  1. Explains a lot Dazz, clearly trying to get training away from peepin eyes early!! Don't worry I'll take my swag, portable BBQ, some Jackies and camp out for the night. Only one thing stops me
  2. I would love to say, that training was the best I've seen EVER!!! I would love to say that Angus Young from ACDC TRAINED THE HOUSE DOWN and could be added to our list! I would love to say that the weather was perfect BUT ALAS NONE OF IT WOULD BE TRUE Point number 1 the only players training were the core defence unit. More on that in a minute? Point number 2 Sorry for misleading you, but if Jayden Hunt resplendent with long hair under a school type hat ain't a dead ringer for Angus Young of ACDC Then he's darn close enough to be his twin? Piont 3 Typical Casey weather Sleet, Wind, Rain, Sunshine tending to Mercury like temperatures all within an hour and a half!? Training report. Arrived at ground to see quite a few but not packed car park at Casey at 9.40 Whether for COVID or other reasons the only players training were the defensive unit. This consisted of Lever, May, Smith, Nev, Petty, Rivers, HUNT, and BOWEY. Hibbo was also a no show. Tomlinson's only involvement was taking pot shots from 25 meters into a wheelie bin. For what reasons I couldn't say, he didn't look injured but saw him in conversation with Alan Richardson. The session was lead by Chocko Williams. I highlighted both Jayden Hunt and Jake Bowey as I'm interested in the likely impact both would have as defenders? I thought Hunt looked good to very good last year in attack and I would have thought Bowey's skill set would see him potentially taking a forward like role. The drills were interesting in that it is my feeling that this was not a high intensity session and could almost be as laid back as AFL Training gets. Drill A Involved the options of running the ball out in spread and finding a target through creation of space. The added element though seemed to be the new "Stand the Mark" rule which will really test all players given that the moment a mark or free kick is paid you cannot move at all. Its as if your boots are superglued to the turf and any minor movement will see players getting pinged left right and centre. I think it is a shocking rule and I can see games being won and lost with it. The players mentioned trained ok but as iterated it was not a high intensity drill. Drill B Involved players with backs to other player 30-40 mts away throwing or bouncing the ball and depending on its landing players turned quickly right or left footed to spear a pass to either leading or stationary target. Again a few excellent passes and a few MEH! Drill C Players taking ball and having pot shots on goal That's about it except for one slightly strange thing. At one stage Clarry ventured out from rooms with ???? Staffer maybe. walking around the boundary line looking at his phone, Music pod whatever stopping once or twice then heading back into rooms. I could speculate many other players may have been indoors doing a weights session but who knows?? Mitch Brown also appeared early and seemed to be doing some rehab work with Staffer for about 15-20 mins. I sincerely hope things step up from here and further, someone can find out if the Richmond or other practice match is on when, as even if a "'closed session" its easy to see through the fence! P.S If Jayden Hunt can play guitar half as good as Angus Young, then his career at end of footy days seems assured! Cheers PF ? ADDITIONAL TRAINING REPORT FROM DWORSHIP HERE
  3. Ok Ill say it...... If we continue to play guys like Melksham, Spargo, Baker, and even Hibberd et al we will amount to nothing Start playing Bowey, Laurie, and "The Freak" Fraser Rosman EARLY !!! Just to explain the Nickname "The Freak" came about after I saw him two weeks ago in simulated match practice take "The Mark of the Game" then in another bit of play kick "The Goal of the game" from 50 out on the wrong side for a left footer on an acute angle, without too much bother!!! FREAKISH !!
  4. Nothing and I say again absolutely nothing can top this game for me!!??? ANNNND the after match party at MINOOTZ RESTAURENT in Collingwood I think was a particularly great night! Players, Wives, Coaches hangers on and associated hangers on partied on in what still remains for me a pivotal moment in time!! Not sure if this restaurent is still around!!?
  5. Me either, gave us nothimg in 2020. Fraser Rosman can play his role!
  6. Apologies also from me.I too went to Casey this morning all fired up to provide a report and was disappionted to find no one there. HOPEFULLY next week I can provide another report. Cheers to all P.F
  7. Hopefully I can get down again for another report! Cheers PF
  8. With all due respect... Preussy is a poor mans Majak Daw IMO
  9. Not necessarily, Aerobic fitness refers to Cardiovascular fitness. For example, Ed Langdon has it in spades, runs all day! Muscular definition is just that Muscular definition. Majak definitely has that but as to his Aerobic capacity?? Depends how fit he is!
  10. He is 1/3 Uncle Bitter, 1/3 your good self Dazzle and 1/3 my good self when fit about a zillion years ago!!!??? Agree, he is a specimen and a half and could become the new "Cult" hero!! among the Demon faithful.
  11. Ok Ill be brave....Welcome to MFC Majak, Hopefully u provide us with viable multi footy options and a few lfe perspectives as well. Good luck PF
  12. Majak Daw has done more in his career than Oscar. A big Yes from me! Just a feeling
  13. Norf dumped 11 read again 11 not even we would do that
  14. I like it! Great Backup for Max offers defence and forward options and at little cost.3 spots available DAW , WIZ JUNIOR and DEAKYN SMITH to take these opportunities.?
