Tom McDonald has always taken several games at AFL level to find his groove after a lay-off. He takes longer than most to find his touch, the evidence of that is there and his first game back at VFL level he looked extremely rusty. Not only that, he pulled up sore. So playing this weekend would be a potential disaster decision for the club imo. Van Rooyen on the other hand.. He's had a consistent block of form, he's super competitive so getting involved at ground level is not an issue. He has Max and Ben Brown to take Andrews and Payne so he'll get third best defender or maybe even fourth if Fritsch is playing. He will bring enormous energy and excitement to the players and to the fans. It's possible he'd drag more through the gate. I just think it's a no brainer. The obstacle is Goodwin and how conservative he is. But it's clear in my mind that if we want to win it this year, we need to throw some curve-balls at the opposition.

Disagree that Chandler has had his chances. Especially not this year.
-
Lacks physicality and competitiveness for a big. And we already have two bigs in Weed and Brown who possess that trait.
-
Nice. I thought there was a possibility you worked for ticketek and I was gearing up to hurl some abuse your way once I got it out of you!
-
And that is super disappointing that it's not even looking like 60k.
-
Love your work. But how the hellllll do you know this information?!

Seriously, just roll the dice Goodwin and stop being so safe. JVR will provide a contest in the air but more importantly he will at ground level too. Bowey played half forward a heap through his unders year, he can be given Spargo's role. Brings high energy, pressure and skill to a half forwardline. We know Goody won't drop ANB even after his performance warrants a demotion. JVR for Melksham, Bowey for Spargo. At least the fans will have something to get excited about and could drag more supporters along to what looks like will be an underwhelming crowd from us. JVR will breathe life into the group and bring a new energy in. Be bold Goodwin. Your 'method' has been found wanting this year and clearly we're not bringing the same level of consistency for our game to be firing on all cylinders. Just give us something new and something to get up and about for.

Absolutely, positively and unquestionably no.

I didn't listen. But generally interested in knowing if the loading topic was discussed? And if not, why the silence?

Wow, Ralphy echoing every other reporter who are also playing the process of elimination. Amazzzzzing reporting.

Lobbe, Acres and 'possibly' a future first-rounder for Pick 1? Can't see North doing that under Clarkson's watch!
-
He's explosive, hard and competitive and versatile and has a lot of growth left given his injury history. I just think he'd be a good project and has some great scope. Disagree, his disposal is fine. Definitely not laser, but no more inconsistent than Petracca, Brayshaw etc at the best of times.

Like Andy Mahhhhher, I'm genuinely stunned that Carlton have delisted Stocker. They traded up on the night of the draft just to select him in the first round! Bizarre ! I'd offer him a spot for sure.

We've won 16 games from our defence. We've struggled with our offensive connection and efficiency for years and if we'd nailed that we could be anything to be honest. The pocket kick whilst a percentage play many times is used by us far too often, so often that players now miss open leading players elsewhere because of their tunnel vision. I would say it's barely a percentage play anymore. Opposition teams load up numbers to where we kick to and use skills and smarts to exit our forward 50 due to our poor forward pressure. Not only is it frustrating to watch. It's incredibly boring and supporters become sick of it very quickly. I just want some life breathed into this side this week. Give us some new looks at players, we've got nothing to lose now. We're not favourites and we are incredibly inconsistent with our form. May as well throw the oppo a curve ball. Especially Geelong if we get through this week. Be bold and show some courage Goody. Clearly what we've dished up against fellow top 4 teams hasn't worked. For once I want to see some genuine match-day strategy from Goody instead of this boring template that the best oppo teams now know how to handle. Give us something Goodwin.

Frankly, I'd like to see some personnel change. We've been incredibly inconsistent for the entire second half of the year and I've remained annoyed like others that Goodwin has simply refused to blood players that have been in form at VFL. Chandler for instance. Is he the stiffest bloke going around? What happened to rewarding form? I believe the club and supporters will get a kick out of changing some things up this weekend. Brisbane just had a debutant and look at what happened? I'd love to see JVR get a gig and bring Bowey and Chandler in. We need a shake up, it's just all too boring and vanilla atm and the 22 need some excitement and a rev up. Make it happen Goodwin.

What a change of tune. Aren't we meant to be peaking atm?

We're a fickle lot. And I can already see supporters not showing up purely because of last week. Which is pathetic. If we get under 60k it'll be embarrassing.

It's not overlooked by those who don't put so much emphasis on the effect loading has had on us. Which would be many on here. There are that many factors that come into it before loading I wouldn't know where to start. It's just been a ridiculously overblown thread the entire year. And of course, as soon as we lose a qualifying final, (the time of season in which the entire 'loading' talk was designed for), we put in a performance that resembled those of the middle of the season. And we hear nothing from those who were happy to write a thesis on why losing those games were due to fatigue because of loading.

You might need to rewatch the game without the blindfold this time in regards to ANB's performance. You'd be about the only one on this supporter bar Saty that would have that view. Unbelievable.

I genuinely hope Jackson goes. Nothing personal, but it's time to rejig our list and Jackson simply isn't worth what Freo want to pay him. Grundy and two first rounders is exactly what we need for another tilt over the next few years. And it's not just about the two first rounders, it's what we will be able to do with them as far as pick trading goes. We're masters of that. The game evolves, we need to as well. I admire what Goodwin was able to do last year and it's taken years for it to click. But the next step is to tinker again to stay ahead of the game. The swannies showed us that next stage of evolution. Their list is more dynamic, they play with more flair and they're far better balanced as a list. They brought extreme pressure and used skill to move around us. That's modern day footy. We're relying on a system that was impenetrable for a season and now many teams know how to combat us. Our defensive foundation and system is still unreal, but we need to add layers. Otherwise we'll fall back to the pack in the blink of an eye.

BUMP. Let's hear it 'loaders'. Don't go quiet now! Would love some analysis surrounding our noticibly low energy/motivation levels last night that clearly impacted our ability to bring our pressure game which the rest of our game-plan relies on... Sounds familiar.. I mean, it was eerily similar to the game we played against them earlier in the season. Yet the loaders were more than happy to dissect that game and point out that our lack of energy was due to the heavy loading phase we were going through. @binman @Lord Nevand @1964_2 we're all waiting for last night's explanation for an almost identical game. Or are we STILL LOADING? Over to you loaders.

Ticketek have just released a whole heap of areas up for purchase now so looks like it won't be as big as predicted. Hope we get a bunch of last minuters jumping on board.
