  1. I don't look in this thread for truth - I know people are having a lend of me or the person who is posting. I click on this thread looking for half baked rumours with a smidgen of truth and possibility. Give. Me. Your. Rumours.
  2. Mr Tyson can be as aggrieved as he is above when Gawn taps to red and blue jumpers at a greater clip than he does now...
  3. I do worry about the longevity of Gawn both with his knees and with his type of ruckman being made redundant by rules to protect more flexible players that will run off him and make him look slow and one dimensional... It would be cold blooded if we move him on though...
  4. Covers ground, gets outside (averages most uncontested possies in the league), and kicks it 18 times a game. Neat left foot too. He would complement our hard nosed midfield. He really is the exact type of player we require short of a star of the game of course (which every couple 'needs').
  5. I mentioned Gardiner in the post. Plays for the Lions and is a solid tall in the backline. I maintain that I would prefer the last 4 years of Tyson, plus Salem's elite skills and upside, plus Hunt's run and explosive pace to The Excelllent Josh Kelly and The serviceable Darcy Gardiner. But continue the handwringing if it makes you feel better talking to your mates who support other clubs and only look at the surface of trades and player movements.
  6. If we flip Salem for something better - it improves that trade... And if you said to me that I either get Tyson, Salem, and Hunt or Kelly and Gardiner - I would have taken the former. Now that may change as the careers of these 5 players move and change but Tyson was required in Roos' first year and we didn't make that deal in a vacuum; we had a terrible list and if we needed talent.
  7. Take the emotion out of it when you think about it. Doesn't matter what you thought he would be, and it is all about what that team needs. Watts is a high HF/wing with elite skills and application issues who played half a dozen great games and half a dozen poor games. If there is a deal that makes us better of course he would be moved, but he has the skill set we don't have enough of and we would be looking for in this trade window. Personally, my view is that he doesn't go until we have his positional replacement. We need more players with elite skills not less.
  8. $800k for a star CHB (who could probably swing just as well as TMac) is very good. The CBA has exploded and if that is where we can keep our best players at - we would be happy. Those worried about Petracca suddenly asking for that much - he was going to get that much anyway. If we were paying these guys Dusty Money - we might have an issue, but we aren't.
  9. Haha. @Akum @DaveyDee - I haven't watched his progress since and I am always wary of the big fish in the small pond that is junior footy up in Canberra...
  10. Can we have the above level of critique for the other 21 players?
  11. Any info on why it went so poorly? Powerpoint pres have too much white space? Joffa was loitering out the front was a cigarette and a bevvy?
  12. Sum of all parts but if one of those parts wasn't faulty - we play finals. The start against the Pies - the end against the Lions, the naivete of the coaching staff against NM in Tassie, and GWS in Canberra, the list can extend past this, but there is no leap. There is 'behave like a normal team of competitive, talented football players that are well coached' and we play finals.
  13. Lost me here. Tyson is the reason we missed out on finals by 2 goals of percentage?
  14. *played against men in the NEAFL and they shifted him back
  15. Said it before - no player that gets as much footy as him is a bad footy player. His decision making is the issue and so is our ability to continue in 2018 with a midfield rotation heavy on tough ball winners. Viney, Oliver, Lewis, Jones, Tyson, and Petracca even are ball winners first with varying degrees of outside ability. Unless the other players in the rotation are better on the outside than they have been - something has to give.
  16. Big lump, played forward in the U/19 Rising Stars comp and killed it, playing against me in the NEAFL they shifted him back.
  17. So a couple of days after we are reportedly out of the Lever race we sign up our OOC tall defender? Might be something to that then...
  18. Why do you need to add this? jnrmac is a poster who has a record of engaging in decent back and forth without this backhander seemingly dismissing his comment as uneducated and simple enough to be ripped from the 24 hour talk back radio staion for nuffie footy fans. Like a couple other posters that come and go and come back again - why bother engaging with us unlearned fools? Get a blog and disable the comments and you'd get what you want.
  19. "I stay down with my Demons, I stay down with my Demons." Loved the National before this song but felt like they were trolling me with this [censored].
  20. Injuries aside I EXPECT to get have a better approach to games we play against an inferior opponent, a better headspace at the start of games, continued development of our best talent, and a less arrogant/ignorant performance from our coaching staff and Goodwin. If all of that happens and we win 13 games - fine with me but FMD the league is even...
  21. I was going to do another post on this specifically. Who didn't stand up in the first quarter? And who didn't show up against Freo, Haw and NM? That is the root of this violent drama - the arrogance of young men who can't be convinced to apply themselves consistently in their privilege.
  22. Post Mortem: How about we do a bit a 'compliment sandwich'... Amazing wins against Crows, Bombers, WBs, and WCE all away from home. Unforgivable losses against Freo, Haw, and NM (x2) Goodwins exciting gameplan Goodwins baffling blunders in windy conditions (NM and GWS) Aggression all year at the ball and man Suspensions to key players that cost us wins (and percentage? Ooooh, too soon?) The greatness of Oliver, Jetta, and Hibberd The development of ANB and Oscar McD The patchiness of Tyson, Harmes, Pedersen, Hannan, Petracca, Melksham, Lewis, Bugg, Garlett, Tom McD, and Hunt The stalling of Salem, Watts, Gawn, Brayshaw, Stretch, Kent, Frost, Weideman and JKH The decline of Vince The injuries to Garland, VDB, Jones, Hogan, Viney The existence on the list of Wagner, White, Kennedy, Spencer, King, Hulett These are the things that come to mind to explain why we have failed once again; failed when we shouldn't have.
  23. Improvement doesn't exclude failure. Off to the post-mortem thread where hindsight can still be illuminating.
