  1. I was pointing out our issues with defensive intensity in the forward half and possible fade out issue when we won 10 straight games, a few of us were; so winning does not mean we don’t have issues. We look a lot better than last year and this season is so even so I am not panicking but that common refrain that whatever it is, they’ll sort it out’ is not an argument against critique - it’s an argument against bothering to log on here and talk about the Dees. Of course we want them to work it out - we even give our own thoughts on the challenges we need to overcome. And lastly, you say it’s easy to be negative, when it was apparently much easier last year to be the ‘Fox with the fire all around’ and say ‘it’s fine’, there was so much surprise on here when we went out in straight sets…
  2. Then we are not competing for the flag. If we cannot rest one of our galaxy of stars - then we cannot lose them to injury - and that is an excuse. They don’t get that from me. I expect to win this Saturday.
  3. Why didn’t we ‘manage’ our best players during that period? More rhetorical questions…
  4. Injuries happen. He is so durable and he will weeks in the middle of a season. The best time if we are to be a contender. Also, can we just go and hunt the footy?
  5. I will take the errors for the enterprise he brings. We simply can’t fall back into leaving spark and movement to Hibberd and Rivers. When we get boring and tight - that’s when we lose. I hope he never loses that dare and confidence.
  6. That’s my query. This group last year was obviously impacted by injury and fitness; we would play a half and then wilt - this team seems to ‘be inspired’ at random moments before retreating back in its shell. Goodwin has to get that inspiration for longer or we are a threat to waste this generation of talent.
  7. My biggest takeaway from last night was the disturbing echo from last year that this team thinks it only has to play 15 mins of connected, inspired footy to win games. If that isn’t the case, can they prove it against good teams? If we are not that - can we show our ‘real selves’ for 15 mins every quarter? We are looking at straight sets again if this continues.
  8. Sounds like you have one too many friends
  9. Love Salem but that selection integrity in AFL is like paying taxes - doesn’t apply to the elite. I hope it works out for him.
  10. Eminently if we keep winning the next month leading up the Pies as the 3rd game at the G in a row. Inclusive of that is a day game that families can get to and buy memberships in person - yea that is still a thing for some reason. I will be there to cheer on our flag winners on both teams…
  11. No winners here. Awful stuff all around. I hope he gets some help. I hope for the well being of all involved.
  12. NFL doesn’t have the lottery because their games are almost events in and of themselves - you get 9 max home games and you want to win even when you’re awful. Tanking isn’t an issue, it is an issue in the NBA and in the AFL. The lottery isn’t a panacea, but at least it will make people think twice before ‘putting your team into a position to lose’ as the season draws to a close as there is no guarantee that they’ll get that pick. One of the things in the NBA that has positively impacted tanking is the ‘play in’ tournament as it provides an opportunity for more teams to be ‘within reach’ of the finals and keep their season alive for longer. There is no panacea and bad teams should be rewarded for being terrible - welcome to a socialistic set up where those in need get help - what we want to do is not incentivise it and I think both the lottery and the play in can do that.
  13. If we avoided the content of everyone who said we were irrelevant and stood for nothing - we would be ignoring all in the media and half of Demonland… You’d be ignoring me… me?! AND YOU WOULDNT WANT THAT
  14. The new stadium as a pre-requisite is an arrogant stand from the AFL but I don’t think it is wrong to want a standard in each state for a team to have in a stadium. Now the ‘nay sayers’ are leaning into the lack of spend of housing and health and as someone who works out of Canberra - I have heard this refrain before - we can walk and chew gum at the same time. The arts and sport can have money spent on it, the endangered species of native frogs can have money spent on it, and we will have enough money to spend on health and housing - no matter your politics. They are putting a third of the money… I have run out of patience on this - kill the stadium and you can forget about the team. Like it or lump it - that is the game.
  15. Great work Andy. Lovely touch.
  16. Not to be a pedant but it isn’t MelbourneLand…
  17. That was lovely. And the intent was to draw empathy and understanding in an attempt to educate. You can’t help but love Matty Whelan even more in his current role, and our future captain CP5 as a genuine and conscientious person but thanks so much to Kozzie for giving us an insight and sharing his life beyond the white lines. We are a really strong club led by the best people. Well done.
  18. Goody to Yze when he does the team sheet:
  19. Yeah, it’s good this season with Rodney Eade.
