No-one knows anything as fact on here and of course things can change and change quickly. However, I’m going on an actual public statement by the Freo footy club (plus my own hunch) whereas the majority on here are interpreting subterfuge, lies and shenanigans on the part of Peter Bell. Based on what? Because they don’t like him? I don’t particularly like him either but I have no reason at this stage to disbelieve what he’s saying.

I can see why we’re taking on Kolodjashnij but I do think some are jumping the gun on him being a walk up in our starting 18. In a side that lacks linebreakers we can ill afford to lose Jayden Hunt. He ain’t perfect but you’re underrating him. Seen him play some very good footy particularly on the bigger grounds and I can tell you forwards love it when the footy comes in quick and long the way Hunt can thump it in there. He also doesn’t want for courage. Goes when it’s his turn to go and sticks a decent tackle. Still young with room for improvement. He’s a keep for mine.

Patches info came from something he remembers hearing on trade radio a year ago. Hardly a verifiable source. I just find it incredulous that some posters get potted for merely reporting on a rumour (Langdon, Nixon, ChookinP) while others get patted on the back for virtually posting their own rumours as facts. Often it’s the same people doing the potting as the opining! It’s really very hypocritical. Alas, it’s a one eyed footy fan forum I suppose. What to do.

But you keep extrapolating an expression of interest to declare unequivocally that they have tabled X offer to him when there is exactly zero evidence to support your claim. You keep bringing up this mythical long-term offer that Freo are supposed to have presented him, Patches. There is zero evidence of this. All that’s known is they courted Jesse, conducted due diligence on his foot and heaven knows what else, then dropped him like a cold 4nTwenty pie on the back of a sham offer they knew we’d be insulted by. You can either believe it’s a negotiation tactic on their part, or buy into the troublesome prospect that they were spooked by something that hasn’t come to light. MFC diehards are naturally not going to want to entertain rumours of the latter.

A couple of things. - As DaisyCutter pointed out Hogan was an U18 AA defender. - Virtually NO-ONE foresaw that Tom MacDonald would adapt from his switch from back to forward to become one of the best goalkickers in the league. Jesse Hogan is a professional footballer playing at a club with genuine premiership hopes. If as has been reported the coach told him at his exit interview that he may be joining the backline group in 2019 then he should’ve sucked it up and said “no worries Goody wherever the team needs me.”

Did Freo offer him a “truckload of cash”? This has become fact on this forum but may not be true at all. We might have to consider that Freo saw something that spooked them during their due diligence process. Perhaps the nonsensical 11 & future second rounder offer was purely a face saving gesture and they now have zero interest. The more I think about Bell’s sloppily written statement the more I am inclined to think that’s what’s happened. They’re not bluffing, they’ve gone cold on him. Love to know why.
