For us who have grown up going to AFL matches, we can visualise what is happening out of camera. We understand the overly complicated set of rules and it just makes sense to us. I now live in Qld and my partner describes watching AFL on tele like ants madly running around but with less structure 🤣. She says it is chaotic and the umpire seemingly randomly stopping play for no apparent reason every two seconds. Our game doesn’t translate well on TV to the unitiated NRL is much easier to understand. A rectangular field with the two sides running at each other. Simples.

It’s a half decent effort for an outsider to rate every player on our list. It is obviously subjective but I thought, overall, it was a fair rating.

I have been a passionate Melbourne supporter since the mid 70’s. Robbie is by far my favourite ever player. Daylight second. In my early days going to watch him play was pretty much the only reason to go to our matches. The other team probably won but they didn’t have Robbie playing for them.

To be fair, aside from 6 flags as a player (2 as premiership captain) and another 4 as coach, AFL and Melbourne teams of the century, Australian Football Hall of fame - Legend Status, Sport Australia Hall of Fame etc, etc what would Barrass know about footy? Nothing! PS 10 Premierships! Isn’t that amazing

Gold Coast had picks 19, 27, 30, 41 & 46. My understanding is that if any team bid on Havana Harris then GC had to match the bid within the next 18 picks (they pretty much get a one round discount). So if any of the first 8 teams with picks were to bid for Harris they were always going to have to cough up pick 19. In other words it didn’t really matter who bid on her. It also explains why they didn’t mind giving up pick 2 for Mithen.

Anyone know how tall Amelia Dethridge is?

To be fair on Tayla she spent less than a week in Paris with Nike and missed just ONE scheduled training Having said that I am not adverse to her moving on if we get a good pick for her. BangBnagBang’s Tayla plus pick 20 for 14 & 28 seems fair to all involved. I am concerned with her playing down back particularly when the ball hits the ground

Love that Lily is an original. Love that she came to us despite having connections and offers from the Cats. Love that she has never taken a backward step on the field. However pick #2 for her seems like a ridiculously one sided offer - in favour of us. We would be mad not to take it.

I’d have A. Mackin in the team before Mithen. I’ve always liked Lilly but think the game may have passed her by. To be honest I’m bit concerned she has two years left on her contract. I think Aimee will be a significant addition for us. I wonder if they have any other Irish girls on the radar?? How do they get drafted? Apparently they have high hopes for the athletic 185cm Jacinta Hose - she may make round 1 team and you’d think pick 10 in this years draft would be close. I’m really looking forward to next year. Think we’ll do well

Tahlia Gillard is only 20 Tahlia Gillard is only 20! Bloody hell. It will be more than interesting to follow her career path. She is already one of the best defenders in the game Also didnt know that Chaplin is still so young (22). For some reason I thought she was a mature age recruit last year. Won’t have to worry about filling her HB spot till into the 2030’s. Such a high footy IQ

It is going to be interesting to see what they have planned for Tayla Harris next year. We have Zanker, Gall and Campbell who are all tall forwards. Both Gall and Campbell were looking increasingly at home towards the end of this season. Gall, in particular has pretty sticky hands and an accurate shot at goal. Add into that the 185cm Jacinta Hose who the club had so much faith in they drafted her at pick 24 last year even though she was never going to play this year. She is apparently incredibly athletic with a very high ceiling. We won’t be short with talls.

You’d think she’d be a shot for the AA Captain.
