Dumb Crows in handing Dogs all the publicity. Should have picked the kid they wanted and let Roos nominate him and then he would be 2 not 1.

Terrible move by the Crows.   Lost all the prestige  and marketing bonus of having the #1 pick.

"Yes but you see Goody, the final 8 system was a joke back in 1998.  We belted you in the first week of the finals and our reward was being put into the harder part of the draw while your Adelaide mob got a 2nd chance and a free ride into the Grand Final.  I will never forget that."

  3. Well took me until draft day to get excited about the draft, better late than never I say.  Tonight we will have a few new kids on the list...    with the Victorians not playing all year this is the perfect draft to steal some untapped talent thats flown under the radar.

    Its Jason Taylor time baby!

Why is there so much love for this bloke?

I feel like he’s been telling the Dusty story to anyone who’ll listen for 6 years. I also think he benefits greatly from an association with Richmond when he actually wasn’t there when they came good.

It’s very hard to tell from the outside what impact player development roles have. He might be amazing, or maybe Dustin Martin, the 3rd pick in the AFL draft, was always going to be a great footballer. Hope to be proven wrong, just find it really interesting that theres such a lovefest for him in such a nondescript role. Maybe I missed something?

Well he coached Port to their only flag, ending the Brisbane Lions dynasty in the process.

Also took them to another GF... the last coach to take the Demons into two Grand Finals was Norm Smith.

Bludd-oath! Like his dad, he's a small bloke but when he matures, there ain't going to be any problems on the field - fast, cunning, tricky, clever as hell, talented, perfectly mentored up close with his father, hungry to succeed. Playing at Colts level with his adolescent frame is a credit to him, already. Hark, hark, the watch-dogs bark! If he is nominated for the draft, by hell I would hope we use our highest pick to attain him - now!

Maybe just maybe he will be a Demon in a few hours from now.

  6. In light of the Chocco Williams appointment, my pass mark for 2021 has now gone from making the top 4 to a Grand Final appearance.

I have no faith it will happen with the current coach however he now has zero excuses with the team around him.

Spent a couple of years at Ajax Football Club in the Amateurs before his stint at Werribee to prepare himself for greatness at Melbourne.

    Thats a joke right?

He coached Port Adelaide for 12 seasons which included a Premiership and 17 finals appearances then developed the current 3 time flag winning Tigers team.

Who gives a [censored] about AJAX and Werribee

  8. First 3 lines of the article are like porn for a Demon supporter

TURNING around Melbourne's problematic kicking will be the first priority for new Demons head of development Mark 'Choco' Williams.

The Port Adelaide premiership coach has vowed to bring back an "old-school" mentality at the Demons next year in what shapes as a crucial year after two failed seasons under Simon Goodwin.

And he wants to help emerging gun Christian Petracca emulate the feats of his former pupil Dustin Martin.

Guess who’s back? Dees land flag coach to fast track youngsters

You'd have to say Mahoney's been a great servant of the club.  Getting 13 years from any employee is fantastic.

But it's also a long time.

I don't know how anyone could be annoyed with the MFC or Mahoney.  It's been a good union.

Yup.  Its the right time to part ways.

    Wish him all the best.

Surely young enough to be reinvented or adapted to some other position, (or to displace one of the established inside mids ?) ?

Dont think so, seems a one dimensional player like Nathan Jones.  Happy to be proven wrong.

  11. If only his body held up, he would have been our first 100 goal in a season player.  So many memorable games in such a short career.

The first round of 1994 he kicked 8.8 in a massive win over Geelong, started the season on fire and then got injured.  We made the Prelim that year, who knows what would have happened if he was out there in the finals along with Lyon and Schwarz who were both in career best form.
