Does McDonald go back?
No Petty is next in line. Trained in the role so will know the system. He'll have Lever and May to help him settle. Now is his time. I reckon he'll be ok TMac has been great up forward so leave him there. Weid only plays if Fritta's suspension is upheld.

Excited?
Have you never heard of MFCSS? Only known cure is a flag.

Bayley Fritsch cleared of striking
Right call to challenge. I happen to think that it is medium impact but the MRO has set a precedent with the Danger and other incidents so i don't see why Fritta cops a week but the others don't. I want fairness and consistency. It has to be over-turned. If it isn't I'll be very interested to see what kind of mental gymnastics the appeals board perform to distinguish the Danger and Fritta incidents.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
I say we need to fight the MRO decision hard and get Fritta's suspension overturned. It's too big an ask to have the Weid and BB trying to find form at the same time. Sparrow for Viney and Petty for Tomlinson the only changes. TMac forward and Gus back to the wing. Personnel won't matter if we don;t get back to our contested pressure game. Spargs and Nibbler in particular need to lift but Max and the midfield unit have to be switched on from the get-go as well.

Bayley Fritsch cleared of striking
I haven't read through the thread so apologies if mentioned already. On the couch last night showed a side by side of the Dangerfield and Fritta incidents. They looked practically identical. Danger got off. My initial view was we should cop the week and move on but after that seeing that comparison we have to challenge.

The Paddy McCartin Thread
That was some haymaker he threw. Thuggish behavior that needs to be dealt with in the severest possible terms. No excuse for that whatsoever. No one expects to be assaulted like that on the field. Disgraceful.

My Round 8 Preview and Prediction
If we produce the same level of performance as we did against North we lose this game. Buddy, Papley and Heeney are the danger men. If we can limit their influence we will go a long way to subduing the Swans. Hopefully the first half v North was just an aberration, we’ve got it out of our system and can now return to the tough, contested, pressure based game plan that got us to Top of the ladder in the first place. Petty to slot into the defensive unit seamlessly. Sparrow into the midfield. The Weid comes in for Fritta. Very different dynamic up top but hopefully it’ll work. Sydney defenders aren’t world beaters. Out mark them and slot our set-shots. BB to find separation this week (and umpires pay frees if defenders are trying to piggy back ride) and slot a few. Spargo and Nibbler to rediscover their pressure games. The real Max Gawn to show up. Gus back to the wing where he’s been solid for us this year. That first half last week has me really spooked. My MFCSS has returned with a vengeance so I don’t know which way this will go. All depends on which Melbourne shows up.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
Petty to replace Thommo. He is next in line and has trained for this role. TMac goes forward to partner BB Sparrow comes in for Viney. Not sure about Harmes, sounds like he was well off the pace in the VFL. Baker goes back to being emergency. See how Jones pulls up. Might be time to manage him. Preference is keep him in as I don't want too many changes. Weid comes in for Fritta if he is rubbed out. If Fritta cleared to play then the Weid will have to bide his time. BB needs game time to find his form. Whats the point in dropping our boom recruit, our spearhead, after one game? And we did kick our highest goal tally of the year.

2021 Injury List
I would be very surprised if Darren Burgess hasn't considered this. He's the best in the business so surely something as obvious as customised footwear has not been over-looked. Looks like this hot spot was picked up as part of regular scanning which means a quicker recovery. I'm sure Burgo is keeping a close eye on Jack and will manage him in line with best practice. In Burgo I trust.

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
I’ve learnt a few things today 1. Never get ahead of yourself when it comes to the Dees 2. Never underestimate North in Hobart 3. How percentage works Over and out

Max just had an off day. He dropped marks and fumbled the ball around the ground as well.

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
Ah. I understand you now. It gets progressively more difficult to increase / decrease percentage as the denominator and numerator numbers get bigger. The overall points differential between 150 / 100 (Game 1) is much lower than say 1500 / 1000 (Game 10) even though both are the same percentage – 150% Winning Game 2 by say 100 - 50 increases overall points for and against to 250 / 150 meaning a percentage of 167%. Winning Game 11 by the same margin increases points for an against to 1600 / 1050 which results in a percentage of 152%. The winning margin in both instants is the same but the proportional increase in percentage is different being 17% v 2%.

open a spreadsheet and start running the numbers SWYL. As long as the margin is a consistent 150% points scored for or against doesn't matter.

Does McDonald go back?
Petty comes in for Thommo. no question in my mind at all Brown showed it will take a couple of games to get up to speed. Too risking to bring in the Weid and having both KPFs trying to find form.

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
Not sure how the coach’s go about reviewing that game. Hopefully that first half was just an aberration and it will be normal service resumed next week against the Swans. Jackson immense in the second half. Fritsch’s kicking is all sorted, Kozzie excellent. Petracca didn’t play badly imv and was the only one showing any urgency in the first half. Set shot kicking let him down and some rash decisions at times in the second half. Jordon slotted his goal at a crucial time. He showed real composure. Langdon was steady. Lever and May ok down back. TMac did a good job filling in for Thommo but he needs to play forward next week. Oliver worked his way into the game. Shockers for Gawn, Gus, Nibbler. Hopefully they can just forget about today, put it out of their mind and come back stronger next week. Horrible luck for Thommo. He’s been brilliant for us. Petty to come in and hopefully fill the gap.

Why does anyone care whether the commentators want us to win or not. To hell with them

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
I think our devious plan all along was to play North into form so they can beat the pies next week. I hope we succeeded.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
Petty for Thommo. We need TMac forward where he's been very good for us this year. Both Melks (other than 1 kick to Brown) and Baker very ineffective. I think i'd give Baker another game to see if he can find form. It's just too hard to justify carrying Melks. Jones needs the rest so sparrow in for him.
