PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 18th December 2024

Does anyone have an idea if there'll be any open sessions early in the new year? Here with the kids for a month and thought I'd try and prove to them big Maxy is a real person and not just someone we see on the TV at 5am in Germany sometimes... -
Wow Matt Hill’s commentary such a breath of fresh air. Puts in perspective how low the art of commentary has fallen since we lost Dennis, Sandy Roberts etc. It’s like listening to a grown-up again, rather than to a bunch of teenagers giggling at their own jokes.

In the heartland no less! How DARE they… 😤

Well the only bit of that game I saw was a replay of some pie getting a shoulder to the head. It’s not much, but I’ll take it, as my only memory of the end to a very depressing September. I will now use my remaining mental strength trying not to imagine the two worst offenders receiving their medals. Damn, I just imagined it. Out! Out damn Cox! Go Dees.

Absolute no brainer.

That's a pretty long wait for a team that just made a prelim. Unless you're planning on a few in-between, which is unwise cos I think we all know the Dees have got the next three sewn up.... 🥴 But bad luck No. 31, you guys gave it a good shake for your first finals series in a decade. Lots to look forward to.

You can sign it over to another member. I did that in ‘18.

This is the season that just keeps delivering. TV off, can’t bear the thought of getting that earworm.

It’s weird the similarity in feeling between wanting a result out of hatred and wanting one out of love.

How is that “really well tackled by Nick Daicos” ??? He strangled him!
-
Bedford kicking like he’s still at Melbourne.
-
Cox and Maynard combining for that GWS goal. So sweet.

Oof listening to the clusterwank from the commentary team about the pies and particularly Daicos brothers is just nauseating. And then every time they make a mistake hearing the commentators all start to have a cry is VERY satisfying. Excuses excuses… Gee Collingwood just don’t deserve the absurdly frothing plaudits they’ve received from the media this year. What an absolute circle-jerk the boys club is. Dummies wouldn’t know original idea if it launched at em front on and knocked em unconscious.

All I know is there’ll be a lot of red meat and tofu left over if they retire together.

Thanks for addressing this! Just to clarify, I'm also loathe to blame the umpires, and like @binman I don't believe there's some greater conspiracy to see a Carlton/Collingwood GF (I think the AFL would do just as well out of the story of a Dees/Pies one but anyway), or any of the other nonsense about clubs being favoured/targeted etc. I don't even really mind the inconsistencies as long as it all roughly works out in the end, and again, a few straight kicks (or just three more behinds!) and I suspect we wouldn't be talking about the umps. BUT, the Max-handling is insane, it's a real problem. Maybe it's cos he's so big, and also such a large character in the game that people think he's indestructible. And as our skipper he does a good job of shaking it off. But sometimes it's hard to not see it as some kind of lack of respect for him or the club. The pile on in the media this week about how fragile we are after whoever it was saying Gus getting knocked out affected the team (which of COURSE it effing did!) – the fact of that pile on suggests making any statement about Max's treatment would basically make us the sooky pariahs of the comp. So yeah, bloody straighten up the kicks and also, the ARC can gagf. Thanks for the pod fellas, you're doing the lord's (or rather the demon's) work there.

Oh sorry, just saw this!

Do you believe there are really questions to be answered in terms of how we’re treated by the umpires? Does the club need to officially make some point about Max getting clobbered on and off the ball, or the severity of our suspensions, etc etc. Does it need to appeal these suspensions more vociferously? Is this really an issue just against us? Or is the umpiring of the game more generally in trouble and all supporters of all clubs feel they’re hard done by. (The ARC is obviously a whole separate issue that everyone is unsatisfied with). Or should we just straighten up our kicking in which case we win most of the games we lost this year, umpires be damned…?
