  1. Well yes, I forgot about them. Of course they do, but I don't go to Perth games. I was thinking more of the experience at home.
  2. Well, who told them that was ever going to work? I watched it on TV and all I heard all game was a constant booing from the ferals. Even when a Melbourne player took a clean mark and was lining up for a goal the boos and jeers were relentless. They really are some of the most obnoxious supporters. And I heard from friends at the ground they gave Melbourne supporters a hard time during the game and walking out after. You can't even barrack for your own team now without some opposition supporter having a go at you or glaring at you. Really, going to the football is getting less enjoyable now. I know I've said this before, but it feels true. Something is off.
  3. I'm convinced Salem was not right after that incident. Plus he looked hampered by that huge dressing they wrapped around his head.
  4. Max - Superb Supreme Sublime
  5. Marty can take it! He's a big boy. He can hold his head high. He's been consistent in his efforts.
  6. Frost went off in the first quarter with concussion and Salem was injured in the same incident. I'm not sure he was right for the rest of the game either. He didn't play his usual game and he had a heavy bandage around his head. Concussion as well??
  7. When I watch the game I try to block my ears because the commentators talk so much drivel now.
  8. Their collective vocabulary is limited to the word "Booo". That is all I heard all day.
  9. I hate handballs to nowhere.
  10. Don't kick it to Spargo for goodness sake. And we've lost Frosty.
  11. Good vision Petracca. Keep it up.
  12. This supporter made a serious error if he called the umpire a bald headed pouf. According to Dictionary.com, a pouf is a high headdress with the hair rolled in puffs. Tsk, tsk. I don't know what has become of the English language nowadays. What do they teach in schools??‍♀️
  13. I only came here to see what the fuss was all about. Conclusion? Ho hum.
  14. I don't think Goodes was only focusing on what happened over 200 years ago. He and his people have endured disadvantage and subtle or overt racism in their every day lives. Wasn't Eddie Betts targeted by trolls only recently this year? Some things haven't changed for indigenous people, no matter how much the rest of society would like to think it doesn't happen. We cannot keep denying other people's reality simply because we haven't experienced it, or witnessed it ourselves.
  15. It is 2019 and everyone in Australia is still grappling with reconciliation. Politicians certainly don't seem to have the answers. We should not condemn Goodes for also not being able to come up with the magic bullet.
  16. Well done Ash. This is quite a moment in history for Australian tennis. All done without a tantrum in sight. She is a delightful and humble winner. She is a quiet achiever and deserves all the accolades coming her way.
  17. Thanks for posting Goodes' speech. Sounds quite gracious to me, after all he has experienced. Even wishes everyone a great Australia Day. (Something others are currently campaigning to get rid of.) What part of it did people find so offensive and confronting? Makes you wonder what some people can read into things.
  18. Is Dangerfield the spokesman for the AFL is he? What job is he after? What a crock of s*&t. They will never truly understand. Too little, too late. This sounds so patronizing. Wouldn't blame Goodes if he ignored the so called apology and didn't acknowledge it.
  19. I think it is the same with entertainers who dare to voice a political opinion or air a concern about the environment. How dare they say anything apart from singing songs or acting in films! But aren't they citizens just like the rest of us who must live in this world? Aren't they entitled to live the life they wish to have without everyone telling them their rights don't count, simply because of the path they have chosen? It's as though they are not real people, merely holograms who should stay in their place. Adam Goodes spoke the uncomfortable truth, according to his experience, and people didn't like hearing it, because it made them uncomfortable. What's worse, some people denied his reality. The most disrespectful thing you can do, is to tell someone how they feel, or how they should feel, without knowing what that person has experienced or is experiencing. We need to be reminded of the old saying- Walk a mile in my shoes.
  20. I wish Sam all the best and look forward to seeing him playing well, as we all know he can. A fine young man who should not have carried the burden on himself over his contract (or a missed shot). Now it's all done let's see him shine. Onwards and upwards Sam!
  21. This is too hard a task, because it is all a matter of opinion. Perhaps we should nominate our FAVOURITE MFC team of the last 50 years. We all have our great memories of past times, and why we like certain players. Some of us may have had the chance to meet them personally and by doing so, they became our favourites, not only because they were good players, but champion people. Then of course we had the characters, the individuals, who brought colour to the game. And yes, football was enjoyable, seeing these players in their prime. The lack of ultimate success is sad, but there were some good memories amid the gloom. Plus we all made some good friends along the way with fellow sufferers, sorry, supporters. ?
  22. I read an article by Jon Ralph today in the Herald Sun where he actually criticized (shock!) the AFL for not spending the money on this to get it right, instead of worrying about a new logo and what happened in the 1880's. He thought they were let off the hook about the stuff ups which happened last weekend by everyone getting side tracked by the Malthouse/Buckley feud and other controversies (can't remember what they were precisely, but you know what they say about yesterday's news lining the budgie's cage). These other silly issues take the heat off the AFL when they should be under the pump about the serious failings of this so called review system which is not working. We can all see it!! Get it fixed AFL.
  23. One would hope so, but do they? In an ideal world, but we don't live in one. I'm not accusing anybody, but sometimes things can get out of your own control, and before you realize it, there is a problem. Especially when you are young.
  24. What a real shame to hear about the massive pressure on Sam with all the talk about his contract. Why did it have to drag on and cause him ill effects mentally? It should not have played out that way. If his manager allowed this to happen to try and get a bigger deal, it was doing the young man a great disservice. Now he has signed on I hope he can finally concentrate on his football and relax more with peace of mind. Good luck Sam.
  25. He should resign immediately! That is a hazardous job for someone after undergoing shoulder surgery. Causes repetitive strain injury. Don't want Clarrie on the injury list as well.
