Higgins has some serious footy smarts. I know he has was out of the side this season late but I would be surprised if the Tigers traded him under contract.
Looks a future star and just a natural footballer to me. I would love him at the Dees but part of me thinks if they did offer him up for trade maybe they might know something we don't.

No idea if these are two of the guys Dr EvIl is talking about but a mate told me today that we're interested in Ed Richards and Jack Billings.
No idea what that means in terms of likelyhood of getting them, but apparently they're two players we'd like to get across if we can.
Ed Richards would be handy and maybe he is gettable. Contracted next year but he might be after a change. He moves well but doesn't get that much of it and I suppose he hasn't really improved that much in his 3 years in the system. I'd take him - could go ok on the wing.
Couldn't see the Saints parting with Jack Billings. Would demand good coin too.

As per Tom Browne, Dunkley will request a trade to Essendon. Makes things interesting.
With the NGA a good chance to go pick 1 any pick the dogs get if they trade Dunkley will get eaten up by that.
They are no chance to get Finlay McRae unless they do a live trade on the night

I do like Mitch but he has been treading water for a couple of years now (maybe injuries to blame). I would have offered a one year deal, at a pinch 2. Doggies come with 3 they must be keen. Fair enough to take that up. All the best Mitch.

5 year deal for Caldwell to the bombers? Is that right? 2nd year player that hasn’t done much to date. Smells a bit desperate. Could turn out ok but bit risky. Is only 183 cm so not exactly that big mid they need.
Based on what Essendon want for Saad they might have to use pick 6 for Caldwell. They might regret using the term compelling compensation

If he is having a medical with us I'd say it must be over the line.

Given all the ‘talk’ on here that we couldn’t get rid of damaged Jesse quick enough - Mahoney must nearly get a statue at the G considering he got 6 & 23 for him

Right age, left sided winger and had some good years statistically in 2018 and 2019.
Is it salary cap squeeze or is there more to it? Clubs generally don't like to let good players go. Interesting.

GWS will get a few picks from free agent compensation. Hopefully we snare one of those. I hope we demand compelling compensation haha
Be good to see Preuss play some senior footy. Good insurance policy but can't play as 2nd ruck. 1 out he is solid.

His numbers looked ok in 2020. Has some appeal but not a heap. 28 next year and contracted. They wont do a deal easily and he would be on a decent salary. Wasting our time to get involved I think.

You just can’t help but smile when reading this news. Football is emotional as we know - welcome back home Adem

Not unhappy with this.
Dodoro asking for compelling compensation. Gee I wish Carlton had pick 1 in the preseason draft. This will get messy.
Note to Dodoro - stop trying to win every single trade by the length of Flemington straight. Don't wait to the last half an hour of trade period to accept, maybe try and turn what Carlton give you into something else. Also nice work holding onto Joey D for another year. Worked out well.

Great news - he truely is one of us! Dees through and through
Any success he had elsewhere would have felt so hollow. Great decision Jack.
Go Dees

Sure Brown is known for his lead and mark but the guy is 200cm. He will be a good target.
Must admit I was a no on this at first but I am getting keen now. A proven goal kicker on our list is certainly a missing piece.
-
I’d take him. Use our 2nd round pick and offer a 3 year incentive based contract.
Take the pressure off Weid

This would be good. I love the romance and he does have a good resume.

Have we been linked to Brown at all?

Good news! Was hoping this one was going to drop soon. Good player. Important player

Very happy with this as Adelaide must have been sniffing around.
These two have shown enough to me that they could make it. Good signings.

If ANB can get a two year deal somewhere else I think it is best he takes it.
He is decent enough depth I suppose but if we are to be any good anytime soon he will not be playing all that often.

other than the ryder to the pear deal, what dodoro-directed deals have been hard?
we've never had any issues dealing with the peptides
Pretty much every deal the guy is involved in is hard work
From memory -
Carlisle to St Kilda went to mediation
Stringer to Essendon went down to the last day
Shiel to Essendon nearly fell over
Joe D didn’t get done
Essendon supporters love him. List manager of a club that hasn’t won a final since Adam was a boy. Hardly a great resume. Long may he continue in that role.

No doubt our midfield mix needs a change up. Whether that is personnel or tactics.
If Viney left would we be better off? Not sure either way but probably not. But what I am very sure of given time to think about it is that seeing Viney running around in another jumper would be a very sad day.
Hope he stays

Just keep an eye and ear out for rumblings about Luke Ball and the Demons in some capacity... An outstanding person, great leader and footy brain.. If i hear any more i will let you know.. right now its just an aside, but it might become a whisper soon and then who knows.
Pleased to hear this. Always been impressed by Luke Ball. To me he looks like he would make a good footy GM. Be happy to take him in any role though.
I was annoyed/jealous we he was first appointed at the Bombers and surprised to see they let him go. Hopefully somethings does come of this.

Might be best to make our intentions known this year and pick him up as a free agent next year. I can't see Essendon trading him this year unless we offer up overs and we have a very week draft hand as it stands.

The Brodie Smith thread

Smith is 29 next year. Couldn't be worth more than a 3rd rounder for a club that is rebuilding. Tmac might get us this pick needed. ANB might be used here also.
Brown for pick 23
GWS will have a number of picks around that 9-15 mark after Williams, Cameron and Caldwell all get traded. I can see us packaging up a few picks (not necessarily next years 1st as I think this is overs) with Preuss and maybe another player (VDB maybe) to get one of these picks.
