think he is wholly wrong, but it isn't a great PR move IMO.
  21. It would be ideal for us. We have no fans around the Junction. We are trying to win over a growth corridor in the South East. Get a couple games there, sell some 2 + 3 Memberships (Casey and G) for $120 and we will turn a great number into members in that area. I would be very confident of 20k+ for any game in Casey.
  22. Well, LeCras broke his arm. Just great...
  23. You don't know his ceiling. You can say you do, but you really don't. I thought I knew Jones' ceiling and he punched right through it.
  24. They have done well because they have a strategy in place for multiple games in one area of the country. Ideally, we should play 3 or 4 games in Casey at a 25k seater stadium with public transport popping up out of nowehere overnight. But we have got to work with what we have and we have been creative and worked hard to get a deal worth $500k for one game with a further $300k in sponsorship. That is $800k out of thin air. Another game up there and we can market memberships, and open up another market for sponsorhip. Other Melbourne clubs have a suburb to work with, we have a stadium. We need Casey and we need the NT. Ironically, it is deals like this that will keep this the MELBOURNE Football Club.
  25. Just let them play. I can't tell you how many players have been rated 'duds' or 'stars' before a ball is bounced. Yes, I did that for Viney... The point is... Oh, screw it, here's a funny picture:
