I think this too. We are in need of a key forward and we have one that played his junior footy as one. Not saying we put the ruck development on ice but maybe have him play 80/20 forward and only give Max the chop out when he’s on the bench.

The mistake was that long loopy handball from Oliver to Sparrow. 2nd mistake was Sparrow handballing it to Gawn. 3rd mistake was Gawn not being able to hand ball through one player. I mean you cannot make this crap up. Oliver had to turn and break through the traffic or give it to Viney on the inside.

Tell me about it. Tommo was the obvious matchup here . Just cannot understand why you wouldn’t keep him in and instead back Turner in a game that was so important in a number of ways. Could have bought in Turner against the Crows.

This is not about loading. Our pressure has been down for almost the entire season. We are 17th in the comp! Chew on that for a moment. Only Essendon are worse. You fix that and it is fixable, then we may have our season back, but don’t think for a moment we will win a final let alone a GF with that effort.

I like a small forward line but with our ball movement this is a death wish. If we spread like wild fire from turnover then it may work but slow transition will make it near impossible to score.

Left field idea. Move Trac to the forward line and Brayshaw inside. If Goodwin is all about reward performance then he has to look at Tracs form in the middle. It is well below par. Brayshaw on the other hand has been in the top 3-4 players for the last month.

This is indeed worrying . It’s like sacred ground and teams have no worry going through it. FWIW the sheer balls and skill required and how many teams seem to pull it off is amazing.

I get where you are coming from but people need to vent. I ride the wave of emotion like many on here so absolutely understand where they are coming from too. I say, let them say anything they want within reason and move on - I hold no grudges or take anything too seriously.

We take zero risk and as a result we are slow and predictable. We used to have some dare and exploded off turnover but once we push out the lead we just drop back a gear and try to defend. It’s so frustrating to watch what is so blatantly obvious but we know how stubborn Goodwin is with the game plan.

We would have still lost had May been in there. The team is not running and out hunting like last year. We are near the bottom of the ladder on team pressure and it is now telling when a mid table team beats us. We will struggle to win many more games this year if we don’t get this back. It is the one thing we can fix easily without form. However, I’m most disappointed at the response. I was expecting something special and finals like and yet bar from a few it was insipid and embarrassing.

GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Gawndy the Great replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Where has our energy gone? Last year we would run over teams and have some in store. Every team hunts us around the packs and outnumber us in the contest, forward and backline and we look flat and uninterested. Maybe the belly is full? We lose this and we fall back to the pack. Our game plan looks sketchy and our execution is slow and predictable. -

I was expecting a much more manic Melbourne around the ball. Pies look to be taking a page out of the Swans book. We are lucky to be in front. -
Makes you think.

It’s not Noble. Well not entirely. The team has no culture and is devoid of leadership. They lack effort and intensity. The first thing any replacement coach would want to do is clean up the list again. If Noble does go, I hope Yze doesn’t put his hat in the ring there. The Norf situation is only territory for successful coaches who know how to rebuild an entire club. Only coach I know that has the creds is Clarko.

We will murder the filth on Monday.
Gawndy the Great replied to Lou C. Fur's topic in Melbourne Demons
The intensity we need to bring should be comparable to what we delivered in the PF & GF games. Nothing less. We have a week to recover so nothing short of sustained pressure over 4Q is a pass, especially given the slander and negative press the club has been exposed to. If we can bring that, then i would agree with the OP. However, do not underestimate the intensity the Pies will bring. They will be playing high on confidence, they will be expecting a response so they will be ready. Challenge is to blow them out of the water early and put them on the back foot and questioning themselves. First quarter will decide the game. -
The suspension was for drinking when he shouldn’t have been. Seems to be a pattern of behaviour but agree it will likely not change. Simple solution is to make sure he stays fit so we can avoid breaking this rule once again.

I am less concerned than I was previously. The ‘banter’ was in ill taste but it wasn’t as vulgar as what the media has made it out to be. Why let the truth get in the way of a good story? The violence is the only issue I have with it. They had a few, made a bad decision and are now sorry for it. I’m sure similar scuffles can happen on the training track as well.

If that’s what was said then this thing has been the biggest beat up yet. Yes there was a fight but all that nonsense about finals creates a fracture/division in the playing group etc is BS. The only thing was the brawl and that was dealt with swiftly. Sounds like they didn’t even get to eat. They probably should have had a Mars bar on arrival to settle the hanger.

My thoughts exactly. Hope Caroline is there in person.

A lot of players have to be on notice inc BBB, Sparrow & Spargo. As long as our forward line brings the ball to ground and the smalls hit the packs we should at least get some forward turnover goals. This was the main thing missing last week - something like 5 pts from turnovers the whole game when our whole game is about scores from turnovers shows how off the midfield and forwards were.
