  1. Thinking it could have got ugly at 3/4 time. Glad we kicked the first in the last and a stress free last 10 mins.

Oliver clear BOG, I’d have May 2nd best and Jackson was the real pleasing thing to come from tonight. The kid has learnt, hardly bodied up in the ruck and he is dynamic when it hits the ground.

Swallow looks good. I think he will be handy.

A lot of passengers tonight and our skills are still shocking for the most part. Need to get Pickett, Rivers and Hannan back in. And lets see how Jordon goes. We just need to play/find players with a better skill level. Otherwise we are going nowhere.

Agree. Meanwhile Essendon who continue to get kissed on the [censored] with this years fixture are off to Adelaide to play the crows... AFL's pet team.

Yes absolute Joke. I’d love to have Essendon’s draw thus far. Anyone would think they finished 17th last year. Doing all they can for them the AFL.

  3. Good win I thought. Under massive pressure and Suns are actually quite decent.

TMac injury was really challenging for us.  Structure looked better just a shame we didn’t have 2 key position forwards all night. Weed did well as the only tall.

Bennell is class and looked good tonight. We are desperate for his kicking skills.

They kicked some flukey goals. Pleased they missed a few gettable ones.

Also if you pay a down field free and the ball goes OOB the ball has to come all the way back. Umpires missed that one with the Rankine to Ellis goal in the 3rd.

Commentators do struggle when they just commentate off the TV feed.  Not sure why Gary gets so many Melbourne games. I’d rather he didn’t.

Finally that ground is a cow paddock and not sure how it will hold up with all the extra traffic. Hope it doesn’t rain too much.

  4. In: Lockhart   Out: Bennell

Harmes to play a bit more through midfield to open up a spot for another backman to come in. Harmes could possibly tag Danger.

Selwood is still the key to the Cats to me. I’d be sending Viney to him.

  5. Gee wiz - hell why don't they let McKenna play on Saturday night? No close contacts deemed at a contact training session, why wouldn't that be the same for a game?

Staggering really. Health official advice on this is hard to swallow given what has been said to the community. Looks like this has been done to appease the AFL which is a shame. If they were cautious as they should be they should shut the whole club should down for 14 days.

Lets hope no more positive tests come from this. I am actually glad we wont be playing them for a while.

  6. If they don’t deem all the Essendon players he had a contact training with ‘close contacts’ I would be a bit perplexed.

If they say they are not isn’t it basically saying you are ok to play a game of footy if you have the virus. I am sure they train with a lot of body contact - surely they will all have to quarantine.

Some powers at work here trying to minimise the damage. I wouldn’t want to be playing against them in the next month.  Unless they deem playing footy is safe of course by making them all not quarantine.

  7. Great work by the club to organise a full scale intra club. Loved the energy from the b team after kicking goals. Looks like the best lead into the Geelong game given the  circumstances.

Lets hope Geelong can get on the park come Sunday.

  8. Like the changes

Gawn can ruck pretty much all day with the reduced quarters

Lacking a 2nd tall forward might mean we will actually lower our eyes going forward. Less bombing in. Scored 4 out of our 5 first quarter goals last week from marks - one of one marks pretty much.

Pleased Smith has been continued with and great to see Hannan come in

  9. I think we need to stick with Smith. Besides from 2 errors I think he was ok.  Lets see how he looks after he strings a few games together.

Also think we need to get Weideman in and give him a run of games.

    In: Weideman, Pickett

Out: ANB, Hunt (Both stiff but cant see us dropping Jones just yet)

Be good to see Hannan and AVB in the side soon also.

Did I hear Jimmy Bartel in the commentary say that he met Rhys Stanley and his wife at the Moriac store this week, before their baby was born?.......covid lockdown rules?

I think you only break covid lockdown rules if you self report  #honesty system

  11. Not that I watched much of last night but it was refreshing to not hear Cameron Ling on the commentary team for a Geelong game.

I do feel a little for channel 7 - most of the best media guys choose Foxtel

i find it interesting that Hawthorn is playing its first game in Geelong in something like 14 years. strange how we seem to play there every year and they don't.. i wonder how many other such anomalies apply where some clubs avoid Geelong, interstate trips, etc..

I believe the Bombers havent played at Geelong since 1993. Collingwood probably similar. The game has become about the money and these sort of things just go on without issue. Is what it is as they say.
