  1. I think Baldwin is a very good chance to go in the first round. Good tall players are hard to find compared to other types. He is a risk no doubt so I think a team with multiple early picks will be the one to take a chance.  If GWS doesn't strike I think we will. We have shown that we don't mind taking a risk in the draft.

I might be wrong but I'd like to see him still on the board when our first pick comes.

i'm very confused with their thinking re bedford and chandler? do we know if chandler has been training/developing forward or back i hear mixed reports because if theyre both forwards why are we recontracting the one who didnt play a game and not the one who did or alternatively why did one play games if he isnt as worthy of a list spot going forward as the one who didnt.

it would make sense that Chandler is playing back with Hore, KK, nietschke injured this year long term and jetta seemingly falling off a cliff. we didnt have any real depth bar lockhart. would explain the harmes decision too a bit

Believe Chandler was/has been played back. I think in one the hub videos Egan described him as a 'Rory Laird' type.

Happy that Chandler has been retained. I think he will might be ok.

I can't see Bedford making it though so if he was delisted I would say fair enough.

  3. Not Melbourne related as such but the following does highlight how our attitude does get things done in trade week compared to others  -

Regarding the deal for Caldwell, who the Bombers secured along with Picks 44 and 74 for Pick 29 and a future second-round selection, McCartney took aim at Essendon for how they conducted themselves.

“In isolation (as a deal), I was disappointed in what Essendon Football Club ... you need to be fair and reasonable to try and facilitate a transaction and that was somewhat frustrating, I’ll be honest with that,” he said on the club’s website.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, McCartney was even more scathing.

“The Caldwell one was a millimetre away from not getting done either. That’s Essendon: target a player, high quality, get him in the door, and then not (be) prepared to stump up the price to actually facilitate the deal.”

Relating to Hately, who the Giants will now get no return for losing, McCartney said a sour taste had been left by the Crows.

“We knew there was a threat there of the pre-season draft ... we were honest with Adelaide right from the word go, he was a Pick 14 two years ago, we thought he was a pick in the 18 to 25 region and closer to 25 in all fairness,” he said.

“They weren’t willing to get anywhere near that deal, which was really disappointing considering some of the deals we’ve done with Adelaide over the last two years.

“It was left way too late by Adelaide to facilitate something on the night.”

I think JT has a dozen names already listed for his pick 18,19 options (end up pick 22/23) and who might even be left at 28 (#34/35).

    Finlay Macrae**

    Archie Perkins **

    Jack Carroll**

    Nik Cox **

    Brayden Cook

    Bailey Laurie

    Caleb Poulter

    Eddie Ford

    Isaiah Winder

    Nick Stevens

    Zavier Maher

and perhaps a possible bid at Brandon Walker.

(** I think these will all go prior to our pick but who knows on draft day )

What do you think of Jake Bowey? Looked good to me in that that futures game.  On the small side at 175cm but plays wing and has some real zip and looks a really good kick. Exactly what we need.

Pick 8 for Adam [censored] Saad.... you can not be serious.

The AFL are clearly helping the Bombers behind the scenes.

I guess Christian Salem would get us a top 3 pick then if Saad can get pick 8.

Yes Carlton stuffed up there. They should of split pick 8 early in the trade period for a couple of later picks. Then the Bombers would have had no choice but to accept one of them as the week went on. Holding onto 8 was a mistake. Essendon were the big winners on that one.

Hopefully the Bombers end up forking out massive overs for Dunkley.

  6. Awesome work Gawndog98

Could I suggest a video of Sam Weideman?

Watching Pickett's highlights you can see his work rate.

Great work putting the fast forward in there when a player gets involved multiple times in the same passage of play. Never seen this before in highlights packages. Works really well. Great thinking!

The key forward has elected Melbourne as his preferred club after Essendon expressed interest. The Demons are not willing to part with pick No.25, however, which could make a quick deal difficult. Told he was surplus to requirements at North, reducing the possibility of a prime draft pick in return. (AFL.com.au)

     Josh ‘Dodoro’ Mahoney

We normally deal quick but might be a good idea to deal with Preuss, Hannan and most likely TMac first and see what picks we have after that.

  8. I’d be keen on Treloar but not sure we would offer him 5 years (as per his current contract).

Our midfield is already full and we don’t have enough minutes to give to everyone now. Couldn’t see Treloar coming unless we traded out a mid. Brayshaw would be the one I guess. Not sure how I feel about that but maybe we need to do something ballsy to make things happen.  Our midfield would be heaps better balanced with this change.

Can someone please explain this quote from Dodoro for me that was in the age this afternoon.

    https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/joey-was-really-close-to-staying-bombers-ceo-20201030-p56a2l.html

“I would like to thank Brisbane for their dealings in recent weeks. We feel we have reached a fair deal," he said.

Why would they be dealing/negotiating with Brisbane? As a RFA wouldn't Brisbane just put forward an offer to Joe and his management to which the bombers then review and decide to match? Isn't that how its supposed to work?

With my conspiracist googles on, it reads like they have been trying to engineer a first round compensation pick through what I can only imagine would be a form of either draft or trade tampering. I'll be keeping an eye out for a lop sided pick swap or some sort of transfer of player dirt cheap.

    Yes very interesting quote indeed.

I assume the dealings may have gone something like -  Brissy first offer was 600k a year for 4 years. Dodoro goes no make it $700k a year for 3 years. That will give us pick 7 and we won’t force you to trade for him. We both win.

  10. With Geelong's Dad's army approach surely some of their younger players will look to move on.

Lachlan Forgarty would be the one I would be chasing. Contracted until 2021 but has only played a handful of games in the last 2 seasons (maybe injuries, I dont know enough) . I like him as a player. Smallish type but moves well. Mid half forward type.  Would add nicely to our mix.
