Went to the netball final. Incredible game. Vixens champions. Walked past the MCG after the game and pies fans were leaving early. What a great night

Despite a shocker of a year, one positive (I’m clutching at straws) would seem that we have had very few soft tissue injuries, or injuries at all if you take out those to AMW and McAdam. Which must put the heat on other factors of why we’ve only won 6 games. I know fitness is talked about ad nauseum but I just can’t fathom why a professional football club is not fit. Is it attitude to not go the extra yard when you are hurting, is it abdicating responsibility to other players who are on the big bucks but who are also not performing? Or is the answer a pineapple? 🤷🏻‍♂️

A fellow DLer posted wheelo ratings for kicking efficiency of the 183 midfielders / mid- forwards in the comp which has Oliver ranked at 142, Viney at 169 and Trac (OMG) at 176. This is not just a statistic but a very clear observation when I attend games. Q1. Am I being melodramatic or is this now at the stage where it is costing us games? I get that the players are often under pressure but so many kicks do not hit targets. Q2. As these 3 have been 10 years in the system how can it ( ie. atrocious disposal) be possibly fixed, or is it an immensely frustrating, rinse and repeat for the remainder of the season? Obviously kicking efficiency is not a priority when you sign contracts, multi million or otherwise, at the Dees. Kozz is excused but that is damning for a few others.

Spot on Old Dee. Been going to the Vixen’s games and watching my daughter play netball in the Northern Football Netball League. Far more enjoyable. I love the Dees and will be forever grateful for 2021, but gee they have broken me this year.

A few years ago I was picking up my daughter from netball training at Coburg High on the outside courts. I noticed a woman on her own on an adjacent court having shot after shot on goals. She looked familiar , it was the Vixen’s goal shooter at the time, Caitlin Thwaites. My daughter said she’d been there for ages. Here she was, on her own, suburban court, practicing, shot after shot after…… I think you get my point. No excuses!

The other stat re. JVR is that of the 8 games he has played we have lost every one and, you guessed it, the 5 he didn’t play we have won. No blame intended but doubt that would be good for his confidence.

Poor integrity of the comp? Can’t see it myself. By way of example have a look at Collingwood’s draw. 5 interstate games spaced as follows - opening round, r6, r9, r18 and r23. Throw in two byes and 12 of the last 14 games in Melbourne. 😳

Agreed but the AFL and media love the controversy. All week they were pushing the Bailey Smith v Bulldogs line and trying to incite a response. The cameras during the game honed in on a group of mad Dogs fans going nuts and upped the volume when the booing came for Bailey. Smith had more camera on him than Nick Daicos. All had the desired effect. Corns v Bev just part of the same soap opera. Tune in for the next instalment

Only thing missing in this farce was the Benny Hill music being played on the loud speakers.

Marshall and Hewitt both fined in Friday night’s game for tripping. The former for “attempting to trip”. I’m heading to AFL House if the Hawk’s player isn’t at least fined.

While it does seem a little strange that JVR has been left out, the coaches votes for the Casey game last week may tell a different story. See that gossip column journo Damo is at it again in his “if and when” dribble. Geelong would have finished 12th if not for his man crush Scott’s coaching (never a negative word against the Cats) and Petracca still on the table for trade. Ah well, I clicked on it so has the desired outcome.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but any thoughts about La Trobe uni? Matildas have their home base there I believe. Loads of space, great facilities. Links to uni sports science wouldn’t go astray. Win win?

Where’s Caleb Windsor in that line up? Don’t mind Bailey Sniff but much prefer Caleb who is, and will be, an absolute gun.

Next year? Have you seen Essendon’s draw this year? Ten (in a row) of their last eleven games in Melbourne. Me thinks Scotty still has some mates at AFL House.
