  1. Thanks for the heads up longsuffering. I better get on the dog & bone to them first thing Monday then.
  2. An increase in the radius to 10km will allow me to visit the Whitten Oval for some Sunday morning exercise in my Dees beanie. Followed by a warm down walk around the leafy streets of Footscray and Seddon with a coffee from Rudimentary and a top up at Common Galaxia. That reminds me, Advieh have just painted their frontage red, white & blue so I'll have to stop by for a take away halloumi wrap for lunch.
  3. That's hilarious WCW. For some reason there is a general shortage of red balloons. I thought I had it sorted with a delivery from K-Mart as their site said they were available, only to find out they had none and had to source them so now my delivery will be split into two. I then organised a delivery with Spotlight which hasn't left the building yet and I've heard nothing from Lombard about the flag I ordered. I'd collect them all myself if they were within 5km.
  4. Personally I'm happy with the two week pre GF break as the flag and balloons I ordered a week ago for the front of the house still haven't been despatched.
  5. Just had a look online Faulty. The Clapham Grand is showing it on a big screen as is Jetlag Bar in Fitzrovia.
  6. I think in the SPFL anyone that plays 10 games or more receives a league winners medal. Assuming they played them all with Rangers of course 😄 Introducing a similar rule in the AFL would stop a lot of angst about who does / doesn't make the final 22 on GF day.
  7. If the guy is out of contract then he's not going to sign on for 1 year. Maybe he's our modern day David Cordner. Either way, if his AFL career doesn't pan out he could always give suburban cricket a try.
  8. Only fair that the Dogs get all the pre GF media attention when we'll be getting the following six months worth of it.
  9. I watched all the episodes again after our GWS loss earlier in the year and pretended it was all about this years pre-season.
  10. I managed to scrounge up four priority one barcodes between friends and passed them onto my Melbourne supporting boss whose son & family live in Perth. He messaged me this morning to say he got seats in the front row on the wing so that's my good deed for the week done.
  11. Hi LT. Last time I bothered to look at the news it was a bunch of inbred nutters in Ripponlea that were placing their devotion to a fictional character above the health & wellbeing of our state and it's residents. It doesn't take many selfish or deluded people to spoil things for everyone else, regardless of where they might live.
  12. Hi Binny, I don't doubt it. I reckon my place has nearly tripled in the six years I've owned it and now that the state government has invested in the airport rail link I've started to see some really good quality townhouses and low rise apartments under construction in contrast to the traditional weatherboards like mine. Btw love your work on the podcast & various threads.
  13. I guess it was just a matter of time before the tired old ‘scummy west’ tropes started appearing. With it’s craft breweries, speakeasies, cool little eateries and creative scene Footscray has 1000 times more vibrancy than where I work in Armadale. They can count their money and the westies can count their blessings.
  14. I can't separate any of these below. Paul Gascoigne's third of the day against Aberdeen to sew up our 8th consecutive title. The Ally McCoist overhead bicycle kick in extra time against Hibs to win the League Cup. I was there that day. Davie Cooper mesmerising the Celtic defence at Hampden Park in 1979. That Jorg Albertz piledriver free kick against Celtic in 1997. Mark Hateley and Ally McCoist's goals against Leeds Utd at Elland Road in the European Cup in 1992. Kemar Roofe's goal from his own half against Standard Liege in the Europa League last year. And who could forget Archie Gemmill taking on half the Dutch defence to score for Scotland in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. A goal immortalised in the movie Trainspotting. Oops, I nearly forgot Diego Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal to knock the English out of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
  15. Hi JJC. Yup, you're right. I just checked a map. It's on one of my cycle routes and it's always there when I go past between March & September.
  16. For 6 months during each football season there is a Melbourne flag that hangs from one of the terrace houses opposite the tennis courts on Lansdowne St, East Melbourne. My own red & blue paraphernalia will go up later this week.
  17. Hi DD82. It's comforting to know that I'm not on my Pat Malone out this way. Good to see we've got some of our kin flying the colours in the 'Toorak of the West' 😉. I've already been out on the bike for my 20km ride and saw a few doggies scarfs hanging from front porches. I've got mine out as well for everyone walking / cycling along the Kororoit Creek trail opposite the house to see. The red & blue balloons have been ordered for the front fence.
  18. Gutted that I can't be there of course but super excited that it's us against the Dogs. For all I know I might be the only Dee west of the Maribyrnong, definitely in Albion so I might have to sell up if we don't win. I've always had a soft spot for Footscray so happy that it'll be two of the league's former 'cellar dweller' teams battling it out on the day. It should be a cracker between the two best sides in the comp this year.
  19. 1-1 over in Perth so far. We're yet to hit our best form this season.
  20. Libba is a slang term for sperm in Maltese. They used to shout it with a lot of other expletives at Sunshine George Cross games I'd go to a long time ago.
  21. If I can stay awake I might hang on for the Brentford game at midnight.
  22. Ha ha, love it. Did the reception resemble Buchanan Street on an Old Firm day?
