Like the Gus situation the consensus between the parties here could just lie in the new bargaining agreement that is due to drop soon and what the numbers on a long term contract might look like to help keep most or all of the current squad on our books.

What they are saying at Bomberland
Rab D Nesbitt replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
For any of us that for so long had to hang our hat on that one measly win at Windy Hill where Billy Bennett went nuts isn't it a delight to see their fans so demoralised at the thought of facing us this week. I hope we don't let them down. -
Hi Tincan. The buy one get one free memberships were mentioned further up on this thread. I agree that there is nothing wrong with having an option to buy three game memberships for the very reason you mention. My point related to the relevance of the actual membership tally if we're flogging free memberships just to make the numbers look good. We could end up with 70,000 members, perhaps 40k that are full home & away, 20k that are three game memberships and another 10k free memberships, for argument sake. If we had to go to the bank for a loan (thankfully we don't) and they wanted to see what collateral we had they will ask how much money we made from our season ticket sales, not how many members we have.

Hi AJ. I'm not sure that every other club doing it is a valid reason. I don't see much point in announcing we have 60,000 members for example if 10,000 of them were given away free although it probably explains why GWS are supposed to have 30,000 members when their ground is always empty on tv.

Is there any point updating our membership tally going forward when they're all going to be of the Mickey Mouse 3 game buy one get one free variety? Surely the only metric that matters is how much actual $$$ we rake in at seasons end.

Godfather offer from Geelong?

I'm taking comfort in the thought that St Kilda won't play this well again for the rest of the season.

Him and his brother Russell are both in their late 70's and still touring Mazer. Edgar Wright (Sean of the Dead) did a big doco on them last year .

I hope Dogga is watching this.

Max King looks like the weird keyboard player Ron Mael from the band Sparks.

Hi SD. I only wrote it as a play on WC and toilet. I agree with you that they're not totally out of the finals picture but losing two of their most winnable games first up will make it very difficult.

Sunday graveyard slot and a 2/3 empty MCG. Looks like the Tiger Army are in full retreat.

Weeds is now a shadow of the shadow of a player he used to be.

WC's season looks to be well and truly down the toilet.

Hi BAMF. If it was then the other 50% were probably curious locals that got free tickets with the happy meals they bought during the week. On more than one occasion the commentators mentioned decisions that weren't popular with the home crowd to the sound of four people booing in the background.
-
For their first home game of the year against the reigning premiers after a big road win it was another pitiful crowd at Metricon. No wonder they never include the attendance figure in any match reports up there.

Did what we needed to when we had to. GC will beat plenty of sides that aren't as good as us this year.

Brisbane not fantastic but with enough nous to keep Essendon at arms reach so far.

Commentators salivating over the suspect package already.

Looks like Collingwood have thrown down the challenge to Carlton to be March premiers. The juggernauts that they are.

It has taken 40 years to get a core of around 25k to turn up every second week at the SCG to watch Sydney play. An implant team sprinkled with marquee signings funded in part by the COLA allowance to help keep the turnstiles rotating. I don't know whether the talk of grassroots development is true or just AFL hype but from afar GCS look to be no more than a plastic franchise representing an apathetic market in a cultural wasteland.

GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast Suns
Rab D Nesbitt replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Recent history suggests that the Suns are always up and about early in the season. A potential banana skin if we're not switched on throughout I think. Looking forward to see how our new look backline perform for a second week.- 680 replies

Is there a curfew time for sporting events to be finished by at the SCG?

The entire Sydney side will be out with covid next week.