  15. Yes probably a little misleading. To my mind we have 2 and a half A Graders Max Clarry and Trac ,May almost so what I am suggesting is the more we have the second tier expands! Look at Richmond 5 or 6 A graders and they set the benchmark
  16. Dazzle gee I can see a truckload of potential there, I wouldn't say he looks overawed but still finding his feet in the pressure cooker. He is very very quick and skills are neat.Took a clever mark and just missed kicking a goal into the breeze. Has a box of tricks ,but needs to grow in confidence, will need a few seasons but a definite keeper?
  17. Adressed in redited version Kicked a couple of opportunistic goals but didnt have any set shots. As iterated Dangerous!!!
  18. Ventured to Casey this morning to find the arena "bathed" in light. Thinking I might have stumbled on part two of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, I was somewhat intrigued to see that the lights at Casey had in fact been turned on!! Warmups consisted more or less of similar to last Friday, before segueing into a full scale practice match between the navy blues and the royal blues. Unless you knew the numbers, the colors were somewhat indistinguishable! Here is my report. NO SHOWS, VINEY, KOSSIE, BEN BROWN, HIBBO, JOEL SMITH??? There might have been others but being outside the ground again made it difficult to distinguish LIMITED DUTIES MITCH BROWN, SPARGO, GUS , MELKSHAM MATCH REPORT The match ups were interesting with the navy blues containing what I believe to be the probables against the possibles, although having said that players who made up most of last year’s list were sprinkled between the two sides. RANDOM HIGHLIGHTS AND A FEW LOW ONES AS WELL Game split into 4 about 15-20 min quarters, stiff wind blowing northerly away from the city, umpires were AFL list, I hink. Trent Rivers played well across HBF and has become more at home and composed with the footy. Ed Langdon was all over it on the wing and won possession after possession. Harry Petty was played down back and whilst he did a few nice things, was not noticeable. James Jordan has skills and played well in a variety of roles. Vanders was back and was involved in a few bone jarring tackles and was his usual imposing self. At one stage Max took umbrage to his fierce tackling and let him know about it. Clayton "Minestrone" Oliver was in everything and was the catalyst to so many clearances. His disposal was crisp and clean. It was between Max, Langdon and for BOG. The name "Minestrone" for me conjures up the fact that in one you get everything ... That was choo choo today! L.J WOW ... has he come of age? Took marks, kicked three goals, rucked, roved and was a catalyst - is ready to impose this year! Harmes played ON BALL resting on a half forward flank and was back to his best. Expect to see him more in midfield this year. Bailey Laurie and Jake Bowey - take a bow recruiting team led by team Jason Taylor. Both are quick, decisive with hand and foot and both are excitment machines destined to play early this year, probably Bailey Laurie more so at this stage. Fraser "The Freak" Rosman, WOW, Today took the MOTD and also kicked TGOTD. Was instrumental in some set ups and will play early. Faded towards the end but ... is exciting. Trac just cannot be tackled he is soooo elusive just reminds me of myself in my heyday LOL ... Played like he did last year. Tom McDonald was quiet early (matched up against Steve May) but kicked 2 or 3 good goals. Similar to last week where I singled out Chunky Jones, today it was NEV JETTA'S turn to wind back the clock with a really good display down back. Fritta was fritta laconic BUT dangerous. Max did as he liked and whilst this is good please God if he or Clarry gets injured >>>>> ? Others to impress were Aaron Nietschke, will be a formidable ruckman, Jay Lockhart, Toby Bedford, Kade Chandler and Aaron Bradke, Hunt was busy of the hbf and Chunky decisive POSITIVES As above, plus plenty of endeavour skills seemed better under pressure and players looking for smart options, we should have plenty of scope for multi options and a very strong second tier who are sure to put pressure on for game day spots in the ones. NEGATIVES We still have issues with kick out strategies. other teams seem to be able to do this at will but we struggle and a few times played on only to bomb hopefully. we stiil will over rely on our core group , but i can see visible narrowing of superstars and next tier. Hitting targets under pressure needs to be the focus No slitherers seen today thankfully Cheers PF
  19. Thanks Earl, pretty similar in some ways to my previous report regarding missed targets and lack of goals. I do find this very concerning. Agree the Old Jetty Cafe is a winner, but the Bakery is tops. They sell magnificent meat and Veg family pasties for 17 bucks which do 2 meals easy. Thanks for report! I might send you a message so that next time we might hook up and do a dual report. Cheers PF p.s Mitch Browns mark was excellent and he should play early rounds, I really like him, he moves well and puts himself into dangerous positions!
  20. And I'll reference my comments with the Caveat, that, given the History of head knocks there is NO WAY we should contemplate this for medical reasons only. I shudder to think what another one would do. No!
