PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide
I remember that game Gator. I was still living in the UK at the time and had come back for a month long holiday so was at the G that day. I was also at the game a week later when we were beaten by over 130 points on Saturday night prime time. It's hard to believe that we're the same football club now.

I thought so too. We're lucky to have him and they're lucky to have each other, I think.

Tasmanian AFL Team
You make some fair points there, specifically, if both current grounds are good enough for North and Hawthorn to play in them then why can't the Devils? As for the Gabba if they took out all of the silly deck chairs at one end and huge LED screen that flashes Neds betting ads on the outer wing they could fit in more people. I get the feeling that the AFL are too far down the road with this now to back out and that any state government down there could probably stall the new stadium issue without it compromising the entry date of their new team.

The Footy with Broden Kelly - Hester & Ben Brown
Yup, I enjoyed watching it. BBB is a different cat to your average AFL footballer and it's refreshing to hear something other than the regular alpha male meathead banter that you tend to get on footy podcasts like American Aces, to name just one. Hester offers a really good insight into what the life of a partner is like too.

This popped up in my youtube suggestions. It's the podcast of Melbourne supporter Broden Kelly and an interview with BBB & his wife Hester.

TRAINING: Monday 25th March, 2024
I’m on annual leave so have ridden the bike down for a look today. Eden Zanker was mowing the grass when I got here. BBB has gone back to the rooms but no strapping on the left knee this morning and no limp.

They can have all of North and Hawthorn’s top end talent who already play four games a year down there. Simples.- The Rise and Fall of VFL Park
A soulless, windswept kip of a venue. It’s only redeeming feature today is that the housing estate that replaced it has an Ibrox Street.- What’s In a Name? - a Comprehensive List of Player Nicknames
Nobody inside the club calls Melky by Milkshake. I think it might have been coined by the deebrief boys along with the equally embarrassing Spargypants.- NON-MFC: Round 02
More chance than their team bus careering off the freeway on the way to Geelong and ending up in the Werribee sewage farm, mono.- NON-MFC: Round 02
Also, what's the statistical probability of their team plane plummeting 30,000 feet into an oil refinery some time this season.- Crowd numbers - my perspective
Hi Jnr. With respect you're the one implying that it makes you a 'bad' member. I didn't say it. You can go to whatever game you want when you want and have any reason you like for not going, or no reason at all. I respect your right to do anything you deem to be more interesting than watch the Dees at Marvel or KP. I didn't suggest that you shouldn't contribute financially to the club. Again, you're projecting your own words on to me which is a bit naughty. In the UK you buy a season ticket. If you follow a team that plays in an all-seater stadium then it's highly likely that it will come with a reserved seat. If you don't then you'll be standing on a terrace. Approximately 80% of an all-seater ground will be allocated for season ticket holders and almost all will have a substantial waiting list to get one. I doubt there's been any league game in the EPL or the Old Firm that hasn't been played in a full capacity stadium this season although Bramall Lane is usually half empty again by half time. They also play games on most nights of the week due to TV deals. You're right about a false equivalence and it's probably a cultural thing. I'm used to seeing the team I follow take 10,000 supporters to an away game in eastern Europe on a cold Wednesday night and out-sing the home fans and we'll take 500 to Perth to play the WC on a weekend. It's different here. I don't know why. There are just as many if not more things to do on a weekend in London and they also have 13 fully professional teams competing for your money. You can also fly to most cities on the continent in an hour or two or NYC in six hours for a long weekend. All I'm saying is that I find it odd that on any given weekend more than half of any clubs members prefer to be doing something else on the day their team plays.- Tasmanian AFL Team
I have no issue with there being 19 teams moving forward as the competition has already been compromised to within an inch of it's life. We now have states being invited to outbid each other for their local teams to get additional home games whilst simultaneously all their competitors have to travel interstate. I actually love the club colours and logo but would only go with the state jumper during heritage rounds perhaps.- Tasmanian AFL Team
North should apply to be their VFL side to keep it an 18 team competition.- Tasmanian AFL Team
Tennents Lager are going to love the free publicity on the the guernsey. Horrible drink btw.- Tasmanian AFL Team
So basically their state jumper then. I thought they might go without the map and keep it for state representative football. Other than that the colours and logo look great.- Clare Pettyfor Appointed Chief Communications Officer

Hi OD. My bad then if there were NRL games being played. I don't usually listen to AFL waffle but maybe I was hoodwinked on this occasion.- Crowd numbers - my perspective
All good. As I said I'm pretty relaxed about who we are as a supporter base and how many of us turn up on a game day. I actually found the Hamish Blake & Ryan Shelton video last year pretty funny. I don't think our president needs to keep labouring the point though. Personally, when I hear people with top end memberships at our bigger supporting rivals say they only have access to a ballot for GF tickets I feel blessed that I follow the MFC. Bigger isn't always better.- Crowd numbers - my perspective
Hi Tracca. I've seen every reason / excuse under the sun being used as justification for our crowds not being more reflective of our membership tally. From 7:20pm on a Thursday night until 3:20pm on a Sunday, whether it's too hot, cold or wet to the wrong mode of transport (usually bus) to a lack of technological prowess. Whether it's too early due to kids sports or too late for school the next day. My bingo card is full.- Crowd numbers - my perspective
Hi Woey. I hear what you're saying and I'm perfectly comfortable with our reality. Of the 40k that turned up to the SCG last week around 5% might have been Dees. They were going to get 40k against almost anyone in a week where there were no NRL games, so wasn't really a reflection of our drawing power, in my opinion. We're a boutique sized club with an upwardly mobile supporter base that has numerous options to choose from on any given weekend. When we do choose to visit the G were more polite than raucous. All this is fine. We are who we are. I'd rather be happy in our own skins than waste energy trying to be something we're not.
