  1. There are plenty of so called experts who know jack s**t about the game despite presenting themselves as knowledgeable. I think thereā€™s a description for it, Expert fallacy. Because someone is an ā€œexpertā€ their view or opinion is somehow more authoritative. Ex-players, commentators, journalists and coaches talk a fair amount of dribble. ClichĆ©s and banalities. Insulting our intelligence most of the time. Seriously, I donā€™t think Iā€™ve heard Goodwin say one intelligent thing during his press conferences. Clarkson on the other hand.. There are plenty of posters on this site that know more about footy than the so called experts (thereā€™s a fair bit of nonsense to wade through as well though) and whose opinion I respect far more. Please continue to post your considered and logical comments axis.

McAvaney got on my nerves throughout. His hyperventilating when danger scored that goal nearly made me spew!

Geelong hanging around. they could snatch this game.
  4. He had plenty of heart and gave his all but footy wise he was a liability. Iā€™m delighted heā€™s doing well because heā€™s a very likeable character but moving on average players for a 2nd rounder is very good business imv. By and large weā€™ve been making good list management decisions. Trading Frost was not a mistake.
  5. Maybe Clarkson has run out of ideas but Goodwin definitely has. In fact i'm not sure he's had any good ideas in 4 years. What we do know is with a quality list Clarkson can deliver. What I expect from Clarkson is man management to get the best out of the group of players we have. We donā€™t need a tactical genius just get the basics right, such as midfield and forward step-up. Cut out these lapses in concentration and application. I think Clarkson can do that, motivate and lead the players and bring some belief into the club as someone who has been there and done that. If he's available and excited by the prospect to coach our group then he should be number 1 on our list to replace Goodwin.
  6. Jesse needs to get out of Perth. He made a mistake heading back there. Itā€™s too much of a fishbowl. I suggest the club get onto his manager to discuss how to get him back to his rightful footy home, the MFC!
  7. Burgess is top drawer. Heā€™s worked for Liverpool and Arsenal and turned down offers from the US. We did very well to lure to the club but thereā€™s no way we hold onto him for long. With soft cap constraints we canā€™t afford him and I wouldnā€™t be surprised if he takes up another overseas appointment. Hopefully we can keep him for another 12 months with a view to him setting up our long-term fitness program and mentoring his successor. Iā€™d hate to lose him to another AFL team.
  8. Someone from the club, a friend, an ex-teammate, someone he trusts, needs to get to that hospital and try to talk some sense into him and figure out a way to get him back to his family. But if he has his mind set on a bender then I donā€™t know where this will finish up.

West Coast have been at the top for a while. Their fondness for the good life doesn't appear to impact their onfield performance.

    because they're drunk and high
  11. Iā€™m far from impressed with how this bloke has conducted himself. Heā€™s shown his true colours imv. Heā€™s fed us a bull crap story about why he left the hub. Hasnā€™t the decency to face the club to explain himself. We gave him an opportunity, got him fit and back on the paddock and all we have to show for it is a $50k fine (a support salary). I donā€™t know whether not being offered a contract led to this behaviour but its no excuse. Well done to the medical team. We have many inadequacies in the club but it looks like weā€™re elite in one area at least.
  12. If he slots the goals who cares about the run-up?
  13. A superb effort this year. He has shown a level of professionalism I did not think he possessed. We shouldnā€™t underestimate the effort and hard work required to get into the physical condition he achieved. He has improved every aspect of his game. We could not have asked for more in terms of professionalism, dedication and commitment. Christian has led by example this year. I hope the club match his level of ambition and make the changes needed this off-season to ensure the potential of our list is fully realised.

The footy Gods smiled on us when St Kilda picked McCartin rather than Petracca. Letā€™s not tempt fate.

Dimitar Berbatov. Thatā€™s exactly who I think of whenever someone is described as laconic. Somewhere along the line people have mistook laconic for laidback. Not sure when but its been going on for a while now and particularly by commentators in the EPL.
  16. Heā€™s gettable and would solve a need but of the realistic options Saad is preferable for mine. If we target anyone at the pies it should be Daicos. Long shot I know but if cap space is so tight for them you never know! We could get lucky.
  17. I didnā€™t pay enough attention when we recruited him tbh but if this is his level of output then itā€™s a black mark against our recruitment team for sure.

Looks like a win win trade to me.

Daisy Pearce shows these three up every week. They should put her on the selection panel!

Well done Trac. B&F and AA. Fantastic season.
  21. Melksham Fritch AVB have had their performances rightly panned this season but Tomlinson has slipped under the radar. Heā€™s been a major disappointment. 5 years at $500k is a big investment. I want to see a lot more from him next year. I suggest heā€™s paired with Steven May this pre-season so he can learn how to turn a bad first season into a successful second.

Tomlinson, weid and Jackson can pinch hit. Not sure where Bradtke is at. I think this is the year to trade him to maximise the return. Giants and Swans are pretty desperate for a ruckman and Pruess is by far the best back-up in the comp. they donā€™t grow on trees so Iā€™d drive a hard bargain. Swans have pick 22. Iā€™d aim for that.

Beautiful kick and much loved character. Didnā€™t have the temperament of professionalism to optimise his undoubted talent but 174 games is still an outstanding effort. Will always be welcome at the footy club. Thanks for the memories and best of luck in retirement Jack.
  24. Why should any capable, sought after, ambition footballer hang around Melbourne in the hope that the club will become successful. In a short career weā€™ve just wasted 2 years of their time. Weā€™re a middling, mid ranked club. Our coach is second rate. Weā€™ve completely and utterly failed to build on our great run to the prelim in 2018 (it was a fluke, a mirage). All the momentum from that run was killed stone dead by the abomination that was 2019. Some improvement this year but nothing to suggest weā€™re building something lasting. Nothing to suggest weā€™re building towards a flag or top 4. Seriously, who here is confident weā€™ll even play finals next year. If Iā€™m Jack Viney, Iā€™m seriously considering Geelongā€™s offer. Heā€™s done his bit for this club. Go play for a team that offers finals footy, a great lifestyle for his young family in a footy mad town. I wouldnā€™t blame him if he decides to go. Oliver. He could play in midfield for Richmond or another top club. I think heā€™d be mad to sign a new contract with us this off season. If the club are serious about success they would bring in a new coach to bring instil some hope and optimism into this group of players. Player retention ā€“ another reason to get rid of Goodwin.
  25. I think heā€™s a very good option. Strong mark and an accurate kick. And heā€™s still only 27. I think heā€™s worth a second rounder. Not sure how much coin heā€™d demand but if we can move Tmac on then he would be a definite upgrade.
