Has a strained calf. Did it doing extra work before the preseason officially started. Not a bloke you would need to worry about IMO.
-
Drove past at 9.30am and they were all already out there. Think we take it as gospel that 10.30am club time = 9.30am actual time.
-
Yes, I'm sure we drafted this highly rated player, who we were surprised was still available, as a "soothing goat" rather than because he's a great kick across half back (where our turnovers were famous this year). People convince themselves of some strange things here sometimes.
-
Think you've taken that the wrong way mate. Can see how that could happen when it's just in text form though.
-
Yep, well done mate, you nailed it!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON

Fixed. -
That's where the "live" element could potentially work in our favour. Fingers crossed.
-
All depends on specific targets though. If we can get the same player with pick 14 that we would have chosen with 10 it seems a no-brainer.

Speaking to AFL.com.au's Draft Night Countdown on Wednesday, Geelong list manager Stephen Wells replied in the affirmative when asked if he would be willing to part with some of his prized selections to move up the order in a bid to land defender Fischer McAsey. "Yeah we would. Not just Fischer, but any of the players really that we think are top-10 players," Wells said. "We're looking to improve our position in the draft but we're not willing to give up the farm to do it, so to speak. Cats put first-round picks on the table to move up draft order

Interesting hearing Brendan McCartney in his draft-related article today talking about things he looks for in players, wondered if this may potentially relate to how we see Pickett: For different reasons, neither Bontempelli nor Oliver was talked up as a top pick midway through his draft year. “Bonti” wasn’t always in the game, but when he was you just thought “wow”. -

I might be getting confused here, so apologies if so, but by the info here those numbers are incorrect. Are the 'champs' and the U18 carnival the same thing? If so then it's: Weightman: 4 games, 9 goals, 2 score assists (totals), 2 tackles, 11 disposals (average). Source Pickett: 3 games, 2 goals, 3 score assists (totals), 2.7 tackles, 13.7 disposals (average). Source -
Not doubting your info, but by my info there's no chance Green goes outside the top 5-6 picks.

In the last couple of days a couple of media places ave said Geelong have cooled on trading their picks with the Dees too. -
Yeah my selection is probably more hope than reality. Get the feeling we'll only get one out of Weightman and Pickett.
-
While I agree we don't need more inside mids, the general consensus among recruiters is you draft for talent at the top end, and if he's rated as the best player available then the Dees will take him.

No single type of player 'wins you a premiership', and you can't single out players and their premiership totals and then try to talk 'context'. How many flags did Cyril win? How many has Daniel Rioli won? What about even going back to Stevie J? Silly to cherry pick players out when talking about a specific role in a team. You also realize Cameron was traded for pick 12 yeah? A team wins a premiership. Within the team is the right mix of roles. The small forward role is currently a massive weakness of ours, so "in the context" of the Melbourne Demons trying to win a flag from 2020 and beyond then you know what? A small forward just might win us a premiership 'in that context'.- 966 replies

No idea TBH, I haven't followed the potential draftees closely this year so only going on things I've been told. We do all sometimes get a bit sucked in by mock drafts though and generally there's at least a few players who go in very different orders to predicted.
-
I'm no expert or insider so only guessing, but from what I've heard I wouldn't be surprised to see him go outside the top 10.
-
Thanks mate, really appreciate your insights from watching/being involved with juniors.
-
I'm happy either way tbh. I was told the Dees rated Green as the best player in the draft, but could see the logic in going for something other than an inside mid.
-
Just things I've heard, and I'm just a mug punter so don't take it as gospel, but there's apparently some knocks on the physical side of his game. Exceptionally skilled of course, which may seem him still valued highly, but potentially could slide.
-
100% we will call Green's name at pick 3. Will then depend on GWS, but it's 50/50 as they are also keen on Jackson. You won't hear us calling out Young's name though, unless he slides as far as 28, but not likely.
-
We won't be taking Young, and I think people may be surprised by where he potentially ends up being picked.
-
I'm probably the odd one out on Demonland currently, but I'm not as enthusiastic as most about Petty forward. Hope he goes well though.
