Stats-file 2018
Oh @skuit, you are a man/woman after my own heart... love these KPIs you have mentioned. What is the UPs situation - we are 10th but with 217 a game and that is definitely in the region of diminishing returns, especially considering we get it forward so often. Really hope we take this aggressiveness to the Hawks and not go back into our shells, they would prefer us in our shells; they want to prepare behind the footy and switch and snap the rubber band. Clarkson is an excellent coach but he has more and more also rans in that team and we need to expose their best players to our best players and I don't think they will cope.

Be Patient with Lever
It just takes sacrifice @Lucifer's Hero - Hibberd and Lever have to develop an understanding that at a particular contest, one is beating a bloke and the other is killing the contest. They both are looking for contests to kill and it is putting stress on the others. Good players figure it out and they are the best talents we have had in the backline in a generation really. And I don’t want to paint the NM as some sort of failure either - it may be the beginning of it working: Lever-Hibberd (or Levberd as the kids call them) had 19 intercept possies between them, up from 10 last week, and that is with the team getting 10 less against NM (69) than against BL (79).

Be Patient with Lever
Going from playing on the third defender to the second is a shift and he is struggling. I do hope we help him and that back 6 allow him to stay closer to the spots he needs to be to cut off footy and help Oscar. And Hibberd and he need to work on how they pay together.

Caro digs up old wounds of Camp Fiasco on eve of season.
If I went to a work retreat where a colleague dislocated a kneecap and another concussed himself with a 'backpack brick' then I would expect the leaders of that organisation to know that that would have repercussions. From that article, the only positives I got was Nathan Jones once again is a leader amongst passives and that this thing didn't happen... We move on, but apparently some at the club haven't. Own it, and move on FFS.

No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018
My first reaction was to throw up in my mouth. My second reaction was ‘huh, AFL must be moving away from white’. And we are back to it meaning little... What will it be in 2020? Silver again?

I have actually passionately defended the inclusion of white guernseys in the past. @daisycutter could testify to that, I am certain. We would have, every year, a tedious argument about the clash jumpers and whether we should have one and which colour they should be. We invented the game as a way for cricketers to keep fit, and therefore played in whites and were known as the 'Invincible Whites' before the VFL was a thing... My recent 'apathy' is born out of the fact that we have chosen (or been forced to use) white, and I have no reason to argue against something I am perfectly fine with as a Demon. Reverse the yolk and that is not my club, go back to that awful light blue we had in the early eighties for the TV and that is not my club, but the non-colour white has some attachment to my club. But I am happy to not engage and enrage my fellow supporters who disagree. And do it. Every. Single. Year. Hence Morgan Freeman:- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO

I used to give a sh!t about the ins and outs of every trade we were involved in but then you realise it doesn't matter. Don't sweat the small stuff. If that pick we have given up next year for Lever leads to being a good pick then that is 'big stuff' but it would mean something has gone horribly wrong...- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC

It is interesting to see this kids experience juxtaposed against Schache; both had homesickness and underlying mental health issues and one is not set upon by all and sundry like the other one. Amazing what being picked high in the draft does to the narrative around a player.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever

We might want to keep ND45 and package up a couple of hose other picks to get back into the first round... Mahoney keeps doing things like that - I think it is admirable we look to get as much quality chances as possible. Sound strategy if you have identified a talent you want to be in position to select.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Love Lever, but we won't suddenly go down 18-24 points in points conceded. Hate to be a killjoy but that only happens when terrible teams become subpar teams. We need a quicker flick of the switch from defence to attack and the best way to do that is by having the footy and that would be an interception rather than a stoppage (fist out of bounds). Quick release to get that ball to a player on the other side of the ground and we are away through the corridor or that flank with hopefully Hunt and Hibberd being able to higher up the ground when they receive the footy. So while McDonald would have stopped those 3-4 goals he didn't set us up going the other way as superbly as someone like Lever should. So I see him as being an offensive weapon. PS. Forward here, I have been told I see everything through the lens of moving the ball forward. While I don't see that as being entirely true, you have to score don't you?- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
The first 8 seconds I watched ten times - two NM players run into each other, one of them knocks himself out as Lever does a blind turn and leaves them to their brutish dancing. It is very funny that the MFC put that highlight first up. - No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018
