The competition is always tough - I am starting to think we have peaked and while still in the window are most definitely on the way down. May and Gawn are a shadow of themselves and while I cannot imagine it, the end of their careers is at most 1-2 seasons a way. Also, Based on performances this year against similar quality teams, Trac and Oliver can really no longer lay claim as the best 1,2 combo in the AFL either. I may be proven wrong and boy I hope I bloody am but If the potential is still their and the desire still burns hot then they can show everybody by going 4-0 in the next month. I doubt they can, but to me that’s what it’s going to take to change my mind.

I think you miss the point. It’s not that we just lost by 4 pts, it’s we lost playing a poor brand for 3 quarters and made to look 2nd rate. It’s a brand that many know deep down won’t cut it in September. That’s why I’m seething. When the Pies put everything on the line they continually find a way - it’s not a coincidence that they have won so many close games- their method holds up and we have seen It time and time again for 18 months. The game plan still looks suspect and now teams have not only worked us out defensively but are now working on our stoppage and midfield game.

Record vs Top 8
Not good. inly thing that’ll change my mind is going 4-0 in the next 4. But we are likely to go 1-3. 2-2 at best.

The Trent Rivers appreciation thread
Putting together a solid season. Very impressive out of defensive half.

You are right, but we don’t have the cattle to play that brand. 80% of our side can’t hit a target under pressure and the 20% who can can’t win a ground ball. Our side is built for contest, stoppage and defence. It will be until we turn the list over by about 50%. So expect much of the same. What we need to do with our list as Power is similar is the forward half game. 76 of 80 Powers’ points came from forward half turn over or stoppage. While most of ours come from defensive half. It’s hard to win games like that and it all boils down to effort. It’s been plain to see for weeks now. We are not working hard enough.

Oh but the umpires were terrible. We didn’t deserve the win but the umpires made sure we didn’t. There were about 3-4 goals in total from frees of which 1-2 were genuine. How Lever didn’t get a double 50? There were about 3 front on contacts missed when Frotta gets pinged for contested a 50/50 ball. It is just amateur hour with umpires and the game is largely becoming unwatchable.

I don’t think it’s Yze. Trac towelled up by Rowell, now JHF is doing a number on him. His got to get off his high horse and put in the defensive effort. Our whole midfield have no defensive accountability- they play dumb and selfish all sitting off forward side of the contest waiting for the cheapy. I said this game will tell us a lot and it is damning. And can we maybe do something about groundballs?
