  1. thanks, cam, but the coaches are redleg and WJ... (I have never done it - no talent)... sainters have now agreed to the 4-way round robin, but I can't confirm the pies yet because I have not yet been able to talk to them on the phone... will keep trying... and we may have venue problems... cheers, rollo
  2. gees, rollo... we all love and appreciate your efforts... (posted by rollo late on a discouraging night, knowing it summarises the collective love you bastards feel but can't express)...
  3. not posting for any other reason than the fact that you guys are fractionally more reasonable and rational than the people we are trying to play on november 8... the sainters have developed an unexplained objection to the round robin, the pies don't seem to have an organiser for these events, and the blues are organising full-steam ahead on the basis that this is all happening... (rollo will have no hair left by november 8)... summary - we will be playing the blues on november 8, god knows where, when, and who else may join the party... (17 expletives studiously deleted from above text)...
  4. hoping for a 4-way contest on November 8... majority of leadership group now in favour... still don't know who, where, what time, but lock in the date... I will keep working on the other sites' organisers... rollo
  5. never enough numbers, wh... especially if it is giong to be a 3 or 4 way contest... watch out for the game thread...
  6. never been a spark of interest from the club before, guys... can't see that changing, but do your worst !! leadership group now 5-0 in favour of November 8, but I will not start up the game organisation thread yet... the other sites are in disarray, so I don't know who we are playing, where we are playing or when we are playing at this stage... but it is safe to pen in the date of November 8 in your calendars... sorry for you guys who have to miss out, but there will be a february 2010 fixture... regards, rollo
  7. sorry to hear that, mick... but leadership group now 4-0 in favour of playing on November 8... (must have heard that you were unavailable)...
  8. hey, mick... this "unavailability" thing is starting to become a habit... can't you change your plans this far ahead ?? hey, doggo... that's a few kilos a week, starting NOW !!
  9. early "leadership" voting is 2-0 in favour of november 8... with wise crying in the background... seems to me it's november 8, or wait until next year... watch this space...
  10. thanks for the offer, brett, but we have been very happy with the amateur umpires who have helped us out in recent games... are you up for goal umpiring ?? sorry, benno, but the saturday/sunday debate was put to bed years ago... our "leadership group" consists of pringle, wolfmother, whispering jack, funky41, melbournefc, wise, tassie dee, redleg + hards... Talkingcarlton + saintsational have proposed round robin forum footy matches on Sunday, November 8 – each game 2 X 15 minute quarters – each team plays the other 2 teams once. Downside is that wise is not available, but there are no other viable dates this year... If a majority of the leadership group pm"s a “yes” to me, I will set up the team thread on demonland. Regards, Peter Connor (aka rollo)
  11. hey, mp... we are a tiny bit more organised than that... the "leadership group" agrees to a date, and then we put together the team in a thread on here... once you commit to play, you need a good excuse to back out... we usually play at gosch's paddock, just past the collingwood training ground off punt road... waiting on a date from the sainters as we speak...
  12. thank god for short memory spans !! sainters say thay want to play us in November... only bluff and bluster from the blues so far, but I have not connected with their forum footy organisers yet, will see if they want an October match... watch this space...
  13. sorry to hear that, dt... hope your road to recovery does not take as long to travel as rivvo's...
  14. looking forward to seeing you guys in action again... I will sound out the saints and the blues, but I don't know if they are anxious to play us again any time soon... btw, rivvo's knee is on the mend, but he has hung up his boots... but he's offerred to help out at games...
  15. dunno, mate... but if you are like me, your reply to requests for charitable donations is "sorry, but I am fully committed to my favourite charities"... lindsay fox is richer than us, but his generosity has got to have limits... when the saints' season ends, I am going to do everything I can to bring about a testimonial match (confirmed today that Carl never had one at either club) to raise $ for the legal defence... unless somebody comes up with a better idea...
  16. yeah, well, wj, all the blustering seems to come from our side, but all the real support seems to come from the st.kilda footy club... when the saints' current season comes to an end, I will be suggesting that we do what we can to bring about a testimonial match for Carl ( he has never had one) between the dees and the saints to raise $ for the legal defence... maybe the support match could be demonland/demonology v. saintsational ?? why should lindsay fox foot the bill on his own ?? I would be ashamed if melbourne people did not have a hand in helping Carl to fight this litigation... he gave us so much, we owe him...
  17. sorry to have to miss, WJ, but I am off to see the ashes... have fun...
  18. when carl left the dees, he left his footy life behind, I think, and got on with his real life... in those days, footy at the highest level was just a passing and part-time thing... times have changed... I read recently that st.kilda premiership player verdun howell was intending to auction his brownlow medal... to put some food on his family's table... yes, times have changed...
  19. heard from the great man tonight... things are happening on his (very large) legal problem, and he want us to know that he is very grateful for our support, ideas and assistance... long way to go but...
  20. jees, ht, I cannot remember, and the poster on the other side of the bet has not been heard from for years... but I think it is worth doing anyway...
  21. it all started with derryn hinch photographed wearing the famous 31 standing on the great wall in china... the tradition continues... somebody should tell the aussie press (for I shall not, my only intention being to confuse and confound the old enemy)... carl ditterich is involved in a complex and difficult legal situation, but there may still be a role for us (those of us who remember him) to play...
  22. to honour a bet made 5 years ago... I will be wearing a melbourne jumper at the edgsbaston test... morning, first day... go dees !!
  23. hey, DT... there will be no games until the end of the real footy season...
