  1. Nar we'd need Sydney to throw in some steak knives to get that one done.
  2. The point I was making is that you don't hear st Kilda or hawthorn fans sooking about Carlisle's possible suspension but us Melbourne supporters are carrying on like pork chops regards Melksham's possible suspension.
  3. For anyone that thinks he's a dud, go and YouTube the highlights of the Essendon v Carlton game of Rd 11 2013 and check out who kicks the clutch winning goal with 1:30 left. Also everyone's stressing about Melksham's possible suspension, but nobody has ever posed the same concerns about Carlisle, who was likely part of the 34.
  4. I reckon he'll extend for a further 4 years to take him up to 8 years and free agency.
  5. I thought North were tremendous in winning 2 finals. They're 4-2 in finals over the last 2 years which is a good record in anyone's language. I hate North as much as the next Melbourne supporter but credit where credit is due - finals wins are hard to get.
  6. We were rumoured to be interested in Varcoe before everyone here laughed the it off.
  7. I was doing cart wheels when we got Vince for pick 23 because I knew it was essentially a straight swap of Sylvia for Vince
  8. In other news, Essendon are trying to sell Courtney Dempsey to Melbourne for Angus Brayshaw as well as a late MFC draft pick as a sweetener.
  9. Watts for Melksham straight swap? No exchange of picks, no steak knives, nothing , just a straight swap.
  10. I've got another streak: We haven't won at Etihad as an away team since round 12 2006, vs Essendon.
  11. I certainly did. The amount of heartbreaking losses we've had at that joint....
  12. If win round 1 next year does that mean the 2 in a row hoodoo is gone?
  13. Moore would just be another Michie or Newton recruit, an average player who is clearly not best 22. Port supporters can't stand him as a player.
  14. Oh well at least I got point 3 right. Still can't beat the Nick Reiwoldt football club.....
  15. Lucky he was brought back for that round 23 game against the Doggies, 2 years ago at Etihad. Played well in defense and obviously caught the eye of Roos at the time.
  16. Agree. And would be disappointing if we lost both Howe and Garland in the one off season. Could live with losing one due to the potential compensation in return but not both.
  17. First time we've won a round 16 game since 2004 - v's Western Bulldogs at Etihad.
  18. What happened to him last night? As far as I know he played out the game and will be available for selection next week.
  19. Probably round 4 2013 when we beat GWS in that 12 goal last qtr.The last time we won a game in the month of July was 2011 vs Port in Darwin. The last time we won a game in the month of August was 2012 vs GWS at the Manuka.
  20. Apparently his name is Darren Hockey. Is reported to have got married at a pizza hut on the morning of a game and then attended an MFC game that afternoon. He was quoted in the below age article, re: Jimmy's funeral. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/all-a-bad-dream-widow-farewells-jim-stynes-at-emotional-melbourne-funeral-20120326-1vvf1.html Darren 'Hocko' Hocking, a Melbourne Football Club cheer squad member for 35 years, stood with his 12-year-old son Stewart waving goodbye to Stynes with two giant handmade Melbourne flags. "He was the spirit of football itself," Mr Hocking said. Mr Hocking, who had gone to Federation Square with his son, wife Elizabeth and nine-year-old daughter Brooke, said he had seen Stynes' first game of football with Melbourne. "He's made mistakes, corrected them then took us out of debt so we can carry on and that's what we're going to do," he said. "He is a great loss but he's given us a new vitalisation so that hopefully in a few years we can finally win a grand final."
  21. Someone actually purchased that jacket?
  22. Wasn't that guy named Hocko? I think he was in the cheersquad until the late 90's or early 2000s. Then he appeared to have his own smaller unoffical cheersquad in the olympic stand pocket. I haven't seem him at the footy for years.
  23. This from Wayne Carey this morning: When Hogan was lining up for one of his three goals against the Doggies last week, rival skipper Robert Murphy was apparently doing his best to put him off by screaming "You can't miss this, you're Melbourne's great white hope". Indeed, in his 16th season, Murphy probably had every reason to believe that sledging a first-year player might work. Which is why Hogan's response, after kicking the goal, is truly priceless. "And there's your great white hope," he retorted, pointing to Tom Boyd, who was sitting on the Dogs' bench at the time.
  24. Which afl club do you work for, sir Paul Roos?
