  1. I doubt this will be the case as the AFL choose who to cite and who not to via the MRO (eg. Chol vs van Rooyen).
  2. The AFL Commission was founded in 1985. As much as the AFL would have you believe otherwise.
  3. Maybe its time to give notice to the AFL that we'll be handing back our licence and starting a new league based on pre-AFL (butchered) rules.
  4. ... was to guess where the ball was going to land ... Wow!! Are they trying to outlaw spoils along with the bump?? guess? Get out the protractor and ruler boys!!
  5. Match reviews should be put through an AI app. Not sure how it would learn from the range of past (woeful) decisions but I am sure the AFL would think that's a minor consideration.
  6. Quite apart from the standard of umpiring tonight I find the coaching of players by the umpires (eg. after the siren and a player kicking for goal) to be so inappropriate! The players know, or should know the rules. If they deviate off their line, its game (or quarter) over! Simple. The risk of no score is totally on the player.
  7. We used to be able to reset at any qtr break and as spectators notice the immediate change in focus, direction or attitude. Does it seem like we can't or dont do this now?
  8. Hope a coach saw the handbrake was left on for the first half and released it for the second half. Reset and lets go Dees!!!
  9. Nothing we don't realise ... https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/apr/20/the-rise-of-loud-and-opinionated-afl-media-is-reflective-of-a-wider-malaise
  10. Which opposition player is he really looking forward to play against?
  11. One, maybe 2 out in defence we can handle. Not having Gawn to fall back and take some of the pressure off was telling.
  12. Scott showed Goodwin how to use 2 rucks to advantage. That threw us and the rest was soon history.
  13. Mids failed to apply the usual pressure with Viney the one and only exception.
  14. I felt he was disengaged somewhat at Roo's debut announcement and was disappointed not to see him at R3 supporting the team (was interstate?). I hope we are offering flexibility in his contract and would be happy for another 2 years, and then wish him well should he decide to leave, rather than only offer a long term contract. His mood is likely reflective of a person trying to please everyone but knowing someone will end up disappointed. My thoughts are he will go, but ... 🙏
  15. Agree, to me he is sliding (slowly?) down the list of best 23 and has been for a while. While his performances are ok, his impact is becoming less. A niggle? Something isn't quite right.
  16. Quite a few misguided weagle supporters heading thru on the train. Not as many as normal tho.
  17. Regarding TMac's in this week ... I think a number of us might have missed the fact that there is currently a lot of young fowards and the selectors may have wanted another mature head down there to temper any excitement (à la ANB in GF 2021 🙂).
  18. https://westdees.blogspot.com/2023/03/rnd4-function-get-your-tickets.html Might be booked out though.
  19. Same situation for me too, leuc. I noticed a little while ago there were dry seats behind the cheer squad, so I might book my freebie there, and when the Dees are kicking that way, make myself comfortable. At least it won't be going to WCE. ... a little later ... I now have 2 seats, one at each end of Optus. I think they call it a win-win!
  20. 'twas a night to remember, certainly. My only ever GF, in my (now) home state, just a pity it wasn't against WCE.
  21. Did you try a "dry" area. They were available a while ago behind the cheer squad, but not my cuppa tea (excuse the pun).
  22. If a whole team elected to opt out ... that would get things going! And if the Dees did that, AND make it to the 2023 GF, what would be the odds?! I'd like to see that!!
